Finding a SK DNS server that's fast for me?

I'm located in Toronto, ON, Canada. In order to minimize lag when playing on South Korean BNET servers, I read I should change my DNS server to one in South Korea. Specifically, the one that I can reach with the least number of hops and the fastest ping. Is this correct? How might I go about doing this?

This is not correct.
The only thing a DNS server does is help your computer translate a hostname into an IP address (lets say sk.battle.net into 1.2.3.4). After your computer knows the real address of the place you are trying to reach (the SK bnet server in this case), the DNS server will not be contacted anymore.

There is no real way to reduce lag to KR. In theroy a proxy/VPN could reduce the lag to KR, but thats not that easy - why not play on NA/EU - unless you're high masters/GM and you can't find enough good opponents, KR does not make you a better player.

What Noam said is correct. Changing your DNS server does nothing.

For me, changing my DNS from Rogers to Google Public actually fixed ALL of my lag problems. Everything feels smoother.

It also eliminated lag issues I was having while running flash/sc2.

I would say try switching to googles DNS and see if that helps you at all. But I know that playing on KR bnet from Toronto is quite laggy, I'm in the same boat

Try Google's DNS like other people are suggesting:

IPv4:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

IPv6:
2001:4860:4860::8888
2001:4860:4860::8844

You simply navigate to the properties of your network's connection and put those DNS servers into the IPv4 and IPv6 options.
