Day9 is known as the nicest dude in esports, but he keeps a keyboard next to his desk that he smashed to bits after losing in WCG. Idra is known as the biggest asshole in esports, but everyone close to him knows him as giggly and nice.
Way I took this in his daily was that anyone can have a moment of losing control. That learning to recognize it and handle it is very important no matter what causes it. He probably keeps it as a reminder to not "lose it" again and also as an example to others like he showed it tonight.
As for Idra, I was so psyched to see him plat Polt(forgive me is misspelled getting ready for work as I type) and then he just gives up when he still had a hell of a chance. Even my son was confused as he just simply thought "he could keep fighting."
But ultimately bad sportsman ship can cost you and it did.

In life you work stuff out with the people you know, the only time you give-up is when you don't know who the person is anymore. This Alex guy makes out to know IdrA pretty damn well, and the rest of the EG team show great distress with his departure, so obviously they could have worked it out but chose not to.
You can go on about technicalities all day long, but in the end it's about relationships and friendships. Even when IdrA streamed with muted sound people were having fun in the chat. IdrA created this entertainment, let those words sink into your minds for a moment. IdrA created that environment for people to enjoy, he did something that no other pro-gamer could do, and might ever be able to do.
EG appear weak and frail, no backbone. If you want a comfortable paycheck stick with them, but I'd advise the rest of the EG members to keep in mind that their days are numbered, because at some point the bulls-eye will be on their head for under performing, not doing something that will bring in those dollars. Those at EG can be happy today it's not them, but remember tomorrow is always another day, another opportunity for Alex to write some soothing letter after he assassinates the richness of ones friendships and career.

I'm sure the rest of the EG players will accept your "advice" with great enthusiasm.
"[Alex Garfield] assassinates the richness of ones friendships and career" - choking on the popcorn now, gonna pass out.

I think that what EG did was the exact opposite of this statement.

It seems like if you went up to idra and said hey if you keep doing these specific things we have a major problem with then we are going to have to fire you it seems like he would have fixed that. Everyone liked what idra did that is partly why he kept doing it so its kind of dumb to fire him for it. Although I will say whether your losing or not you cant leave a game like he did against polt in the middle like that your getting paid to play those games out until you have no chance at winning, and he did have a chance in a few of those games.

They did, many times. It did not work.

You need to note that you as well as the community do not see the chances given to players by the management, perhaps he has done things in the past that put him on some blacklist, and this just broke the camel's back. Honestly, i doubt any organization will be able to tolerate the disrespect Idra did, of course his fanboys would disagree. Like what the CEO said, there's a line between personality and just being hateful.

Well it is the internet, and on the internet you can be anything you want to be. For example, right now I am a night elf rogue, which is more exciting than a EG insider.

It's extremely bizarre they booted idra off for something hes said hundreds of times before. I cant imagine the negative publicity recently actually changed 'the calculus' of whether he was worth it or not. Or rather, I cant imagine it ought to have. I certainly concede Alex etc could be in error, in fact, thats what I think.
Just completely silly.

You are really taking this way too seriously.
Idra got fired for calling the community a "bunch of fucks" and then implying that was his job. EG called him on it, because EG cannot afford to have the community perceive them as backing Idra's sentiments.
Dropping your cashcow and most famous player because you feel that he might bring negative attention to your brand is simultaneously great business sense and the definition of fucking backbone.
If Idra didn't get dropped for underperforming, I don't see why they would fire Demuslim or Incontrol; especially when they don't spend their time degrading the community and calling them "a bunch of fucks"

I sense IdrA's comeback is around the corner.

If IdrA won WCS, you really think EG would 'release' him?

This is why it was never really an issue for us that Greg can be rude to his opponents in games, or that he usually speaks his mind very bluntly and directly. But, to us, there's a very big difference between a player being disrespectful to an opponent in a ladder match, and a player being disrespectful to the entire community of people who, via their own enthusiasm and passion for the entertainment product he creates, actually make his profession possible.
Perhaps I missed something but did Idra recently do something that would have Alex make the distinction between entertainment and disrespecting the "entire" community? By that I mean, did something recently go down where Idra crossed the line between being entertaining and unecessarily talking shit?
I've been away for a while and it just feels as though I missed something significant (i.e. the catalyst for this announcement)

And he obviously doesn't mind people knowing, is that a few weeks ago Greg was officially warned by the management after telling Capoch he hopes he gets cancer etc. The sponsors didn't like it at all for obvious reasons, and Alex said it would never happen again. Fast forward a few weeks and Idra throws more shit at the fan and it was him or the company. Completely fair and justified in the end. Difficult to do, but justified.
Damn, Idra seriously going overboard with the insults, just a classless thing to say, really shows his character (or there lack of) - its one thing to say your opponent is sh!t and such, but to say he hopes he gets a serious illness like cancer? I'd watch out for karma if I were Idra...

They wouldn't. Because him winning would easily outweigh the shit he says (see: his signing in the first place).
EG do what is best for them. They don't stand for anything besides sponsorship dollars. If anyone thinks they did it because it was the right thing to do, you are so delusional it's insane.
