You want them to run a tournament KNOWING they won't make money off of it? What kind of business can operate like that? Seems like you expect MLG to just dump money into foreign SC2 and ask for nothing in return, which is beyond unreasonable.

Yeah, it's called being a responsible business and making sure that they can take care of the people that work for them. It's always been about money and that's not a bad thing.

MLG is a business and although I love what they've done with their circuit in the past, they can't reasonably be expected to run a charity. If they don't think shelling out $200k for a tournament will get them the money back, then they probably shouldn't shell out $200k. The fact that they're back to running SC2 at all after the overwhelming negativity following SC2's absence from their last tournament is mildly surprising to me, actually.

Instead there was nothing and Red Bull came in and "saved" it. We knew in June via Rob that they were planning to operate Redbull that weekend. We spoke at length about it and opted not to operate, it did not make sense. If you think I liked having our fewest titles at an event in 5 years, you're wrong.

Theres a big difference on MIGHT making the money back and KNOWING they they are not going to make a cent back. How about reading the post I'm replying to and not only my answer?

MLG only rides hype trains and doesn't want to build a lasting base for their touring events which should be their core. Let me give you a little breakdown. Any prize giving tournament run by MLG regardless of system or future tournaments > no tournaments run by MLG Yay!
