In any professional job people get fired for a lot less.... and rightfully so Alec Baldwin sums it up quite well in his famous Glengarry Glen Ross speech

A week later Idra makes basically a worse comment since it's directed to the community that this whole industry relies on and they have to pull the plug. Idra did it to himself sadly. Seriously. There's a difference between playing the bad guy, which Greg did some years ago, and being a stupid jerk, an insulting and ragequiting losing machine that Idra became in the last months. Even as a fan you can see that, right ? Or did you tune in to his stream only to enjoy seeing him insult random people ? Idra went too far for too long, and by too far I don't think he just crossed the line, he propulsed himself over the line. When I read posts like "Idra was fired because he was blunt", you do know what blunt mean right. If I wish your mom cancer, do you think I'm too blunt or. Idra was fired because he's a liability more than an asset nowadays. This guy can't post more than 2 consecutive posts on TL before being banned ffs, for years. Because he has a problem. Seems their psychiatrist wasn't very effective. I mean, how do you react if you'd knew a normal guy, but you'd learn he had a completely different personality online. Online he's a guy you can't talk to, he'll answer shut up to your hello. And in front of you he acts normal. I mean wtf, I'd want him to see a psychiatrist too. When EG management understood that Idra lied to them every time they warned him when he said he'd stop being an idiot, they fired him. Took them long enough, but it must have been the hardest decision of their life. They could not trust him anymore just to behave himself. And this is only about his character. He could salvage himself by either not being an idiot, or by being good at the game. He couldn't do either.

I seriously doubt he will rise from the ashes and return to his former glory as one of the top foreigners. His ego won't allow that. Starcraft 2 is not Brood War, and pure mechanical skill does not take you nearly so far as in that game. Starcraft 2 is much more knowledge-based. Self-criticism, strategy, collaborating with your peers to stay afoot of the meta-game...after a player reaches high GM, these things are more important than improved mechanics. Idra's balance-whining, excuse-mongering, rationalization-seeking mentality prevents him from ever getting good at those things. Hence why he's so limited as a player and is exceeded by players like Suppy who don't practice half as much as he does. Realistically, even micro in Starcraft 2 contains an intrinsically creative and knowledge-based element. When banelings are coming at his drone line, Stephano will split the drones and take a few losses. Idra, like any noob, will select all his drones and try and move them all...and end up losing every single one. Because Idra doesn't seek to improve his play, these micro tricks don't occur to him. Even in terms of pure control, his attitude prevents him from ever being as good as he could be. The only way out for Idra is to humble himself, prostrate himself, and start from the bottom. To acknowledge that there's about 50 foreigners, at least, who are currently better than he is. That there's at least 15 Zerg foreigners who are currently better than he is. That if greedy builds, cheese, etc., allowed inferior players to beat superior players, then he would be using these strategies himself to take down Koreans. That other players are much better at fighting "coin flip" strategies than he is himself, and there's a huge amount of potential improvement for him in this area. That it's quite possible to defeat Terran ZvT even at Korean Code S level -- proved by Life since the start of HotS. If he makes these admissions to himself and his practice partners, then there might be some hope for him to become a top foreigner again. Otherwise, he'll be trapped in the pit dug by his own ego for many, many years to come.

In fact, I would say that IdrA's mechanics have room for improvement. He doesn't even use camera keys, IIRC. His injects suffer in the mid to late game. He's actually on the slow side - he's just super efficient. And that makes me happy. Why? Because if he really put in the effort he could bump up his mechanics to be even more phenomenal. His game sense is extremely strong. He's just an extremely safe player, and sometimes he tries to reason against players who are so illogical that the effort is worthless. "Balance-whining, excuse-mongering, rationalization-seeking mentality" is just what you want to see. IdrA's downfall is what you, irrationally, desire to see happen...you really think that IdrA, who sticks to the top of reddit whenever any commotion involving him occurs, snatches up 7000 viewers easy, causes this giant 200 page thread...and was the CORE of the EG brand and played a DAMN LARGE part in making it what it is today, is going ANYWHERE? "He'll be trapped in the pit dug by his own ego for many, many years to come." "Thanks for all the support. I will not be leaving eSports." - IdrA Yeah, he's not going anywhere.

"IdrA, you can't tell people to die of cancer. Our sponsors won't codone this level of anger and personal hatred; they don't want to be associated with a player that treats people like shit." Fast forward a couple of weeks. "I get paid to treat people like shit, LOLLERCATS!" IdrA not only did exactly what management promised sponsors he wouldn't do — he actually threw it back in their faces, essentially claiming he was doing exactly what his management and sponsors wanted. Yeah. THAT'S BAD.
