What I hate the most about SC2 and why I left it, is because its very stressful to play it. You build your army and the base for 20 min only to be rolled over in a single attack, thats not how RTS should work. Things die too fast. There is barely any time to react.

For instance, I'd love if the game was smth like this: enemy makes a lot of A and B units and puts a lot of pressure on you, he makes wave after wave attacks and you start feeling that your forces are dwindling and your production can't handle it. You think, a-ha, I need to change my strat and start producing F unit. F unit is a bit immobile, so your enemy starts attacking different locations with C units and so on. And in all the mids of it micro battles, tactics are going on. You don't die in a single hit but rather have a long fight, and the one with better decisions will come on top.

In SC2: enemy makes A,B,C,D unit combo, you make F,D,H,G combo. You meet somewhere on the map and the game is over. Thats fucking SC2 in nutshell.
Its grack

Right now we have four. We wanted name changes and while announcing that we would get a service for that in hots they gave out an extra free name change in the meantime, we asked for chat channels in game and they gave us chat channels. People complained over how the custom game system was working and they made a complete overhaul.
In fact most of the hots units as designed initially were to fill roles that the community specifically asked for.

Blizzard does clearly listen to suggestions and desires from the community. They might not get the solutions right at first, and they might not fix everything we want. More importantly this is also a development process with a pipeline. There is a latency between them deciding to do something and us seeing it in the game so a lot of things we are whining about might already be in the works too. Ofcourse a lot of the "suggestions" from the community comes in the forms of threads like this that is a whinefest spread over numerous pages where there might be an actual solid piece of suggestion once per ten pages. Criticism from a thread like this is definitely not going to reach Blizzard.

So far I have yet to actually hear a sensible suggestion that Blizzard has blatantly turned down without giving a reason for it. On most accounts they either do something, announce that they tend to do something or explain why they won't make a certain change.

Wha....? So Blizzard hasn't actually addressed any of the gameplay centric suggestions from the community and has opted to give us hack jobs of BroodWar units in HOTS. That's what I'm getting out of your post. You have some seriously rose tinted glasses on my friend... tons of legitimate suggestions have been ignored without the slightest explanation. I could list them all but then I'd just be reiterating this entire thread.

You talk about tinted glasses while claiming that in the current iteration of Sc2 Blizzard has ignored all of the suggestions of the players and just forced upon us their interpretation of everything. Feel free to list all of the suggestions that are universally held by the community that have been ignored completely. I am not talking about suggestions like a group of people who want the siege tank smart fire to be gone because it would make the game harder because there are so many suggestions like that which are no where near held universally by the community,
It is obvious to anyone that all of the initial hots units were designed to fill roles that the community had demanded, the problem is that in many cases the solutions were badly implemented or now related to a problem that had been solved by the meta game.

The shredder and then the mine was clearly created because there was a time when terrans were complaining a lot about being too pinned in tvz because of an inability to deal with constant runby's. The mine and the warhound and the battle hellion were all created with the intent of making mech viable in tvp, another thing that had been complained about constantly, ultra charge was clearly a response to the consensus that ultras were completely useless in zvt. Now you can derail this by starting to state what is wrong with each solution but that was not the question.

There is also a difference between wanting the game radically redesigned at the core level and other suggestions. There are a lot of people who want sc2 to be a very different game, mostly ex bw players who are dissatisfied with the way sc2 works. That is fine and all but this group is never going to be happy because they want a different game alltogether. These are the same people who complained during WoL beta and will show up for these threads over and over to skew the impression of dissatisfaction. People are entitled to think that the entire design of sc2 is just wrong but that is obviously not going to change and you can't use that to call sc2 evolution a failure because then you are using the term failure to mean "game not being the kind of game I want it to be". Surely to someone who wants halo to be an mmofps, halo is a huge failure, for anyone wanting WoW to be a text based rpg it has been a colossal failure and years of development later Blizzard has still ignored that suggestion.

Where have you been the past 2 years? Of course there are no UNIVERSAL sentiments on how the game should be handled. Do you want me to poll every single person who has purchased SC2 over the past 2 years? The fact of the matter is you are part of the vocal minority. The rest of us have been waiting for Blizzard to make changes to no avail for over a year. Think what you want but the reality won't change. Blizzard has continually sidestepped the core issues that pros and prominent community figures have brought up. Your entire argument is that community opinions arent important enough for Blizzard to acknowledge. If that's how you feel then we have nothing more to talk about. This whole wave of dissatisfaction has been brewing and finally boiled over because Blizzard shares more or less the same attitude as you. You don't think SC2 is fundamentally flawed, the majority of us disagree.

I for one am boycotting all blizzard games including HotS until blizzard get's their shit together. If we are at all serious about getting blizzard to pay attention and make real changes to their game, we need to use are voices, starting with the most important one of all, our money. We need to send a message that blizzard will receive. Contrary to what people think, Blizzard actually doesn't give a fuck about what people think on a community fan site. For them the only things that matters are quarterly reports and selling as many copies of their game as possible. It doesn't matter if it is a shit game that no one will play after a month, just as long as they make a profit from it, which they will if people just buy it blindly because it's name is starcraft or because it is a blizzard game.

Ah I see, the data you linked that supports your assertion that the majority of people think that sc2 is fundamentally flawed really turned me around. OH WAIT.

But thank you, the last couple of posts have proven what I always assumed, that this thread is just all of the same ex bw whiners that raged before WoL was out about how the game was terrible. You have nothing constructive to say, you just don't like the game and whenever there is a whine thread you all come crawling out of the cracks in the walls to spew your vile mental poison that only consists of venting about how terrible everything is and that you personally are not getting what you rightfully deserve. Good riddance that people like you don't actually play the game anymore then. The community and the scene is doing just fine without you and it doesn't matter what Blizzard does because spoiled children will never be satisfied.

I just love it how all of you armchair business directors know for a fact the inner workings of Blizzard Entertainment to the point where you can just assert that this is how it is. What fucking data or backing do you have to know for a fact what they care about? Thank goodness you don't run a big company. Any person with real business education understands that while you could run a company with that retarded argument that all you need to do is make a crappy game and get people to buy it but then that will be the only game you ever sell because you have absolutely zero trademark value. I guess that is how blizzard got known for their game making? Making just bad games and fooling us every time to buy them. Get over yourselves.

Yea it's ok. I reinstalled BW last night. I've probably played more SC2 than you, played more HOTS than you and spent more time watching SC2 than you. But w/e, you can have it. Obviously trying to give Blizzard constructive criticism has hit some nerve with you and set you off. I'm gonna take my leave before you bash me with more ad hominem. I really don't have anything new to add.

If you had even the slightest bit of objectivity you would see that I again and again have stated that it is precisely constructive criticism that I want. You however make statements that gets no one anywhere that just blatantly states that "the game is dead, there is no point because blizzard does not care, they are all incompetent" cheers for constructive criticism. No you clearly don't have anything new to add, that is the first true statement you have provided to this thread.

Get over yourselves.

im just saying that clearly blizzard doesn't care about community feed back and that If people are unhappy with how the game is currently and want changes they can't blindly buy the next expansion and still hope for blizzard to make a good game.

and bro, that is exactly how it is. Just look at diablo 3. worst game ever but since it was well hyped and marketed blizzard made fortunes

lol, you are "just" saying that you know the inner workings of blizzard because clearly you can't know at all if they care or don't care about community feedback you are just asserting stuff as truth based on your own biased view.

I wonder, if Blizzard's only plan is to make bad games and sell them based on their reputation how do you think they are planning to survive the next ten years? Since intentionally making bad games just to earn a buck will earn you money now but ruin your reputation to the point that you can't do the same thing next time. How to people get so cynical that they actually believe this shit?

idk man i think it's pretty obvious blizzard doesn't listen to community feed back. People have been asking so much for so many new features for battle.net and what have the given us in 2 years? oh some barely functional chat channels. and I'm not saying blizzards whole business model has devolved into making shitty games and selling them off their reputation (even though it is), all I was saying was the most effective way to show blizzard you're not happy with the direction they are going is by not buying their games lol.

I wonder the exact some thing as you. How are they going to survive for 10 more years? I'm pretty sure that's what this entire thread is about

What actual features that are in high demand have they not responded by adding or promising to add? Chat channels? Check. Rework of the custom map system? Check. Adding clan support? Yes announced for hots. Name change? Adding gsl/other maps to the map pool? Check. Hots. Some things that have been asked for like LAN support they have not implemented but they have also made it clear why they won't add it. I think it is fairly obvious that Blizzard does in fact listen a lot to feedback.

The problem is that the way human psychology works is that you forget the things that went your way and only remember the things that didn't. This is why people feel like there is always a switch to a red light precisely when they arrive at the stoplights. Of course the reason is that the million times they just drive past that light they don't put into memory but when it switches to red just as you get to the intersection you get annoyed and make a mental note of it.

You can't blame Blizzard for 'killing' a 12 year old game.BW died of old age Blizzard did not 'kill' it, what a ridiculous insinuation.

SC1 - BroodWar changes shouldn't be related to sc2. Vanilla Starcraft was absolutely imbalanced, it needed a bit of an ovehaul.

Do people really want a 100% brand new game that needs to rebalanced over 2 years? I don't think so, and if significant changes are made it's just going to be imbalanced for another 2 years until the next expansion.

If people think Blizzard listens to feedback or not is obviously not the core problem at hand. What matters in the end is if being on bnet, playing the game and watching tournaments etc is "fun" enough compared to other things they can spend their time on.

I personally believe Blizzard are a bit slack with the whole UI thing, I honestly don't think it would be that hard to implement all these features we are asking for "Name Change". They are adding stats now which is good, but personally I don't think we should have had to wait this long for it.

Yes, I say it's an easy thing to do, creating a UI is 1,000,000 times easier than creating the game itself <_______<

Honestly, butt hurt players like that just frustrate me. If you don't enjoy the game then don't play it.

He has a wrong attitude if he thinks he can pursue sc2 pro career. I doubt he'll stay for long.
But its hard to blame him, sc2 isn't fun as bw.
