EMBOT - Extension Mod Build Order Tester

Just recently, Artosis and his guests on the pylon show were talking about how to help new players pick up the game. One topic that came up was tools that can help players learn build orders. They mentioned SALT and Overwolf, but both have some issues.

I want to introduce a new alternative: EMBOT. I worked on this mainly in 2018, used it a bunch to practice build orders, and then never advertised it and abandoned it. After hearing the podcast, I went back and patched some bugs, and I'm happy to actually advertise it now.

To find it ingame, search for "EMBOT" in extension mods, while creating a lobby with any melee map.

Features:

Instant map resetting as any race
Real time build order tracking
Build order importing via spawningtool.com

NOTE: Saving build orders isn't possible in extension mods unfortunately.

it would be smart for blizzard to incorporate build order assistance into the game itself in the future.

people would bitch, but the fact is that people are generally more excited by the skill of composing, microing and positioning an army than the practiced routine of hitting macro benchmarks. a lot of people would become more interested in competing if they didn't have to struggle so much through the phase of being a new player where you think races or units are OP because you're not macroing correctly

i have friends who play casually here and there, and i always tell them "90% of my skill over you if just having practiced hundreds of games of macro," which i believe is the case. more competition = better competition, and making learning easier = more competition

Played this today. Thank you so much! It's very nice.

Found a "bug". If you research overlord speed and then reset your overlords will still move at the faster speed. You can re-research overlord speed though. Since this is a build order tester, I don't think this even really matters. But just in case you care.

Of course the bug race is buggy...

Strange thing is, the upgrade DOES reset, and you can research it again, so its not just a fix of "actually reset the upgrade for real tho"

I was playing around on the future new ladder maps and found a weird bug. On Golden Wall / Purity and Industry, resetting the game deletes the destructible rocks and mineral blockers.

Hi hi!

I'm encountering an issue with EMBOT where it's not pulling all the build information. At certain "supply" it's just blank and it's also not listing when to drop some supply depots.

Any plans to have it fixed?

I have the same problem, it seems to ignore supply (overlords) after a certain point. It's a problem with embot or it might be a problem with the code from spawningtool?
