No, you have no claim whatsoever.
*Backers consent to Kickstarter and its payments partners authorizing or reserving a charge on their payment card or other payment method for any amount up to the full pledge at any time between the pledge and collection of the funds. *Backers agree to have sufficient funds or credit available at the campaign deadline to ensure that the pledge will be collectible. *Backers may increase, decrease, or cancel their pledge at any time during the fundraising campaign, except that they may not cancel or reduce their pledge if the campaign is in its final 24 hours and the cancellation or reduction would drop the campaign below its goal. *The Estimated Delivery Date listed on each reward is not a promise to fulfill by that date, but is merely an estimate of when the Project Creator hopes to fulfill by. *Project Creators agree to make a good faith attempt to fulfill each reward by its Estimated Delivery Date. *Kickstarter does not offer refunds. A Project Creator is not required to grant a Backer’s request for a refund unless the Project Creator is unable or unwilling to fulfill the reward.
-Kickstarter terms of use
Good faith is pretty ambiguous, doubtful you would succeed in a criminal action (fraud).

I probably won't watch it. If he really is doing this documentary and he really does have a huge passion and excitement for it, I hope that the next time he takes a venture like this, he thinks about it more, especially in the time line sense. Time span to completion is one thing; gross underestimation of a project is another. The plain truth is that there are less people now who are active viewers following the scene than there were 2 years ago. The base is just smaller. The amount of people who want to see this sort of thing is just smaller. It's just a little downer whenever the people who support something aren't around to see it come to fruition.

So lawyers are a lot more expensive than I thought.
I will be starting a Kickstarter to help fund me in my pursuit of suing the Sons of Starcraft Kickstarter
I need money so that I can stay in a NY hotel and explain my case to the best lawyers to ensure success.

Rofl I knew this was a sarcastic post yesterday, good one though
I just hope that if I contribute to your kickstarter you won't disappear for two years and give us almost no updates on the case

He just posted 2 days ago on his blog that the film is about to be completed soon and that there will be a major announcement in a few weeks!

We call it "Judicial Economy" and it sucks. You are better off calling paypal or your credit card company and seeing if they will fight the charges. But its been so long, you might just be out of luck.
Also, to the guy above, that update was a load of BS. And I defended this guy for a long time.

Hahaha I almost raged, not the best at sniffing out trolls

I am incensed that the creator would have the gall to wait until yesterday and post on his blog, rather than instantly replying on TL when this thread was resurrected. Community figures owe TL forum posters what we demand. Our angry forum posts give us power.

announcements of announcements? seriously? what is this, fucking february 2011?

Will stop watching GomTV until Nick and Dan make a public announcement on what is going on with this. No announcements is inexcusable! It seems like a scam to me and if it is then Nick and Dan should come out and apologize and claim they were also victims of the scam to save face, until then I will not support them or any company they work for. I donated because Nick made a video asking for donations and I trusted his judgement so even if Nick isn't responsible I feel as if he helped the scam take place and made this guy rich.

Not that I'm arguing, but $40,000 in most places in the world wouldn't make you rich. I don't even think $40,000 qualifies you for middle class in the states.
But yes, these guys are horrible and there's no way in hell that they should not answer to behaving so unprofessionally.
|
Seems like this guy can't take the 15 seconds to answer his email. Q: "Is this the right place to change my address?" A: "Yes." That tumblr post may have been proof that he's alive, but there's still zero communication from any other route. A handful of emails, tweets and Kickstarter comments have all gone unnoticed/ignored over the last couple weeks.
Wish he'd have at least acknowledged the fact that this whole thing is a mess in that last post. Kickstarter's always a risk, but it's incredibly disappointing to be treated like this.

Its pretty sad how unprofessional Alejos is being, especially considering this doc seems to have ties to a professional management group, E-Sports Management. You think they would have kept on him to keep his documentary's image up instead of letting people speculate about whether it was going to ever be completed and drag the good name of the project down into the dirt. Though it seems like pretty much everything else esports related, these guys are amateurs compared to a legitimate management group for professionals in other fields.
I was checking out their site for any information about this doc, and it was strange but their website seems to have gotten a redesign into essentially nothing a couple weeks back after people were buzzing about this documentary again, leaving no way to contact them than some generic contact form.
I remember they had individual pages for each person their group (along with an email/phone to contact them directly), I checked as Tumba had commented previously on this and figured he might have some answers. Here is what his page looked like before. Here is his page that leads to nowhere now. If anyone wants his email or phone number to contact him regarding this, let me know and I will pass it on.

And instead of announcing anything or responding to my email it comes out via richard lewis? Yeesus.

Hey, thanks for that link. It was actually a really damn good article, and expressed the thoughts I had been feeling for a while about the SC scene in general. Good stuff by Richard Lewis, need more guys digging for stories and less fluff pieces. Especially love the part about Artosis getting all defensive when questioned, seems like they dont like being held accountable. Bah, a little disheartening but at the same time, not surprising.

thanks. First time I hear of Richard but loved the article. Accountability is something that is very important in all aspects of life, not just esports and I think it's expected of those that make promises. If you can't fulfill the promise, apologize and explain why. No need to hide it and hope it blows over.

He lumped a lot of people together with varying levels of communication. But I do get his point, but I felt he handled the backlash really poorly. He shouldn't have played the victim, since he knew he was calling out some popular teams.

So I'm really quite confused after reading that article.
Back in March it was announced over Twitter that filming was to be finished in the following days and then the film would go into complete post production mode.
But the Artosis quote in the article says " Do you know how long it takes to make a documentary? He filmed me recently and we have a little more coming up. by the way, state of play took 4 years, and star nation started before sons of starcraft. This isn't abnormal. I see him all the time, been filmed a ridiculous amount.
I Don't really wanna talk anymore about it to be honest, sorry. Too many retarded witch hunts. "
" He filmed me recently and we have a little more coming up. "
So assuming this is a recent quote, it means they have in fact not finished filming? But if It's supposed to release at Blizzcon that means it must be done or almost done at this point right? How could they possibly still be filming?
Something doesn't add up.
