In the end you're playing a game not looking at art or how far you are through a song and if you're playing a serious SC2 game then you won't have time to do these things. If you're desperate to view this stuff use two screens maybe?

Why can't I just have fun and customize my game?

edit: just thought of something. when i played more, i had a hard time watching the mini-map. with customization i could make the mini-map bigger, thus training myself to use it more and improving my level of play overall. then when i am more accustomed to using the mini-map a lot i could shrink it back down so as no to block vision

That sounded a lot like "if your playing starcraft, you SHOULDN'T be concerning yourself with such petty - casual matters as how far you are in a song or how large your UI is" ... it's Elitist responses like that make my skin crawl... Going so far as to say that according to you, FOR OTHER PEOPLE, changing the size of their minimap is bad FOR THEM, is pretty untasteful. I mean what if someone thinks the minimap is too large or too small? Is your declarative opinion all that matters? I'm not just talking about preferences, someone with a huge monitor (like 1920 x 1080) would have an advantage because they could set their UI scale at the same resolution size as someone with a smaller monitor (1366 x 768).. and because the UI is the same size, but takes up differing amounts of screen, the player with the huge monitor would have an advantage. The same applies for someone who intentionally sets their resolution lower in order to improve performance (like myself, I run on medium graphics at 1280 x 720 (on native 1366 x 768).
