In my opinion, it also detracts from the 'coolness' of seeing a GM in chat channels, since there's an extra 200 of them per server... and they're not even good, they just happened to spend their bonus pool to under 80 before other people did. tldr: WoL still has a GM league, and considering it is pointless now, it should be removed imo. | ||

The portrait border is expansion specific but the league listing is not. In other words, a WOL GM will not have a GM border for HOTS. However, the GM logo would still appear on the right hand side of the main profile screen. I believe they should modify this so only HOTS league placement is visible. I have some friends who placed diamond early in WOL and have not even laddered 1v1 for HOTS yet they are still listed as diamond league (but no portrait border). | ||

I am doing it right now and I'm only diamond in HOTS. (im actually better than most GMs on the server, but I didn't ladder) it's just silly. Grandmaster was a league for the elite players* and there's nothing elite about wings of liberty anymore lol. *= elite players for that server | ||

I guess the "league listing" you are talking about is the "highest league finish", which means that a random scrub who got into Diamond/Masters in season 1 or 2 back in 2010 still has his Diamond/Masters icon even if now his MMR is on bronze level... So basically that icon means nothing anyway (at least when it comes to current actual skill), it's mostly here for prestige and bragging rights, so if you ask me it makes entire sense to show a GM icon for WoL GM's lol | ||

It's heart of the swarm players wings of liberty just to spend their bonus pool to get the achievement/portrait border for free. No one is elite, or a top player lol. The few people I played all said "yeah, I have hots. I'm just playing to get gm since its so easy lol": I don't know, it just feels goofy and cheapens the coolness of being GM imo. | ||

I fully agree, this is absolutely what is happening - players who aren't particularly good are getting GM, and that really does defeat the point. | ||

Anyways there's no need to go on a rampage and abolish the WoL GM, instead they could just separate the leagues and league achievements of WoL and HotS so that profiles will display such according to which game you are playing at the time. For example you have masters in WoL currently and being highest ever but while playing HotS in gold currently with diamond highest ever you'd have on profile displayed the HotS diamond as highest rank and the gold as current. And when playing WoL the leagues should be represented accordingly. Same applying to league achievements or they could be marked from which game they were achieved giving people more goals to get them from both games. | ||

There definately needs to be a change to make it a little clearer where you are GM. If you're Masters in HotS, it shouldn't be saying you're GM on the score screen after a HotS game. | ||
