Thanks to support from Barracuda Networks we went behind the scenes with Team Liquid at IPL5. Witness candid behind the scenes discussions between players, organizers and esports industry leaders.
Has Team Liquid or EG approached Blizzard with the idea to include team specific icons that you could purchase via microtransactions (in context to the microtransaction discussion Nazgul had with Jinro).
I wish Scarlett's appearance was a hint she might come to TL :S.
It's always nice to see some footage from behind the scenes and all the relaxed interactions, thanks for making it available, even though it's quite long after the event it was filmed at.
All the scenes involving Nazgul were the most interesting in my opinion (apart from the board game :D), he has some good ideas and a great way to go about it.
Really neat to watch. Reminding the viewing audience that pros, personalities, etc. are still people is both critical to the brand and is a cool insight for the community. Worth watching if only for the conversations about how business and business is conducted in the scene. Also, HerO watching his own replays being casted was pretty funny.
Who was the red headed guy at the beginning? Was he the guy who owned the house?
Very interesting footage. I wish this kind of stuff will become more commonplace.
I really hope TL succeeds with the whole map making organization thing, as Nazgul said it is a mess because Blizzard makes it very hard to monetize. I know ESV has probably petitioned for that kind of stuff a hundred times, but TL likely carries more weight with Blizzard. Personally I don't understand why Blizzard don't just expand their map making system to include a marketplace and some form of private map publishing. It is one of the few kinds of microtransactions that really fits SC2, and I don't think it is crazy to assume that a significant number of people would pay a couple of dollars for the current season's GSL/GSTL/proleague maps or for more elaborate build order testers, micro trainers, etc.

they talked about this with dustin browder for a pre hots interview. He said just getting the legal aspects of this transaction across different countries and abiding to every single country's laws is an enormous task
Is that Agricola that Hotbid is explaining? I could never figure out how to play the game despite playing Axis and Allis, combining Monopoly with Stock Ticker, etc.
The rules were really poorly set up as far as I can remember- it explained the complicated version and then said to play the simpler version, don't use X and Y rules. So first you have to figure out the complicated version before you can play the simpler version o_O
Pretty amazing documentary, loved it. But it just made me realize how good of a player Hero would've been if he wouldve been coached by a top Korean team without all the communication problems and training regime... sigh
Awesome video, although it just begs more behind the scenes information. Like the ESV stuff, the entry fee for proleague etc etc. Thx a lot, love these kinds of vids!
Very interesting talk about the map making scene at 20:30.... I'm guessing the tournaments are not too keen on it? The mapmaking scene has been so stale lately since no one has any motivation to actually make maps.
Great video, enjoyed the look behind the scenes. Sometimes as spectator you forget how hectic an environment it is for players and staff to get organized and prepared. The more I hear Victor talk about e-ports (even in small tid-bits) the more happy I am to support his cause and e-sports in general.

Corwin "Mig" Mackey a long time friend of mine from poker. The house you see in the video is his house in Vegas. He also is a moderator both here and on Liquidpoker.

Appreciate the kind words, also from everyone else!

Any guy that would open his doors for a bunch of young men, in a foreign country to do professional work, is a cool guy by me. :>
Love these mini documentiries. Got alot of respect for Nazgul and his ideas. And now more so. I also loved the part about map making orgas. And when it comes to microtransactions in SCII for skins, i think it is a really difficult way to go since progamers actually need units to look exactly the way they look to identify where the greatest threats are and make desicions based upon what u can see and identify... Although i love Jinro it was a bad idea :D
Super fantastic insight. The usual audience only sees the games and can only speculate about what is going on in the background (and will usually be completely wrong about it). This is a great peek into the actual world of esports - even if is handpicked. Thank you so much for sharing it.
