At the end of year charity event held at Yongsan, it would be Jaedong's signed keyboard which would be the star of the show.
On the 29th, Jaedong's keyboard from his time in Team 8 (T/N: Leopold FC700R with Cherry Brown switches), signed by him, was auctioned off and sold for 250,000 KRW (T/N: Approx. 235 USD). Beginning at 50,000 KRW, it was a fierce bidding battle between two fan girls. Even Jaedong was surprised at the winning amount.
Along with Jaedong's keyboard, a mouse pad signed by Thorzain, a warmer signed by HerO and a fur hat signed by JYP were sold to fans. On STX's side, Trap's mouse and hoodie, hyvaa's keyboard and Bogus' jumper were the most popular pieces of items to be sold.
Funny how Flash's keyboard was raffled at the MLG Tournament of Champions. It's like the big bosses give away their equip to show that times are changing. Happy for the person who won Flash's keyboard. I wouldn't even touch it tough. It was so fuckin dirty.........
A prize of 250$ is pretty cheap as a new original of that kind costs about 120$ alone. For a Legend like Jeadong I would at least expect a 4 digit number in Korea but I guess Starcraft is not that popular after all.
I honestly would have payed more as well, I have a feeling that koreans aren't big on merchandise (look how hard it is to get uniforms and team shirts from there!)

That keyboard sells for around $100-110 USD here is Hong Kong.
wtf you guys buying for keyboards ^^ mine is perfect nice superplaystyleheavy and cost 10€
They are pretty high quality gaming keyboards, and not like conventional ones. Consider that they are expensive, plus it's signed by JD, she got a pretty decent deal.
I guess it's more of an indicator of the average korean fan rather than the popularity of the game or Jaedong himself.
I would imagine that most fangirls are either school age or young adults, if you consider that, $235 is quite a large sum of money to spend on an item of novelty.

No, no, no, no, you could never take that away from him. Maybe FantaSy could, but then they would be stolen goods and you would probably go to prison upon purchasing it.
I honestly thought it would have went for more, not sure how much but maybe $500 so double what it sold for? If Clefairy is correct in his statement about the maximum price, then it would make sense why the bidding ended as it did though.

Aww booey, I would've wanted that keyboard. But then I wouldn't have used it then I'd have to buy another one...I think I'll just get my own KB signed by JD in the future. It's for charity though, so fan girls are good.
people think progamers are idolized in korea like celebrities, but they really are not, in fact the target demographic for BW was 13-17 year old boys, so im not suprised the keyboard only went for ~240ish

what? lol where did u pull that stat of 13-17 yr old boys? Not sure if u even watched the choppy streams or reairs of people just muting it and casting it again in english from long ago during BW's prime but there were plenty of adults / young adults always in the crowds if not more so then any amount of 13-17 yr olds

I really doubt it. From what I have seen and heard most pros sign anything you present to them if you track them down, so why would anyone pay $500 instead of buying a $100 keyboard and having JD sign that. Obviously the fact that it is Jaedong's keyboard could make it a bit more valuable to fanboys, but $400 more valuable? I doubt it.
What I'm really interested in is that fur hat by JYP, and I would also like to know what a Thorzain mousepad fetched. I don't know how popular he is in Korea, but I would be surprised if he could get much more than the mousepad itself cost.
I'd definitely pay that amount to hug Jaedong. Forget the keyboard lol. Anyways, I wish that any keyboard/mouse that I used could be resold for any kind of money....actually, I think I just want to have the fan girls.
i dont think they expected people to bring hundreds of dollars especially since most of the viewers are mostly young adults~teens. $235 for an average college student ~ high school student is a pretty big hit to the pocket lol
He only used this one while on Team 8, hardly a noteworthy period in his career. If he had been using it for 7 years like the Flash keyboard I'm sure it would be higher.

I think the Flash keyboard they raffled off at MLG ToC was the one that was malfunctioning in one of the MLG events he went to. Cause I remember someone had to give him a keyboard to use during one of his matches cause half his keyboard stopped working or something. So it makes sense not to waste it and throw it out

That was the game Flash won with only his mouse and the 'a' key or something at the MLG Kespa event.

Korea's average income sits around something like 18k a year, Just because Korea isn't a 3rd world country, doesn't mean they make a lot of money. They make horribly little and work a lot. Why do you think PC Bangs and DVD bangs and such are so popular. because people aren't going to buy a PC for such expensive prices when they can pay 1500 won (about 1 dollar) for an hour.

Wow there was a bidding war just now between a fanboy and fangirl for Jangbi's keyboard that he used to win the last OSL and it got to $600 but KeSPA stopped the bidding because it got too high and now they're not selling it. WTF? Jaedong's keyboard could have easily gone for higher as well if they didn't put a price ceiling. I don't see the big deal if fans are willing to pay that much for the item and give more money to charity. Too much worrying about the wallets of fans.
Jangbi's keyboard went for 600k though, organizer even stopped the bidding, otherwise, it will go much higher. Because it is too high, contradicting the purpose of charity event.
