Valve and Dota2 can't change the game. Dota is Dota, you can't try to copy LoL and add in tons of new Heros and items. What you can do though is create the best interface in competitive gaming. You can help teams fund themselves by letting people basically give the team itself money from within the game itself. You provide in game logo's so teams can showoff their sponsors. You provide deep stat tracking, and a great replay system. You let people create clans and teams and you set the gold standard for how things should be done in game. You are aware Dota has been around for years longer than LOL right? I'm talking like 5-6 years or so longer.... LOL is a dota clone, not the other way around.

The sky is falling cause it really is. Blizzard is just like every other game company. They're not miracle workers. They're just a business trying to make money.

Also people need to stop bringing up Dota2 & LoL when talking about the survivability of sc2. They are completely different games, its like comparing tennis to football. If sc2 can't stand alongside Dota 2, LoL and other various games, then esports as a whole is failing... not just sc2.

Its ironic that without blizzard dota 2 and LoL wouldnt even exist! Blizzard made it possible to give birth to these games and now they are killing blizzard haha. What blizzard considered "deep stat tracking" is removing winrates for people in wood league and they dont have the technology to create clan system and replay watching yet, aliens came and took the secret files on how to create these 9 years ago.

It is basically Browders worst acheivement. It was fun, but WoL is still in Beta (patches pending, not final) and HotS shows more promise than WoL ever will. In my opinion HotS is more fun, has more unit variety, and even with broken stuff like the Widow mine, it is still more balanced than WoL has ever been. If they add community features, and balance the heck out of the game, and that means some REAL unit reworking, accross the board, they the game has hope. still going to be tough though with LoL and Dota2 paving the way now.

The last patch changed so many things its absurd, and pros haven't even had time to look into it yet. Valve and dota 2 will change the game, just like eul, guinsoo and icefrog have been for the last 8 years or so. That is their primary objective. Everything you stated is icing on the cake, and its very delicious icing. I don't know why you're talking about copying league. Guinsoo copied dota when he made LoL, its not the other way around... Its hard to take your post seriously when you post blatant misinformation. How does the starcraft section of your post differ from the one destiny posted, or from the one anyone else posted? Starcraft 2s interface is worse than BWs by far. Many of their decisions dont make sense, like releasing the game without chat, and making chat look like facebook instead of nice channels we used to have. Its difficult to be social, so the only option is to play matchmaking. Team games just arent fun. Perhaps I don't like it at all anymore, but the best days of my life were playing 3v3 and 4v4 WC3, and many of my friends agree with me. That means the only answer is to play 1v1. The problem with 1v1 is how in many matchups, the game is either an early allin, or a long macro game where NR 20 culminates into 1 engagement where 1 player screws up. his HTs/infestors/protoss get EMPed, his army gets stormed/fungaled, his vikings get caught off guard and die to stalkers, the mothership gets a good vortex and archon toilets infestor BL. The game then ends. You clicked to take an expo and didn't look at the minimap for 2 seconds and you lost the game. That's what many people in diamond/low masters have to deal with, and its painful. Ladder anxiety exists and it hurts the game. Competitive starcraft isn't fun for many people, its stressful, and there isnt enough casual starcraft to entertain the masses

There is nothing we can do. It's all in the hands of blizzard to make a change to the business model.

We don't work for them. Its their situation to deal with. I think the concern is that if business isn't growing in Starcraft the money and sponsorship that's currently directed at Starcraft might be shifted out of the scene to bigger and better places. Obviously I'm biased but a lot of people see the success of LoL's season 2 event that just happened and can't help but feel their scene is bigger and more attractive to sponsors and players than SC's own scene. If it's their situation to deal with (as you've said) and "they" decide that Starcraft isn't the next big thing to put money into, what happens then?
