Or is it based on the MMR uncertainty and 25 is just an approximation? According to http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/18792768/starcraft-ii-ladder-update-april-27-2015-4-27-2015 under "New Player" Logic, it's "around" 25 games. 25 may be an upper limit (and this is consistent with when skeldark and Not_That would see league changes in the old MMR-Stats tool) or it may be enforced. Some players have reported that they've been promoted earlier, but they haven't clearly stated whether they had 25 recent career ranked games (say, 15 last season and 10 this season would still be enough to break out of provisional status). Here's some info that might help you:
Monday: create new account, play 20 unranked games, zero ranked games (pre ladder revamp) Tuesday (after ladder revamp): play 25 ranked games - my first four placement games were all against masters (!!!), which means your unranked MMR must be used to decide who you play in your placement games, fifth game was vs a diamond - after placement, I was at roughly 4900 MMR, I believe, and got placed in Diamond 1 with a provisional MMR of around 4300ish I think - after my 24th game (19-5) I got promoted to Master 3 (at this point had 5228 MMR) - after my 25th game (20-5) I got promoted to Master 1, skipping master 3 (had 5255 MMR)

Yeah your unranked and ranked MMRs seed each other if there's no existing value.
I wonder if you got promoted on your 24th game because your provisional MMR got up to 4640+.
It's cool that you can get promoted across multiple tiers at a time. I wonder if it's like that for whole leagues too?
Thanks for the report!

Booo, now I can't use my unranked to off race apparently... separate MMR for each race can't come soon enough.

I haven't played for a while, last season I was gold with barely won games (just a few vs a lot of lost ones)... 3 games and I'm top8 PLAT#1 ... strange.

IIRC, Blizzard had an update with new SC2 code in the beginning of the year to virtually eliminate hacking. Most likely you're not being hacked, just outplayed.

I played a few team games yesterday, and I got hacked in a game. Watch some people on the right view bar over there, they claim hack at least 1 in 5 games.
Also I am way under my actual league right now, when I take a loss ok no big deal, I am currently like 25-1. When mutas fly into your base, directly to your upgrade buildings, kill off each building in the order of closest upgrade to being completed, skip killing probs when your stalkers are about to blink on them, off vision. Something there smells like fresh hacks to me.

So it says that if that bar runs out I run the risk of being demoted next season. So if I'm in diamond 1 I could get demoted to diamond 2 or does it mean I get demoted to platinum?

The progress bar operates only in terms of the nearest neighbor (that is, by tier), so the demotion would be from Diamond 1 to Diamond 2.

That's interesting. I watch some of the people on that right bar there and the ones I watch claim those who complain about hacks are usually making excuses for their losses and that hacking actually rarely occurs.
The story you share sounds compelling though, video please.
