I've been a long time lurker but i had to make and account and post here, im really excited! I think we should cheer and hope luck for MKP's future in LoL.
League of Legends has become the main pillar of e-sports. We should always support and hope for the best of E-sports. For some people this is terrible for eSports. IMO eSports should be challenging and difficult, watching LoL pull that skill bar down from Dota and screw over its community by making them pay to play is ruining eSports for me. They don't make anyone pay. Sure, some things are easier if you pay, like being able to play any old role, but if you focus on say 2 roles, for example, you can get enough of everything just by playing to have pretty much all you need. And with ARAM you can earn IP even faster, such as almost always getting your 150ip boost for a win every day. It's still a stupid forced grind that has no place in a competitive game and says volumes about LoL's player base. I agree, this and latency problems (playing on US server with 250ms latency was awful, but that's where my friends all were) made me quit playing LoL in the end. Still fun to watch for me though.

So sad, he was one of the most exciting players to watch.

MKP was my favorite terran.

Some people NEEDS to realize that EVERYONE in the world is selfish and greedy.
He simply walked the natural trajectory path for himself.
Ofc it sucks for SC2 fans. But it is the smart thing to do.
You are either in it for the passion or the money.
MKP is in this business for the latter.

Just play your favourite game u are enjoying and dont think about future. I feel pretty ok with SC2 hard trying and chilling in LoL pubs. that's easy for fans to say, but progamers will keep dropping off for greener fields since it's their living If you are playing LoL you will never earn as much as you can earn by playing Dota2 or Sc2. Or maybe you will, but its much harder. I think MKP just tired enough of Sc2. I don't think this statement is true for S.Korea I don't think its true for anywhere. The salaries alone of the top 8 LoL teams in all regions(America, Europe, China, Korea, and SEA) already surpass any kind of money in SC2 or Dota2; there's not even any need to go into the tournament winnings. From a pro's perspective guaranteed money will always be more attractive than individual tournament winnings.

he will come back to us one day :'( sniff
|
Well, damn.
Farewell, MKP. Best of luck in LoL.

one of the first major stars of sc2. I was not huge fan, and I don't watch sc2 anymore, but this is still sad because of nostalgic reasons
|
Well, Maru is cuter and younger, have way cuter facial expressions
|
I'm really curious to see how things will pan out for him. Being able to succesfully switch games within a team would be a really big step in making the progamer profession viable. So many talented players rise and fall with their passion for a game and feel forced to get a "sustainable" job after they decide to quit. If a player like Marineking can remain profitable for his team on name recognition and segway (with a salary) into a new game, I really believe that that's the next step for eSports. At least until it makes sense to make games that can evolve along with the times.

NOOOOOOOOOOO ((((((((( MKP was one of my favorite terrans He brought so much excitement to sc2 I don't think anyone can ever fill his shoes ;( It's a shame i come back to hots and i haven't been able to see him play ;(

rofl Marineking is one of the most passionate players ever. Perhaps he lost motivation after hots came out, because it was a big change and the game might not have been as much fun as before. Perhaps he has much more fun with LoL now. Marineking is a really hardworking guy, so if anyone gets this transition done, it might be him.

I don't think this has to do so much with SC2 as it does with MKP.
MKP has always had amazing micro - but it's not enough in SC2. His decision making has been God awful forever and it's only once people properly learned to play the game that he became worse...his micro and mechanics carried him really far.
In LOL where he is just microing one unit on a team and for the most part isn't really making that many decisions himself I think he should do really well.

Final Edit, maybe. He would deserve it. Make it happen, Opterown.
