Someone should make an extension mod that if you don't type "glhf" you can't make anything, and you can't leave the game if you don't type "gg".
Be sure to type glhf before you make your first worker :')

Probably way less than an ordinary job. Inb4 videogame squadron on me.
You are so wrong. You don't get people doing ordinary jobs getting so stressed that they wish your family cancer. The extremely unhealthy lifestyle, lack of social communication and deep feelings of unfairness being a progamer provides are something rather unique, in a bad way. Not everybody can handle it. In fact Firecake is a victim, and hopefully he finds something else to do that brings him more peace of mind.

That's the best feature of Hearthstone imo. No chat -> No communcation -> No BM (unless ofc you are friends). LoL should have been the same
Just because you're scared of human contact doesn't mean it should be completely disabled for everyone. No chat -> no communication -> sad fucking place for fat geeks to grow ugly.

You've never had a real job, have you?
I did, and it made me feel way better than being a progamer. Progaming can give you things that are exceptional, like traveling to tournaments, meeting your friends from around the world and being close to so many people sharing your passion and dreams. On the other hand, the everyday life is just something a human being is not built to handle without frequent breakdowns.

Wow Cloud, this sounds a little like a apology for some of the "lesser appropriate" behavior you showed in the past. It would be cool to see you write a blog about this, one in which you only look in the mirror and not accuse others of wrongdoings. I'm not being sarcastic.
As far as I remember (and I met the guy in the French WCG qualifiers in 2011), Firecake was always BM and absolutely unfriendly. I think it has more to do with his personality than with the fact is a progamer. Now, Cloud, I do agree that this is a stressful environment and that it could have made him worse than he was at first, but I wouldn't go as far as to call him a victim. At any case, I hope he grows up (mentally) but usually this is what some of the viewers want to see...

I believe the general mentality of being super sensitive about everything, getting offended over petty insults and condemning whoever shows what everybody think is "unappropriate" behaviour is retarded and immature. I don't think anyone should apologize publicly or to the community for offenses that have been made privately. But people who have no part in it want to feel like they belong to the big show so they resort to condemning on forums, expressing opinions on things they partially know and being judgemental as fuck.

I like your post Cloud, people should have a bit skin. The problem with insults are that some of them are petty to some but outrageous to others, and this is depending on culture, religion, sensitive skin and what have you. As it were, if a player does insult someone privately, it would be, in my opinion, clever to apologize for it to the person he/she insulted (apart from being the right thing to do of course). This can be done privately too and it would diffuse any future drama nonsense.
The point is, when insults made in private, e.g., on the ladder, and then screen shots leak out through twitter or whatever, they are not private anymore, they are in the public domain. If the offender would have apologized for his/her behavior chances are that insults don't become public in the first place, and even if they do, the offender can simply say that something like "I was upset, I said some stupid things that I shouldn't have in the heat of the moment, but then I apologized to XXX for it afterwards when I cooled down." No need for a full public apology to the community as such after that, and certainly there would be no need for the community to get up in arms about it either.
Well, all too much preaching sometimes, we need to remember that SC2 is supposed to be fun. On this positive note, I would like to share this hilarious movie clip with those of you that haven't seen it yet. Chevy Chase as Fletch is bullying a poor foreman to get some confidential information, and when he gets what he wants, he apologizes for his behavior, but he still stays in his asshole character, refusing to apologize for being wrong:

while i was never a progamer, just from imagining myself in the role of one i think this is probably true for a lot of people and i'm almost certain it would be true for me (and in fact it is part of why i made the decision not to even really try to become one when i essentially had the chance). the interesting question then is: why do people choose to become progamers? not only is it an "extremely unhealthy lifestyle", as you said, but it also doesn't pay well unless you're at the very top, you're not really "famous" and it is a very unstable business. obviously in a way i'm grateful that there are people that choose to do it (since i love watching them) but at the same time i kinda feel for them since clearly a lot of people are not happy with their decision in the long run.

I don't think his job being stressful justifies his actions in any way shape or form. He's not a victim. He's a willing participant in a system that causes stress, and guess what, theres a ton of others just like him facing the exact same stress (if not more so) and they don't act this way. Calling him a victim takes blame away from him, and thats beyond wrong imo.
