Just recently switched over to toss, I was wondering if there is a good micromap good for practicing forcefields similar to the one good for splitting marines?

Thanks in advance!

PS. I tried searching in advance and couldn't find anything, so sorry if its bad to start a thread just for this purpose.

I don't know of any, the closest I can think of is SC Master... But there's hardly any ff challenges.

Personally I would just use a unit tester when i wanted to practice ff's. Although, dargliens micro trainer or something close to that is good. It has an event where you have stalker sentry vs roach. GL

I'm pretty terrible at toss, maybe like plat-diamond level while my zerg is masters level. I think its just microing issues with the army so trying to find a good map to practice FF on since it seems so crucial.

The best way is to just play normally. Forcefield placement changes a lot depending on exactly where you are on the map and exactly where your opponent's army is.

4 rounds with zealot/centrie vs zerglings, stalker/centrie vs zerglings, zealot/stalker/centrie vs roach/ling and zealot/stalker/centrie vs ling/roach/hydra

There's a blink micro trainer that gives you a certain amount of stalkers and sentries vs an increasing amount of roaches every wave you beat with units reset, i cant remember the name though. Its good practical training

Wish I could find the MC video where he shows him practicing his forcefields and his approach to them.

For me it was pretty helpful, he likes to hit F + click F+ click for each forcefield to avoid overlap and I feel this is handier than holding it and spamming. There's a real rhythmic kind of feel to it

Dargliens micro trainer. Search for it. It has a few different forcefield challenges along with blink and zealot micro trainers.

I used to play a lot a map i found searching for "Blink forcefield", it was basically you with stalkers and some sentries, being surrounded by a shitload of roaches in an open field. Sick map for blink and efficient ff micro.

I love you, had the old upload bookmarked but it got taken off for terms of service violations

I hope you find a custom map for your forcefields if that's what you're looking for, but what I did to practice my sentry micro is start up a 1player custom game as Protoss, build a bunch of sentries and then other ground units, and then queue the ground units to run towards my sentries (in whatever patterns and timings I wanted to practice) and then work on holding them off with my sentries. It was a really simple and primitive thing for me to set up (and there was no attacking involved), but I didn't care about killing off the army- just placing down forcefields properly. And that ended up working just fine- I improved a lot

Putting in my vote for Darglein's Micro Trainer. It's seriously great. Just try it, trust me.

Just take your time with the practice. "Initially your FF's will overlap. In time, they'll barely touch. My biggest recommendation would be to really get good at single FF single FF width ramps. When this type of FF is needed in a pinch, it needs to be 100%, or its game losing. Really do practice this one.

You will find that protoss generally is VERY individualisticly micro intensive, and in the early game that small errors will cost you the game, and that a lop sided composition, even if barely so, may cost you the battle or the match. Try and forget the mass roaches, ling, muta (insert mass unit type here) mentality, its all about the blend of composition, each unit supporting each other so that 1 type of unit can deal 1 type of damage, and so on and so on.
Win. That's all that matters. Win. Nobody likes to lose.

Force Fields snap to the building grid; you'll never be able to throw them down perfectly every time.
