Hello everyone, 2 weeks have passed and thus it is time for yet another aligulac write-up. Lots of results from tournaments like Dreamhack, GSTL, ATC, SC2L etc.
Now before we get into this, remember that a difference of around 250 or less means that there is no statistically significant difference between two players, but who am I kidding, you just want to rage and yell at our stats, so here we go.
A few months ago, it seemed clear that INnoVation had one MU that was far better than the other, having fantastic TvZ, raping zergs left and right. His TvT was also very good, taking advantage of Hellbats and their utillity. However, while his TvT is not as good as it used to be, his TvP has really taken off, going 18-3 in TvP the last 2 weeks, losing only to CranK and a single map to Pigbaby. Currently holding the record for highest vZ peak, he is also number 4 on the vP list, behind Polt, Stephano and MKP. However, his TvT is his big achilles heel, losing to players like Taeja, SuperNova, Heart and Ryung in the last 2 weeks, his TvT is around 200 and 300 points behind his TvP and TvZ. Riding on the legend of the Taeja Summer, Team Liquid's Taeja adds 62 points to his rating, solidifying his 3rd place and gaining on both INnoVation and Polt. I personally think that Taeja might be the most complete Terran player currently, and can't wait to see how he does at Blizzcon. Taeja showed immaculate play at Dreamhack and the SC2L final and will hopefully keep climbing and threaten the dominance of INnoVation on our list. In the other end of the top 10, HerO and MMA showed strong performances, gaining 31 and 80 points respectively. Hopefully this is the beginning of the return of MMA, let's see if he can qualifiy for WCS S3 finals and Blizzcon, if so, the Son of Boxer might climb even higher. The protosses sOs and San both put on a strong showing the past 2 weeks, with San going 33-10 vs. a good mix of foreigners and top Koreans like Soulkey, Squirtle, HerO, soO and sC. Finally we have yet another fall for Startale's Life, losing matches in GSTL, IEM Qualifiers etc. cost the Startale zerg 34 points.
HeRoMaRinE 1586 (+26: Raidcall EES, Fragbite Qualifiers, ESET Qualifiers)
The top 5 of the foreigner list is still unchanged, however LucifroN have been on a steady downfall for the last 5 periods, with Sen finally playing more than just TeSL and WCS AM, and Jim showing good performance in both the WCS system and various individual and teamleagues, it seems only a matter of time before the Spaniard loses his first place. Alliance's (EG's) NaNiwa has had no matches the last 2 weeks, but we expect to see how his current form is at the upcoming IEM. Happy falls quite a few points, while VortiX gains 20 points, moving him, Snute and Scarlett past Happy. Finally HeRoMaRinE makes a grand entrance, with a few good online results these past 2 weeks.
This week I want to welcome our latest additions to the staff team, slowbacontron, swz, Tempest and Hotspur. With a growing number of match submitters and coders, it becomes easier to maintain the Database and correct inconsistensies etc. Also shoutouts to the ever hardworking team of match submitters: kiekaboe, MasterOfPuppets, Shellshock, PhoenixVoid and Sabre.
More previews and stuff coming Soon™

Happy Birthday and thanks for all the good work. Interesting that Life has, despite his poor results, still the highest ZvT rating, shows how incredible it used to be.

The Terran Triumvirate. We only need to have Innovation vs Polt matches now to build an 2011-esque system :D

He basically loses, but not that much, and not to that bad opponents, plus mainly in online stuff, which counts for less.

Yeah, he is still riding on his past prime in ZvT.
Also: HB = Happy birthday, it took me way to long to realize that, since it's not 20th here in Denmark yet, and I haven't really had time to think about it Thanks guys
A few month ago hellbats were still in TvT and INnoVation destroyed in that match up. He didn't do as well as in his other match ups, but putting down the statement that he was seemingly a one trick pony is blatantly insulting towards him. He destroyed Zerg and looked untouchable - a lot more untouchable compared to now but thats because Zergs caught up and did learn how to properly play against his style.
While there was a period of time he was absolutely beasting through everything, he never was a one trick pony. He destroyed Rain, sOs and he didn't lose an offline TvP for about 4 month. I don't know what time you are talking about when you are saying he was a one trick pony, but I certainly cannot remember the time when he was. Being outstanding and floating a nearly 90% winrate in one match up, doesn't make you a one trick pony just because your TvP is 70%. In fact - its still brilliant.
To underline my point only his Terran vs Protoss:
March: 5-2 (72%) with an 3-0 over Rain April: 5-4 (56%) wins over PartinG, Rain, lost to Rain/sOs# May: 4-1 (80%) wins over sOs both HerO's and his only loss coming form Rain June: 5-1 (83%) with 4-0 over sOs even July: 9-3 (75%) also with wins over Rain and CJ_herO August: 2-3 (40%) having lost to PartinG in WCG
August is the first month since march he has a negative record and thats on maps, in series he is 50%. INnoVation never was a one trick pony so while I am trying to not be butthurt and defensive here, I simply believe that is a very wrong statement.
30-14 in total which makes a 68,18% winrate. I sure wish I would be a one trick pony like that.

Did not Inno drop at least 2 games in march to Rain in GSL Ro32? Also, what games did he EVER drop to sOs in PvT in HotS?

So while I do understand what you mean, it is really just a matter of me formulating myself in a bad way, I'll edit it

INnoVation lost to sOs at Asian Indoors Masters 1-2. He won against Rain 3-0 in march, lost against Rain 1-2 in April. The games in April were GSL Code S Group F.

There are a few other minor things, but nothing much. It's mostly behind the scenes... Kinda sucks taking the server down for a day for changes that most people will never notice.

Don't worry, I will notice.
Because I'll have to figure out how to run python 2.7 and python 3 simultaneously on windows then.
So raping is a valid metaphor for beating someone in a game?
"A metaphor is a figure of speech that describes a subject by asserting that it is, on some point of comparison, the same as another otherwise unrelated object." This is from wikipedia. I don't think forcing someone to have sex with you is at all similar to beating someone in a game.
Edit: I can come with some suggestions: killing (because in the game you kill each other), defeating (because you have to defeat your opponent in starcraft - not a metaphor though), crushing, destroying, mining (hehe, because he likes mines).

While I do appreciate the lecture on which metaphors can and cannot be used to describe ones dominance over another, I will still use the phrasing rape. Mainly because it is pretty used when describing a player in a video game showing complete domination.
Okay sure, I just don't think a social issue like rape should be used lightly like this. But if the rules allow you to use it sure. But I'm just saying you should mind it in the future.

the reason to argue it is because it's a sensitive and traumatic term to a lot of people for reasons that are more important than video games. so any place is the right place to argue. there are people out there who use TL who have been through sexual abuse or had a friend or family member sexually abused, so someone needs to be speaking out for those people regardless of whether it ruins your poor starcraft statistics thread. it's worth being mocked or even banned to say these things.

Innovation TvZ numbers in the small graphic (I assume TvZ b/c they are identical with the TvT numbers and then only one mistake would be enough to explain it) are wrong. 47/75 is not 71.53% and the numbers for the three matchups don't add up to the given overall number. Please recheck.

I think it's the teams 5 best players, and then we match them up vs. the top 5 players from the other teams. It's just a theoretical measure.

Life dropping in points seems really weird to me. After Ro4 at Dreamhack and wins in GSTL everyone seemed to be saying that he is getting closer to his old form. That's probably because his old form used to be just this good, but it's still strange to see

Pretty much. He still lost to players like eMotion, Symbol, Hyvaa and Stardust, Sniper and Taeja. Who he was all favoured against due to his high rating from times now passed. http://aligulac.com/players/3-Life/period/93/ Compare the numbers to the left (LIfe's rating in the given matchup) to the numbers on the right (His opponents rating vZ) and you can see that he was favoured against all of them. Now his ratings is adjusted a bit, and it seems more appropriate

Form is winrate over the last so-and-so many days. I'm experimenting with different values. I guess it'll end up being something like 1–2 months.
Whenever you see «period» it refers to the two-week interval between two rating lists.

I would prefer it if people didn't use such terms but the reason using 'rape' is worse is because it can be a trigger for anyone who has been raped. It is unlikely many people who have been killed or murdered are reading the forum so it is not as bad to use such words. At least imo. My attitude towards using the word 'rape' in this context is simply that it could be a trigger for someone and it doesn't hurt anybody at all to not use the word. There are plenty of other words that can be used.

Quite a change of pace, I guess this means that at least we are down to arguing about semantics, which is better than what we usually get

Not the right place to argue, sir.

Period are 2 weeks. The form is still a secret (I don't want to lookup the code)
the reason to argue it is because it's a sensitive and traumatic term to a lot of people for reasons that are more important than video games. so any place is the right place to argue. there are people out there who use TL who have been through sexual abuse or had a friend or family member sexually abused, so someone needs to be speaking out for those people regardless of whether it ruins your poor starcraft statistics thread. it's worth being mocked or even banned to say these things.
so stop using it unless you're an asshole.
But "bombed", "killed" or "murdered" are fine, right?
I would prefer it if people didn't use such terms but the reason using 'rape' is worse is because it can be a trigger for anyone who has been raped. It is unlikely many people who have been killed or murdered are reading the forum so it is not as bad to use such words. At least imo. My attitude towards using the word 'rape' in this context is simply that it could be a trigger for someone and it doesn't hurt anybody at all to not use the word. There are plenty of other words that can be used.

Sorry. My comment wasn't directed at you directly and I understand you had already said you would keep it in mind. I was trying to explain why some words are worse than others, since Zealously seemed to be equating the use of 'rape' with the use of 'kill' and 'murder'. Maybe I should have sent a pm instead of making a post.
Oh hell yeah on those new features! - thanks for implementing the Top 5 Players in team ranking (Also thought that use of adjective raping was a bit off in a semi-official write-up).
