League of Legends has become the main pillar of e-sports. We should always support and hope for the best of E-sports. For some people this is terrible for eSports. IMO eSports should be challenging and difficult, watching LoL pull that skill bar down from Dota and screw over its community by making them pay to play is ruining eSports for me. They don't make anyone pay. Sure, some things are easier if you pay, like being able to play any old role, but if you focus on say 2 roles, for example, you can get enough of everything just by playing to have pretty much all you need. And with ARAM you can earn IP even faster, such as almost always getting your 150ip boost for a win every day. It's still a stupid forced grind that has no place in a competitive game and says volumes about LoL's player base.
Wait, what? (With regards to the italics) *Raises eyebrow*

No...
Actually, I used to think the same way you do, but now that I've actually completed said grind, I think it's a pretty good idea, honestly. In the sense of grinding to 30, the point is that by the time you get there, you at least kinda have your bearings, so the more methodical ranked games are generally populated by people who, even if they are awful, know the basics of the game. You don't find any equivalents of Sc2 Bronze players in ranked LoL because you can't have 0 knowledge of the game and be level 30 unless you bought your account.
As far as champions go, it honestly doesn't matter. IP is easy to get, free champions are rotated all the time, and most of the time a selection of a particular pool of champions is used because of where the metagame is. You don't need to have every champion in the game to be competitive (not even close, actually) and you definitely don't need it to improve. If anything, giving access to that many champions straight-off would make it harder for new players to actually solidify any particular skillset, since there'd be so much variety.
But to reiterate: you gain absolutely no actual advantage from paying money in League. You can buy heroes and IP/exp boosts, but nothing that's going to make you win.

My thoughts exactly... I mean, if you're going to switch from Football to Baseball, at least switch to major league baseball instead of slow pitch softball....

Noooooo. That breaks my heart. My favourit player off all time gone :'(
He was one of the major reasons that made me love watching esports...

right in the heart... damn give me some time to recover
p.s. best wishes MKP

well i play and watch both games, and still find it sad to see MKP leave sc2 and terran... at the same time i wonder what role he aims to play in LoL, maybe adc or apc...
|
Good luck to MKP. Countless memories of historic comebacks, epic micro, i'll always remember those days!!
|
Nooooo! Hopefully this is not permanent. Could be like sc or Puzzle he will be back maybe in legacy of the void?

At least he's still going to be a progamer... ;_;

Maru has been here since the beginning, and the Sora factor seems to be very overused lately (in absurd opposition to all the bad news). What other 'new' relevant player can you think of?

Feels like a big waste of talent. Like Einstein teaching maths to some small kids.

But yeah, Sora is a bad example too, since he was amateur SC2 player since 2010.

If you want to make a correct example, use someone with better knowledge of math than Einstein. Riemann or Hilbert will do, if we are to talk about similar period of time.

Wow since when slow pitch softball matches are hugely more popular to watch then major league baseball. You sound just like anti-LoL elitist for no good reason. LoL is here and will remain for years to come. Dota2 has still long road ahead.
Either way it's sad news for starcraft 2.

I don't care about E-sports. I only care about Starcraft, so it is bad news.
I also don't understand why people jump from one established game to another. I think most people think that they can just transition easily, but it seems that most people who jump from one game to another never get the success that they are expecting. After all, they are jumping late into the game.
Well, GL to MKP I guess.
