Because they have professional pride and feel ashamed of even being associated with this kind of activity. Or even the suggestion of that kind of activity. Note the way MC finished his comment by apologising. Looking at it literally he has nothing to apologise for, but he feels he does because he was also a professional player, he's in 'the scene' and he was YoDa's close friend.
