I have to agree.
kind of stupid, but as we learned from EGTL it doesn't mean they will dominate.
EGTL had the worst practice regime in the entire league and a total lack of rooster depth (no matter the format you do need this as your 3-5 default players will eventually get figured out). I'm still shocked to this day that TL predicted them to do well in PL when it was obvious that they would get 4th at the very very best.
hindsight is 20/20, TL made the right call in power ranking them as #1, it was expected for them to do well (they deserved at least top 3 in PR)
Wow, on one hand Life is in SPL and pretty much IM. On the other it's less fun since IM is growing further from its roots of developing players and is looking more like a squad of mercenaries these days
It doesn't improve IM's strength THAT much, considering a four player lineup. You're upgrading Byul-Trap-Protoss1-Protoss2 to what, Byul-Trap-Curious/Life-Protoss1? That's an upgrade, but not a SIGNIFICANT upgrade.
Honestly, I think the biggest benefit is actually improving the team's depth, so anyone competing in Code S/WCS Premier can be covered for.
Oh, and having Hack as a credible Terran threat who will ACTUALLY PLAY UNLIKE Mvp will help them do line-ups; especially in playoffs.
life should make a significant difference in the points IM makes. having hack in there might do some good too as IM is quite bereft of terrans except for mvp. but really really this brings my hope of having a barbie vs aphrodite televised match coming into being that much closer. mwhahaha

Good for Proleague, IM do need Zergs now but haven't they got too many players right now? IM could make good use of Life, Curious and Hack but ST still has quite a few players in their roster. Also, sad that both First and YoDa seem to have disappeared since deciding to play in WCS Europe...
I wish Startale and Prime joined up instead tbh. The bickering between the fans would be interesting and we'd actually have another potentially competitive team in SPL.
IM only needed 1 or 2 more good signings to recover from the loss of Yoda, Losira, and First. They were already fine.

a bad practice regime doesn't mean shit if your roster is supposed to be class above the rest.
alas, they underperformed hardcore, and i don't really think that lack of practice was a factor since most of the players on the roster went on to have at least some (or a lot in the cases of taeja and JD) success in individual competition.

The TL writers did ok, they probably should have been a bit more conservative but again, hindsight is great. The thing is, the that power rank was writen at a time when the quantifiable talent of EGTL was very well known and quite high at the time in comparison to that of KeSPA, which was totally unknown at the time.
We take it for granted now that KeSPA players are godlike and have basically caught up to everybody in skill, but back then the only players to have had good results where Rain with a WCS Asia gold and multiple high finishes, Flash with some good showings when he was invited, Soulkey on the ladder, Bogus with some GSL showings and ladder.
Everybody expected it would take the rest of KeSPA several more months to catch up in skill with everybody else, but their insane work ethic means they caught up in record time. KeSPA teams experience in the PL format was also a large advantage, they analyzed and dissected EGTL on multiple occasion and gave them a lot of hard losses.
