"Engineering" is 工學 in hanja, or 공학 in hangeul. Combined you get 生命工學, or 생명공학, i.e. biotechnology. Translating it simply as "Life Sciences" misses the engineering part. Her name has another character though: 生命工學部, or 생명공학부... meaning she is "The Faculty of Biotechnology", or "The Department of Biological Engineering" I think that makes it stranger... and vaguely menacing? A better name than Lifesciences, in my opinion. | ||
