Not even trawl. It's the standard dictionary definition of the word "troll", at least the only one that's applicable to the context. Sadly, a lot of the nuances of the English language are lost to internet memes.

I know you mentioned context, but I was curious nevertheless: thefreedictionary.com says: to troll - To fish for by trailing a baited line from behind a slowly moving boat. dictionary.reference.com adds: - to sing or utter in a full, rolling voice. - to sing in the manner of a round or catch. Am I now more useful than any other of the comments in this thread?

He's quit playing competitively he wants to be more like Incontrol in terms of being a player/caster, meaning he won't be competing in tournaments anymore but obviously he's going to be playing still so that he knows what he's talking about and is up to date with the meta etc.

I think since we are on the Internet, the appropriate definition for troll should be taken from urbandictionary.com troll One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue.

We live in a world where drama makes the most money, not being nice. Most people who say GLHF and GG don't mean it anyway - they say it cause it's the norm they're tring to fit in. If you knew your CS history you'd know that KF3 (perhaps the most promising player at the time) got banned from WCG and kicked from his team (MYM) for saying "get cancer and die" in a match.

Slang To patrol an area in search for someone or something.

Could care less about what he said and I wonder if it would even have been note worthy if it wasn't around the time of him leaving the games basically giving the biggest f u to the fans whether he believes so or not because it seems like all he cared about was a surefire win, giving his fans a good game was the last thing on his mind. I think he really thought his fans had faded away but ironically that sort of attitude was why most of them did, at least why I did. Him leaving after Puma stepped on creep during an mlg was the last straw for me. Now I hope there is a bright side but I wish he realized why people were so disappointed in him. That game against Polt is just a symptom of how ill-equipped, mentally, IdrA is to play competitively at this time. He doesn't understand the basic spirit of competition. It doesn't matter if the position is winnable or unwinnable, what matters is the desire to compete. A fan doesn't pay for ringside seats, just so they can watch a guy throw in the towel after the first round. Even if that person is clearly outmatched, fans are paying to see a fight to the finish, not for someone to quit. The irony in all this is that IdrA complains that the community doesn't care about results, and only cares about pandering and 'entertainment.' A more accurate statement is that competition IS entertainment, but there are countless times that IdrA refused to compete and fight, not only for his fans but for himself. I hopes he competes again one day, but stepping away from the ring is the probably the best decision he could make.

This etiquette is horrible, I would much rather have someone tell me their true feelings that they wish me cancer and die compared to this false shit "good morning", with a fakeass smile. World of adults is really insane. Children are more sane then grown ups, took me a long time to finally wake up and actually see this. They say things right out, and its ME who goes insane in my mind at take offense instead of actually understanding their question and statements. We are all a bunch of sick fucks, and only admitting how insane we are, can we start to actually work on it. Like alcoholics do, they actually stop denying their problem, and admit they are sick.

We live in a world sir where euphemistic language is the norm and what you mean to say is so clouded in attempts not to offend anyone else it gets left out of pure meaning. This being said, IdrA's comments regarding cancer weren't anything regarding euphemisms and was simply a poor thing to say; his comment regarding the community as being fucks was simply taken out of context... Why would anyone badmouth their fanbase and what makes the money... I think it's obvious who he was directing that towards and you can see them pop up over this thread. I do agree and if you're interested in one of the best comedians to ever live who has a great bit on euphemistic language, George Carlin's "brain droppings" is what you want ![]() On May 13 2013 05:30 Cheerio wrote: you missed my point completely. What better way to crush an industry then to remove the financial backing of it and those are the people he is referring to, I'm curious about your "few" however since its about as general as the term "fucks" regarding the segmented part of the community.

Ah lol, Norwegians! :D It's a bit amusing, but we Norwegians are really quite impolite by other cultures standards, but at the same time, we are really sincere. I am guessing it comes from having 5 million Norwegians in the same area that houses over 120 million Japanese. I think the more crowded you get, the stricter the social rules become. I do feel that Idra could have been Norwegian, his manner is very close to my girlfriends. I never know when she really thinks I am as stupid as fuck, and when she's just fucking with me.

As far as actual insults go: You're a moron/idiot/whatever = Fine Get raped/I hope you get cancer = Not fine Cancer/rape etc effect lots of people and their families, it causes massive amounts of harm to so many people wishing it on someone else is disgusting.People who do use those sorts of insults seriously need to think about the harm those things do before lashing out. "I don't mean it though" then don't say that. You're an idiot is fine because being an idiot isn't particularly harmful and it's of my opinion that it doesn't ruin as many lives as cancer and whatever else.

Yes, you change the way you act depending on who you're around, that's just how social hierarchies work. That doesn't mean you're being fake though.
