We have the inaugural champions of the Team Liquid Map Contest Team Edition!
Thank you to all of the mappers who took a swing at submitting Team maps and congratulations to the winners! We hope to see a couple of these on ladder next season.
Winners
2v2 Winner
Emerald City | RQM
"Emerald City is a large macro map for two teams. Two players should defend the single wide entrance. Naturals have two chokes, splitting rush paths and expansion patterns. Gold bases can be taken as the third for aggressive plays. Breaking rocks help climbing high ground."
If you've already checked out the winners of TLMC 11 then you'll have noticed that we have a double winner in RQM! He has been around for awhile in the mapping community but this was a breakout season.
1st - Emerald City 2nd - Efflorescence 3rd - Golden Kingdom 4th - Divergence 5th - Rhoskallian
3v3 Winner
WHITEWATER LINE | NewSunshine
"This map is a 1v1-style layout, expanded for 3-player teams. Each team has a single main base, followed by a single natural expansion with a ramp to defend. Pathways and expansions throughout the map are similar to traditional 1v1 maps, and a Xel'Naga tower is located in each corner."
Newsunshine finished just outside of the bonus money in TLMC 11 but takes first place in the 3v3 category with a 1v1 inspired design. This was also the smallest 3v3 map submitted so it is sure to be bloody.
1st - Whitewater Line 2nd - Rose Motel 3rd - Bone Temple 4th - Jungle Depths 5th - Khalai Terrace
4v4 Winner
MULTIPROCESSOR | -NegativeZero-
"Two groups of two allies spawn together, with their mains connected by a backdoor path to reinforce if necessary. Both mains open up into a shared natural "fortress" area with two chokes to defend. Two potential third bases are located within the main-nat group, while additional expansions require leaving the fortress and moving towards the edges of the map."
-NegativeZero- rounds out our Team Edition champions with Multiprocessor. A 4v4 map which gives a couple easy expansions but then tests a team's coordination as they are forced to move outwards to acquire more resources.

Emerald City is pretty T favored since there's an extremely abusable spot over the lowground third base which can be sieged without the opposing team being able to contest it head on or by flanking. On top of that there's this obnoxious line of sight blocker which accomplishes nothing beside making it even harder to attack the siege tanks that are denying your third base. Emerald City was undoubtedly the most fundamentally flawed of all the maps in the 2v2 section. The fact that it has such a glaring error makes it an auto veto for all Zergs playing in masters.
Holy crap blizzard, please ignore mutliprocessor and whitewater line, these voters are not smart enough to choose a correct map for lotv and maybe the mapmakers 2 and the decission to choose this finalists.
Mutliprocessor is a 4vs4 map that supports 3 bases for each race with 2 additional bases, this dont supports lotv and only supports a crap game who isnt able to nearly progresse in the late mid stage. Games will end earlier with dumb pushes no upgrades etc. Therer are maps that support bases and look btw way better then this uggly thing.
Same whitewater line, this maps support less bases there are way nicer maps like jungle whatever in 3vs3 and temple whatever with way more bases who allow deeper gameplay in lotv, im sure ur interessted in that to support skill of the players to maybe make them play 1vs1 aswell and not just keep them poorly on low skill set cause maps dont support this.
I have overall enouhg of ur TLMC here are voting not even 50 guys for teammaps so inogre the votes and decide for your own what will be the best map. Same with 1vs1 maps. 150 guys voted for the whole communitY? u cant be seroius! PUT TLMC INTO GAME AND LET EM VOTE THERE TO HAVE A LARGER SET OF VOTINGS SO U CAN READ MORE CLEARLY WHICH MAPS ARE A GOOD CHOICE TO PUT INTO THE LADDER
Great job community again u showed us how bad ur map intelligence is. I hope the 3vs3 and 4vs4 map will not do it into the teammgame ladder. Even if i dont play 3vs3 or 4vs4 anymore just these maps would prefent me from starting it again. If i have good maps i would maybe play more but if i just have crap maps who are uggly bad designed etc would u play that and waste ur time for that? THINK ABOUT BLIZZARD ACT NOW! PUT THE VOTE INTO INGAME DONT LET IT DO TL ANY LONGER THE COMMUNITY IS CLEARLY DEAD NOONE CAN DENY THAT! GL HF_
I WANT SHIPWRECKED TAKE THIS ELSE KISS MY ASS AND I WANT ROSE MOTEL, BONE TEMPLE, JUNLGE DEPTHS some of those all okish maps if u dont take Shipwrecked then take Nunc fluens or Sunset valley AND THEN KISS MY ASS, u can be lucky i waste my time here for u bitches and just one last sentence, u better hear on me blizzard!°

Yeah i agree that on Multiprocessor, it doesn't appear that there's enough bases to support that many players. Seems like they just focused on the layout as opposed to the bigger picture? You can expand once & then 2 of you can expand 1 more time. The rest are just SOL. Map looks nice tho, just needs more bases imo.
It's because it's a bunch of 1v1 melee mappers making maps for team. Unfortunately, that's the best you're going to get because the experienced team mappers in sc2 is...extinct? Aka, there isn't anyone? So, you get a team map tournament, that overlaps the 1v1 map tournament, so you get many mappers which just take their 1v1 maps and morph them into team maps.
That's just what happens. /shrug.
I'm fine with the winners, because they look nice...but that's about it. I don't play team maps, so I don't know jack shit, which is probably why I didn't submit anything because yeah, to be honest I'd have no clue.
thats honest from you. and i dont know what to say about that. But maybe i will find some words later on. If u dont have mapmakers then dont make maps and let blizzard do it. Oh right they are lazy sorry forgot Even avex knows jackshid he had less bases now its one more added by blizzard or whoever. Yea we need more then 6 bases sick shid Avex. He had a big whole on the buttom of the map which was useless now u can use it. And i will fight for my 4 spot maps again and we will see them again like with darkness sanctuary was just a worse design. That was just a message to avex who is not a friend of supporting those.
figured most of the other mappers would be making macro maps for 4v4 so i went for a smaller one for some variety, with a full map pool in mind... i don't like how all the spotlight is put on 1 map for each category, but i can't say i'm disappointed with the result ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

IDK why you would consider this an issue when many of the other finalists went as far as having siegeable mains, siegeable 3rds are hardly criminal in team maps when 3rds are still somewhat of a luxury, and since by that time a team has so many different tech options sieging a base is nothing anymore.

I was happily surprised to see the result, thanks for votes. I hope team-players enjoy the maps.
algue// Glad you liked the map, but I'm afraid it would become similar to Neon Violet Square.. Emerald City was 2v2 version of NVS in its first state. I'll upload its remake on TL and consider its submission later.

idd, with basically just 2 siege tanks in the early game you could completely lock down the opponent and force him to go allin or some weird doom drops or air based strategy. There are even sight blockers on that highground.
