Do not talk about MarineKing even if you are defending him. Just don't do it. Please no match-fixing accusations on MarineKing or any other player if it has not officially been confirmed. This goes for other players too. -The_Templar

Are European players better to hide match-fixing or nobody care about illegal bettings in Europe ? Is there similar cases in other esports in Europe ?

First I will blame KeSPA, cause really Life is just a kid and he should have been protected from the influence of match fixers. The fact such a star, in one of the biggest team, can fall in that trap just shows how KeSPA is totally unable to fight illegal betting. Savior was kind of a first, so the element of surprise can be taken into account. If after all the warning and rumors KeSPA failed again to protect themself against illegal betting (cause this scandal will severly damage their business) it may just mean they're not able at all to be an esport organization. For KeSPA, this failure would be an humiliation. CEO should resign at the very least. Second, I would blame the Korean system as whole, because if illegal betting is so strong it can humiliate KeSPA this hard, it means legal authorities are just inefficient in preventing it. So peole can accuse Life of killing sc2 korean pro scene all they want, they can insult him all thread long, fact remains that the problem is not about a kid fucking up his career, the problem is about a system that is unable to prevent it. Anyway, I still hope he can be innocented, even if the future look very grim for him. KeSPA is a government body, there is no 'CEO' of the organization, like a company does.

Is there similar cases in other esports in Europe ? There has been matchfixing by a unimportant EU Team in CS:GO. There has been matchfixing by the best NA team in CS:GO. Biggest thing in forreign scene is, that there arent so many matches you can bet on: While you can bet on every onlinegame in Korea, on every ProLeague game, in EU, you can only bet on the high lvls, Dreamhack Playoffs, WCS games and so on. There arent so many games to bet on, also the places where you bet on forreign matches are much more open to the public, as betting is not illegal here. In korea these bettings are always illegal and thus shady and in the dark. Following is a much easier fixing as betting plattforms dont void bets. (Pinnicle wasnt the main betting plattform, but someone who became a bit more greed and betted outside of KR). In the End I would say, EU could have its own throwers. But its more unlikely, firstoff, because you can only bet on certain matches, secound off because EU is more open to gambling and thus gambling isnt that shady and betting companies are interested in catching fixed matches.

Is there similar cases in other esports in Europe ? It's probably a combination of "nobody cares" in Europe and the fact that betting is actually illegal in Korea. Because taking something you just don't like and outlawing it has never ever in history lead to anything but the creation of a criminal system much worse and dangerous than the legal one would be (see: alcohol during US prohibition, drugs almost everywhere int the world etc...)

Is there similar cases in other esports in Europe ? At least one case in European DOTA that I know of: http://www.joindota.com/en/news/9989-update-rox-kis-issues-statement. Also last year there was a matchfixing scandal in CS:GO, but that was NA, not Europe. But I haven't heard of any actual criminal prosecutions outside of Korea.

As i said before if even Life felt the need to fix matches (assuming that's true), i don't know what that tells us about the korean scene as a whole. Nobody will ever talk about it, but quite frankly it has to be horrible for pretty much 90% of the players. I wonder if it's all worth it... Meh Honestly, look at other sports' governing bodies : FIFA, FIA, IHF, IOC, UCI, etc, and even the national federations. They're all corrupt as fuck, which is normal considering you're concentrating a lot of power into a very limited number of hands without any kind of control whatsoever (I mean seriously, who thought that was a good idea?). While this does not mean that KeSPA has to be as corrupt as these organizations (the main, and important, difference is that KeSPA is directly under the authority of the Korean government), I don't think it is crazy enough to be qualified as "conspiracy theory".

It makes me question how much money teams like EG spent on making their players look good by having Koreans throw games, or just stoke the drama machine. Really sad... I'm pretty sure an organisation controlled by a government with strict anti-gambling laws (like KeSPA is) being directly involved in illegal betting is nothing more than a conspiracy theory before there's any evidence of it. Crazy or not.
