After a great run in StarLeague, Patience will no longer play for Dead Pixels. He will join a Korean team and participate in Proleague in the future.
http://www.deadpixels.ch/all-good-things-must-come-to-an-end/
Soon after the news of the merger between Dead Pixels and Karnage, we come to a sad day.
Patience has made a great run in StarLeague Season 1, placing fourth and taking home $7,614 and 1800 WCS KR Points! In fact, Patience’s great run ended up with him not being able to apply for and receive a visa for Switzerland, hindering his planned move to Switzerland. With recent changes, making it impossible to have a Korean player as a foreign team without a visa for the player in question, and the fact that a solo player in Korea can only compete in Global StarCraft II League and StarLeague, Dead Pixels have made the decision together with Patience to have him play for another team, enabling him to participate in Proleague.
This is a very sad decision for both us and Patience, but we do not intend to hinder Patience in his professional career, and we wish Patience the best of luck in the future. We hope that Dead Pixels’ and Patience’s roads will cross again in the future!
Patience on Facebook:
First of all, i would like to say thank you. I didn't want to leave the team but i can't participate at abroad competition. So i have to participate at proleague in korea. My time with Dead Pixels was very pleasant. Although i leave team, i wish to continue our relationship. Until now, i appreciate that you gave to me opportunity to activate good team and good experience. Once more thank you for your support. If i go to Switzerland, i'll visit you.

Very sad to see this given Patience had a plan of moving to Switzerland. I hope he finds a nice home in Korea (probably MVP) and continues to perform well. His SSL performance was outstanding so that should garner some interest in him. Good luck Patience!
|
So he basically needed to do a Life in the RO16 or maybe even during qualifiers to get a visa. Ladies and gentlemen, WCS.
|
It is indeed very sad to see his plans couldn't become real... Why couldn't he get the Visa? What type of Visa does he need? I thought there wasn't anything linke the US athlete visa in EU.
Good luck Patience in the future! I'm sure he'll be fine in whatever team he lands.

This whole WCS system is fucking up teams and killing opportunities for Koreans to play abroad.
SOSOSOSOSOoooooooooooo Sad
|
This WCS system is literally killing e-sports.
It's so fucking bad.
|
It was only a question of time.
|
|
Instead of shitting on the WCS system, you should try to be productive and guess which team he will end up joining.

Not surprised, but still disappointed.
Hope he gets grabbed by a team quick.

He was staying in their teamhouse but he didn't actually represent them in SSL or anything, he was always in his Dead Pixels gear, he also couldn't play in ProLeague according to Seed.

Thats so sad, that he didnt got the visa to play in EU.

A player makes an incredible run in a Korean league and earns the attention of a Proleague team, and a foreign team releases a PR statement because they don't want to say "he left us to play for a better organization". This is a victory for the WCS system.

Well, but there is Patience who says he didn't want to leave DP and wanted to move to Switzerland.

Poor Koreans getting screwed by WCS.

Patience to MVP I guess. They need him the most too.

I hope he goes to samsung!

People who say they fucked up sc2 with those new rulez are somewhat right, but blizzard wanted to see how this works. No need for a foreigner pro player to even try get into this game. You know you gonna lose to a Korean. Not because Korean is a superrace, its because they have teamhouses and play vs best players all the time, and also in real life not online. It would be a BIG change if the EU or NA starts to make a very large teamhouse, or some teamhouses in about the same area. Players who really want to go pro and dont want school or work, and they are worth it for a team, they can join in the house. All teams should be in around the same area, i know its weird for us, wich country should we choose? or wich state in the US.
But i think thats the only way we will ever get as good as the Koreans. And that is to make a total sc2 invirement, so that there is always place for full time practise vs the best. Then the extra we get is, we get LIVE league like in Korea.
I bet Wardii would get 4000 more vieuwers at least, if the league was live, proberly more over time. Just guessing and i aint sure if its worth it. We as the public should pay for that in one way or another, i hope that its possible.
Sorry its little offtopic, But to say in every topic a Korean stops in the EU or NA for this reason and say Blizzard is making this game dead is stupid. They are trying something to even prevent that. I dont like that EU players dont have a chance to win BIG moneys, why would they even practise hard?

In fact, Patience’s great run ended up with him not being able to apply for and receive a visa for Switzerland, hindering his planned move to Switzerland.
Does anyone understand the relationship between being successful in Korea and not getting a visa in Switzerland? Patience couldn't get a visa because he was actually not in Switzerland, but rather spending his time in Korea? If so, that makes sense to me (from a Swiss visa issuance point of view). But then again, I have heard some stories about Switzerland and visa, indicating Catch 22-scenarios being pursued to keep people out of the country... This was a few years back admittedly, but I wonder if the country has become less restrictive in handing out visas in the meantime.
...err, and now let's see, all of you that blame Blizzard and the WCS system for the Swiss visa rules, raise your hands...
|
I thought only US had the athlete visa. Also getting a swiss visa is probably even harder than just EU visa. "In February 2014, the Swiss voted in a referendum to introduce quotas for all migrants in Switzerland." (They voted yes btw)

MVP kinda makes sense since he was already staying with them and was originally supposed to play PL for them. CJ and Jin Air are kinda low on players so they should be looking into this. Not sure about Afreeca and Samsung.

Most teams don't need more players hence they are locked out and left to die.
At least that's what I got from iloveoov's statement.

Sorry that his visa situation didn't work out as he wanted. Will enjoy seeing him in PL nonetheless.
Some people commenting here clearly don't watch PL/aren't familiar w/ the current rosters.
JAGW, KT, and SKT are all loaded at P and have zero need. The two teams that make the most sense are CJ and MVP.
From a standpoint of pure need, CJ w/ their threadbare roster (only 5 players while Bbyong is out), makes the most sense. Hush seems to be a much better coach/practice player than actual PL performer. So Patience could easily take his current starting spot (2nd P after herO). A lineup in R2 of herO, Byul, Patience, and Ragnarok starting w/ Bunny and Hush in support (until Bbyong hopefully returns soon) could be a big improvement over their disastrous R1.
MVP also is a logical choice, despite their larger roster (far too T heavy). They already have two core starters in GumiGod and Departure, but their other slots are largely rotational. Patience should be an improvement over their current P (Blaze and Seed) and would be a nice rotation regular. A lineup in R2 of GumiGod, Departure, Patience, and alternating 4th slot between Forte/Blaze w/ Ryung, Seed, and Pet in support should be an improvement over their winless R1.
AF currently has a very small roster and is in need of improved talent and depth at both Z and P. They already have Super (getting a lot of run in R1, to mediocre results) and Billowy, so not sure if they'd want to add a 3rd P. But Patience should be able to quickly become their top P option and would be a solid addition to their current Alive, Curious, Bomber/Keen core.
Samsung would have made a lot of sense last season (before the WCS changes), since they were known for sending their higher profile players to frequent overseas tournaments to increase brand/team exposure and visibility. They have a deep and talented lineup (T heavy) despite surprisingly just missing the R1 playoffs. Their P line w/ ace player Dear and Hurricane behind (along w/ Stork as coach), is already pretty solid and might not have room for another. A lineup in R2 of stars Dear and Solar, along w/ strong regular Reality and a rotating combination of Journey/Hurricane/Bravo, likely doesn't leave much extra space for a new player. But this is a team desperate to improve in R2 and R3 in order to make the season ending playoffs, so if they decide Patience would improve their chances, they'd likely make it work.

Like, in the year-end playoffs, they have to field their entire roster with no choices to be made. Should at least be on the lookout for options.

Damn, WCS needs a Protoss Koreigner to make it more interesting (for Polt). I hope Stardust gets a visa then.

But they've had 6 years to do this? There have been and still are a number of team houses (myinsanity and root?) but they still can't compete with the Koreans. I think it must be more that just team houses.

We would not be in this situation if koreans in na played on the server of their region and gave na player the opportunity to practise against them. It was also unfair that organisations such as mlg flew out koreans to their tournaments instead of letting the eco system play out it-self.
The wcs system just tries to correct past mistakes. Also we had already a system in which koreans could compete where they wanted. It did not work out! Just accept it. I am sure he will even earn more money in a proleague team than at dead pixels.
If you throw koreans against foreigners its like throwing a championsleague team in soccer against a regional league (exxagerated). There is no real competition, korean will win no matter what. We had that already.

The alternate reality you're leaving him looks cool. Is SC2 on the rise there ?

True. Although CJ could do with a decent protoss besides herO tbh. As long as he gets to play I'm happy for him

I hate WCS every day a bit more, don't watch it since it became like this. Makes me really sad to see StarCraft like this. Looks like I will be sticking to the korean scene even more now, which is not so bad tbh lol

He should go to SKT. Their A-team is all T&Z and desperately needs a strong Protoss. Sure, the team has Tosses, but only ones that nobody remembers, not any top 10 HotS players (according to Stuchiu anyways).

Im sad Patience couldn't get the Visa. But as a Swiss I know how critical my population stands against foreigners, and eSports as well, therefor Im not surprised at all. This will be a big problem for our teams DeadPixels and MyInsanity in the future, sad to see my government fucking up eSports! But this certainly is not Blizz destroying eSports, this is Blizz trying to fix past errors. In the beginning of WoL there weren't many Koreans on foreign tournaments, hence there was opportunity for foreign players to earn money, for foreign teams to get exposure. But then those organizers started to compete in who gets the best line-ups of Toptier Koreans, soon the foreign players were left in a bad spot. You are saying that the foreign scene had 6 years to build the infrastructure, ok but how? There are Koreans flying over, stealing the show, go back to Korea. Why should anyone sponsor a foreign team trying to build infrastructure? With this system its guaranteed that the money and exposure stays in the region, therefor it might get more interesting for sponsors. The Koreans playing in our Region now, will have to life here, practice here, and therefor help to develop our scene instead of just coming over to collect money and points. Also its more appealing for young talented players to put a lot of time and effort into this with the perspective of winning highly payed tournaments. After all the foreign scene nowedays is even more behind than it was at the beginning of WoL, but if there is something that can help it, this WCS system is it. And lets be honest, isnt there more excitment and more interest in seeing our local players playing on the highest level (remember Stephano or Naniwa), thats what Blizz wants to see again. Further Im sure, in the longterm, its required to have a healthy foreign scene to keep Starcraft in foreign event which aren't payed by Blizz...
