A part of the problem lies in the fact that 95% people that have little to no knowledge of something will not notice the difference between someone good and an expert, so they look up the person they like the best. | ||

I am pretty sure the sponsors care if the player is male or female, just like they care about age, race and what language they speak. They also care about who the fans of that player are and if those fans will buy their products. Skill in SC2 only carry you so far when it comes to sponsors. | ||

I doubt we will ever see a solid female gaming community - it defenitly is wrong to treat people differently due to their sex. But.. sc2 sponsorahips aren't about skill - its all publicity. on that note - why wouldn't you give it to her. plenty of foreigners get sponsorships even though there's a list of better koreans. its just the yame thing congratulations to her | ||

Guess what? Not everything is equal because we see more guys into gaming than girls are. Also, we don't see as many girl to sprout any powerful talents that would make guys cry. That said, I'd rather it be easy for them than have it be like WCS for foreigners. No sense in playing at all. No logic behind it whatsoever. More of a demographic playing is always better than less. This girls thing should be a fact of life by now. Whether you accept it or not, not like it will ever change. | ||

She's marketable because she's a girl. Incontrol stayed on EG even when he wasn't a top level player and before becoming a "pure" caster/host because he was marketable. He had a marketable personality etc. Sure, the reason she's marketable is because she's a girl, but there are other people who are marketable for reasons beyond skill as well and have been kept around on teams. You could argue (picking on EG here) that someone like Demuslim doesn't deserve to be on a top team because he's had zero results for years, while other teamless/etc players are much better. But Demuslim is marketable, so he stays on the team as he brings a return. Rather than discussing the fact that Maddelisk is marketable due to being a girl, and saying other players are more deserving, why not pick on those say other "more deserving" players for not being as marketable as people like Incontrol/Maddelisk/Demuslim? The people who don't get sponsored despite being "better" are just as undeserving as Maddelisk, because while they have more skill, they lack in other areas. Sponsors want a return, and they feel Maddelisk will give them one. Get your favourite deserving player to improve his return to sponsors and that person might get some too. | ||

Second of all, it was a joke. No need to get your panties in a bunch. Third, people who deserve sponsorships will get it, she does a great job at putting herself out there, she obviously works hard, is educated and drew enough attention to get it. Good for her. You don't always need to be the best at something to get a sponsorship. You just have to have the right attitude and be a good role model for the company, which I'm sure she does. Though being a female, a good looking one I'm sure is a win for the company as well. | ||
