My point is they really should have joined with the rest and put the animosity on the back burner because it's best for business in terms of their brand anyway.

I can see where he's coming from though. And certainly neither team looks stellar on its own anymore.
As for past partnerships for Team Leagues, we've had oGs-TL, FOX United, StarTaleQ, EG-TL and AxiomAcer. There was also QIM, before Quantic partnered with StarTale, but as far as I remember that only affected the IPL Team Arena Challenge tournament, and not GSTL. I guess on that note there was also coL.MVP...

Fun fact, Squirtle is 10-4 in maps against Life, although admittedly much of that is from when they were teammates. ^^

Keep in mind that Startale's main sponsor and MVP's main sponsor are competing energy drinks, so that partnership would be out of the question. I just wish that Liquid would've partnered with someone other than IM. Speaking of "western" partnerships with PL teams, I'd still love to see Jaedong and JYP swoop in and save the day for Prime.

I see your point for the number of partnerships. I don't really count a lot of those in the same league as this merger. When I said three I was thinking EG-TL, AxiomAcer, and this one simply based on the caliber of teams and their relative strength being fairly close.
The only other thing I'd like to say is that even though the teams aren't looking "stellar" on their own (especially Startale recently) that IM narrowly missed getting into the round 1 playoffs, and were certainly competitive in proleague without this added talent, so I feel there is room for excitement with this partnership.

I mean yea looking back you can say sure Startale should have just joined in the beginning but we don't really know what went on behind the scenes with negotiations, sponsors, and all that other stuff. I don't see how this can hurt proleague to use it as kind of a bandaid to bring popular players into the league early instead of having to wait until next season. It wouldn't make sense for Startale to join mid season and I would be disappointed to see the partnership go any further than that. Like I said earlier though, I don't think it's really going to have a huge impact on results except maybe for 1 or 2 startale players contributing something notable. It could maybe help viewership and stuff though bringing in more startale fans and people that like popular players like Life.

Yeah, but KT and CJ signed players and made them a part of the team. This is kind of like the joker rule in the Acer Teamstory Cup, but with an entire team. It's very excessive.
Guess IM doesn't have much confidence in its own roster lol
