The question for me is: Will we see (non-AI) players who will become even better than that (on a non-strategic level)? I can't imagine it, but the current trend suggests that. If Starcraft was a more stable e-sport and had a more promising future, I could see team houses introducing this archon method as a standard training device and a lot of youngsters rising to unimaginable heights. Most team houses are gone for now, but there still seem to be youngsters starting to play on a competitive level, but I doubt that many of them will actually consider a professional career, I hope I'm wrong there.

It was just that Teynor was able to adapt to his opponent and managed to transfer bis almost perfect early game into a midgame win instead a lategame loss

Boxer indeed used it a lot, he says a lot about this in his autobiography. https://thethroneesports.com/2018/03/12/chapter-2-birth-of-a-progamer/#Four

The whole tourney was pretty awesome, one of the better ones in a long time. That said, as a huge Maru fan, it was painful to see how he went down to Reynor in game 4. It's being talked about like it was a build order loss (and maybe that's how the game would have played out anyway), but the straight up mistakes that Maru basically never makes were painful to watch. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if he had actually gotten the fusion core up instead of mistakenly building a 3rd starport (probably dead anyway, but still...). Seems like Maru kind of made a meta/strategic miscalculation though in the series anyway. After those first two games how does Maru not stick with a survive-till-late-game approach for all the following games? Reynor clearly was outmatched in the late game so even with thoughtful adaptation you'd think Maru is pretty much 100% going to get 1 out of 3 games that go late game. Anyways, it's nice to see Maru back in form after seemingly having made a strong recovery from his injury. Hoping to see some Maru magic in 2021! Hmmm. When a player makes tons of uncharacteristic mistakes, like refusing to use a strategy that just won them the previous 2 matches in the next 3... hmmm....

Maru couldnt play the same way as in the first 2 games even if he wanted to, that because Reynor were DONE with using Lurker and Broodlord after those losses. Sure Maru made mistake with his build and wall-in in game 3 and 4, but he wouldnt be able to fight the same way. Just look at game 5, where Reynor was doing lingabane Muta into lingbaneUltra, try to use the quick pace to force Maru into fighting head on rather than turtling behind his defense.
