Thank you for this article. It cured my case of the Moon-days. Devilishly clever.

Completely agreed with you OP til the very end where you go all tinfoil hat style about rigging it for foreigners while that is the end result I don't believe that was the intended goal. Blizzard just isn't the company it was 10years and is so out of touch with their costumers continually bending the knee to the vocal minority of casual players who will dump the game for the next shiny title a few months after release.

I just read through the whole thing. Somehow, everything makes sense now. I knew there had to be a reason why zergs (AKA infestor) weren't getting the axe!

I'll join the Resistance kind sir, thank you for opening my eyes.

Seriously though, if the OP was pure gold, some replies were the cherry on top of ir xD And as someone mentioned, DK probably read this and hastily went to post stuff on B.net (making this post way more epic)

Fun read. and the most funny thing is that probably a lot of T will 100% agree with what u wrote. Time to fill this thread with terran tears

I agree with everything you said apart from Blizzard rigging the game so that foreigners can win, as that would mean that they are somewhat competent. The new HOTS balance chances give me hope, though perhaps too little, too late.

yes man I was thinking the same this moment. Sure, Bogus didnt play his best in the semis, were all ok with that. But think about the situation here: Your 3rd is getting attacked, your out of position and need to get back as fast as possible to minimize the dmg. logical isnt it? Well u cant just stim and try to get back, you need to presplit, attack and because of the unit movement split again after some seconds, otherwise this happens like in the picture. I mean wtf? Thats so unnatural and ilogical i cant describe it. the zerg knows your coming, so he can easily put his infestors in place and with a range of 9+2 kill ur stuff whil u just get a glimpse of them.

Will continue reading tomorrow, so far an truly astonishing article, with alot humor and but with a true core message. I really like it.

well regardless, stephano is by far the best player ive seen in sc2. i would agree on the fact that this patch pushes over the just ok zergs into great zergs since theyve pretty much figured out most timings + the fungals/infested terrans are probably a touch too good.

I always had a hard time to decide if I wanted to play Terran or Zerg.
I stayed with Terran most of the way, but during the last week I realised: I don't care for Zerg anymore. At all.
Not in the state they are.
Everything I liked about their gameplay - the volatile early game leading to fucking ultralisks!, the highly mobile army, backstabbing attacks - is gone.
Not completely, sure. But it's not what defines this race anymore.

I blame the infestor. For real: Kick fungal growth, make greedy early game zerg more punishable, get them some damn mid-game with iconic zerg units like speedy hydras, mutas or whatever and let there be more than one T3 choice (Broodlord-Infestor followed by ultras to mop up the rest doesn't count as 2).
I'd play zerg again. And I'm sure matches would be better to watch again.

I don't know what's the best way to achieve this, but I damn hope it will be done with the release of HOTS, because after that..I don't know if my fun in this game would last much longer.
The only tournament game that realy had me at the edge of my seat in the last months was the bomber vs polt TvT at the IPL 5. Many matchups are so stale right now, I just don't like to watch it anymore.

tldr: Fungal growth sucks, Mr. Blizzard: Fix the staleness of the game - it's good, so better invest some work,
I want my old zerg feeling back so I can play that race again.
Come for the culture. Stay for the cultural decline.

So fucking true, Nerf terran = Nerf Korea. Buff Zerg = Buff Foreigners. Not really surprised Terran ain't doing so well these days.

Hahaha great piece! While it being a satirical work, you still brought up a lot of very relevant points I believe. Namely Terran being the least forgiving race with almost a 0% margin of error while simultaneously having the worst lategame. I really hope Blizzard reads this and looks past the joke, because there is a lot in there that they seriously need to be considering.

Hey great writeup man, but one point i think that you are dead wrong about is that protoss is more forgiving than terran. I agree that they have a better lategame, and their mechanics are easier, but if you've ever played protoss you'll know how fragile they are, and that unless you're maxed with a bank, losing one army or any probes loses you the game

This was the wierd bit for me too.

Was the whole point simply that people can make conspiracy theories about anything?

What actually about the response time to ghost imbalance rather than to infestor imbalance as seen in the examples of 3base Zerg beating 6 base toss? I just don't understand what the point was...

Regardless it was indeed extremely funny.
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

This article is just amazing to read as a yet another terran who is mad about the balance these days, i thank you for writing this, amazingly well-written to say the least.

I don't know what's more sad, the state of the game, or the fact that the state of the game coupled with Blizzard's responses are so horrible that this post is actually fairly believable.

I agree with this article. I long believed stephano being a patchzerg(and a lot of others), he become good after the infestor buff which happened in patch 1.4 and watching he's stream it becomes apparent, he only uses 4 control groups which is ridiculous and drag hes mouse when just target 1 unit is a newbie thing to do and other newbie stuff he does which I can't remember.

I also agree that Koreans keep the viewer numbers down, even though this is a bit harsh I think we need to limit the amount of Koreans coming to our tournament. Like ipl5 was a complete disaster so many Koreans just made it unwatchable. If I wanna watch GSL or OSL I watch that, but for ipl5 I wanna see north American players and maybe some Europeans. Maybe introducing more US Only tournaments and for EU only Tournaments and just invite like 2-3 Koreans over for the open tournaments. Like Lone star clash 2(which had 6 Koreans not 35 like ipl5)had more viewers than Ipl 5 says something. WCS europe 100k viewers, it's time for the tournaments organizers to wake up.

Remember South Korea has 10 years advantage and teamliquid did this them self for there tournaments in broodwar times so it's all good.

About Blizzard making the zerg so easy to make white people win I just don't know, don't think they are smart enough for that.

Stephano's a patch zerg now? what?

he killed MC with roach/hydra, and nearly did the same to squirtle lol. not to mention his play is always astounding, and he's revolutionized every Zerg matchup at least once (infestor/ling/ultra ZvZ, infestor/ling/ultra ZvT, gasless 3 hatch roach/ling max ZvP), and while I'm not sure what patch 1.5 changed, these builds don't rely around queens which is I believe what constitutes a "patchzerg"?

I guess he uses infestors a lot, but I guarantee you he'd be just as good today if he used other (buffed to be viable) midgame /lategame options.
