This year, they're spending $1,600,000. Add the costs of infrastructure in each continent and you come to the conclusion that OMG I LOVE YOU, BLIZZARD. Thanks to Diablo III we got the bigger WCS =)

From what I understand GSL and OSL are only different in name now and it's going to work the same way it does from one season of GSL to the next. In other words, top 8 automatically qualify for next season's Code S/Premier league for GSL/OSL whichever one is next, the rest will come from Code A/Challenger league through ro24 matches and up-and-downs etc.

Top SC2 countries that won't get any special treatment: Canada won't get events and Sweden's Dreamhack will now be 2nd-rate event. Why would Dreamhack be second rate? So far the player list for their first event is better than ever before.

If enough Koreans go to EU/NA to make the foreigners irrelevant, than I guess it would be a good finals, but it seems kind of pointless. Not impressed at all by this "announcement." First round of MLG was one of the most horrible things I've ever witnessed and even though the later rounds were fantastic, the tourney was partly spoiled by foreigners getting easy qualifications. Will this turn into another Incontrol-MLG type thing, where you can coast by from placing high in a couple tourneys where you only beat foreigners?

If I recall correctly, viOlet is contractually obliged to stay in Korea for GSTL with Azubu, I don't know if they released him out of that clause after the WCS format announcement when they made their region choices.
