Patch 3.3.0 brings some cool features as well as many bug fixes, all of these features including most beloved Abathur as co-cop commander had their own articles, videos and just small articles before the patch. But one feature wasn't represented enough, and we waited for it since Wings of Liberty. For some of you this feature may be meh and mean not that much, but I think, that small way to customize our ladder games will just make game fresh again, at least 1v1. Maybe not in gameplay manner, but more likely more pleasant for eyes. I'm talking about custom ladder colors.
One more note on why I focusing on word "ladder". First of all, patch 3.3.0 allows to change colors in unranked and/or ranked 1v1 ladder games, so instead of being always red, blue or green, you can have any of 17 colors!.
To configure these colors go to Options -> Gameplay and under "Team Color Intensity" you may find three dropdown menues: your colors, ally colors (2v2, 3v3, 4v4), enemy colors and neutral colors. You should look first at your own colors, because neutral color is rarely seen in game (neutral critters that die from 10 clicks, and left/dead allies/enemies in team games will have that color too). Enemy color was always red, you can change it too, but I think, having enemies as red was always intuitive and easy to recognize (you won't miss that bright red pixel quickly moving to your base out of nowhere).
Right now there is probably bug (or just missed opportunity to change) - you will be always green on minimap, no matter what your color is (your original player color (red or blue in 1v1), alliance color (green by default or your configured one). Enemies will have changed color even on minimap as well.
Another note. Team Color Intensity may change how your color looks, and in some cases the difference is very noticeable. I'll post some screenshots below so you can see it.
Lets talk about YOUR colors, and why you should... no, MUST change your color from default green. Here are reasons, why you must do it:
- Lore connection.Always play as blue Raynor's raiders, red Dominion Terrans or violet Kerrigan Zerg forces! Oh wait, you now can play UED also!
- Make stream more unique. Tie your color with stream overlays or your color theme! Scarlett's pink zergs, blue Zergs of Fenner, golden Protoss warriors of Grubby (or cyan), or lime Zergs of Stephano, or any other famous StarCraft streamer. Or just tie with stream color theme, be it brown or blue overlay and design.
- Make games memorable and unique. Isn't it great to remember, that in X game you beated that sneaky Protoss with gorgeous proxy while playing as pink Zergs? Or when you managed to hold strong allin from opponent while playing as white Terrans?

my favorite combo so far is teal vs orange

Obviously gonna play as Yellowzerg ,

Might sound weird, but I feel like this will help some people deal with ladder anxiety. For example, if they make their opponent a funny pink or purple instead of an aggressive red :D
Also good for color blind players.
I love this feature

that's indeed great news. I shall make me blue and my opponents red.

I always wanted to use the green/red system -I have an autistic/control freak side that wants things to always be the same- but I disliked how vivid the green was. Blue is my favorite color so I'll be elated to always be blue instead of being a filthy red 50% of the time ^^

but I disliked how vivid the green was Try Light Green and Dark green. They are great colors, not much change from previous green, but at same time they make it look more fresh and at same time more comfort for you.
Also standard Green is still darker than Default.

Damn, so many colors, I'm having trouble making a decision. I was thinking yellow or teal but there are some other options now.

Nah, for me Terran is Green, then Protoss Blue and Zerg could be Red but I don't like Red... so I played them Orange.
Depending on the race I change the colour but right now I am playing Terran

?_? Color blind mode colors overriding your preferences/options.

But with color blind mode you cant change your color to yellow but without you can? How does that make any sense.
