I don't feel good about how heavily they are going into the monetization stuff. The ridiculous worker-spray and the collection tab are silly.
I always admired SC2 for not throwing the Collector's Editions stuff in my face too much. I'm one of those folks who's vulnerable to micro-transactions, so when they introduce stuff like this to the game, I feel a bit preyed upon.
That said, I want to think it'll make the game more exciting, and certainly gives it a bit more life, but it's suddenly become a game I'm hesitant to recommend to my friends. I would like to buy a copy of the game for a friend and know they have all the content. I just think it cheapens the game to have so much "locked" and "owned" content markers featured prominently.
I really hope they tone it back.

I hope this helps create a steady cash flow to keep the ship of sc2 afloat. Still skeptical on sprays. Enjoy them in over watch but in sc2 clarity is important. I can live with skins though I will probably even buy some. So far I've iether liked or been indfrent to all skins but raptorlings. raptorlinga are a good example of how not to make a skin because the wings greatly reduce visual clarity making it harder to gauge how many lings your fighting, this is especially a problem in zvz. I hope skins are more like the ultralisk, Thor, collosi, skins. Very cool looking. Fun. but not abtrusive to gameplay.

finally get to remove that awful queen announcer for zerg.
I hope they release the overmind announcer, I loved that mod before blizzard patched that back in WoL

Don't really care about those things besides bw voice packs/announcer. I'll buy that instantly.

Jesus. Just when I thought the level of negativity had been hitting all-time highs. there are some people who won't be happy until sc2 both becomes more popular than lol, and is also turned into an exact copy of bw

So for 40 dollars (cheaper if on sale) you get a full campaigh, all the custome games and arcade full of mods and its own games and a full ladder. Idk how you could even feel remotly hesitant to recommend the game when they are releasing a bunch if skins and voice packs which are completely optional...i say give us all the micro transaction, if you want them buy it, if not then don't.

Arcade and custom games are free for the Starter Edition if I'm not mistaken. An expansion pack gives access to the respective campaign and ladder/matchmaking, with LotV giving access to three more co-op commanders additionally.

Not all playable content is packaged in the retail box though. Getting the extra commanders costs money.
I think that's the only playable content you have to pay for.
edit: and I think the Mission packs are under paywall.

Yeah I hope they reconsider their model for Co-Op champions going forward. Originally there were 2 P (Artanis/Vorazun), 2T (Raynor/Swann), and 2 Z (Kerrigan/Zagara). Now that they will have a new one for each race (Alarak/Nova/Abathur), they should consider having in-game experience be capable of unlocking additional heroes/expediate upgrading them. They could require you to achieve a specific mastery with each of the respective race heroes to unlock the 3rd of each race, and if they continue to release new heroes for it, change up their business model. Maybe create a currency system inside the game which could be earned across all game modes (SP (only for first playthroughs/achieves), MP, Co-Op, even Arcade), further incentivizing people to branch out from Co-Op, since that is what they say most people are playing these days. The majority of multiplayer games have some sort of currency within them similar to this, hell all the other Blizzard games already do. I am fine, however, with locking the singleplayer campaigns behinds a SMALL pay wall, something within reason for a 6 year old campaign in WOL and a 3 year old campaign in HOTS.
Locking "playable content" behind a paywall for a game that has an initial buy-in price will reduce the possibility people will continue to explore co-op and will drive new players to either only play the original 6, or get bored of them quick and leave. Paywalls should ONLY be for cosmetic/non-gameplay features within games with a price tag to begin with. The more people play more diverse champs and have the opportunity to maybe fall in love with a certain champ to potentially buy VPs and skins for. That opportunity might not exist if the person is thrown off by a silly 5$ required pricetag. Give them the chance to unlock it for free.

Gonna buy all of them no question. Finally purchasable skin and announcer. The only question is should I use alark or abathur for announcer :p
