As emotionally invested as people are on this topic, TL rules still apply. That includes flaming and ad hominem attacks. |

NeoDestiny on Reddit: "I'm not too comfortable having so much personal information just floating around here.
Please remember that life is fairly complicated and that it's easy to demonize just her (or even me, for that matter) without knowing all of the facts.
As much as I'd love to hammer it out and argue with everyone about everything going on here, I have very little interest in justifying or rationalizing any part of my personal life to a group of internet strangers (or trolls).
Sorry if this seems like nazi mod censorship. " ^^

I am sure there's more shit to come for Destiny, especially with all these enablers around. If he doesn't grow he will continue to shit on himself, it's a given.
I know on the internet when you insult someone they confined to insulting you back. But in real life your insult could get you a broken jaw. She broke his jaw...now he can cry foul all he wants but he should never have initiated this.

I...I really don't think asking people for the basic decency to not leak what is just about the most personal information possible from friends/significant others/old flames to neutral parties is that difficult or that much to ask. we really don't have to go easy on destiny, especially since ROOT doesn't need him and destiny does not need ROOT. it's not difficult or time-consuming to condemn douchebaggery tinged with misogyny, and you painting it as people throwing tantrums is just tiresome apologism.
I couldn't care less about ROOT and I still applaud their choice. why should any of these questions have to have been attributed to their team, what priceless quantity does destiny represent? just chuck him and be done, let his devoted stream fanbase sustain him like they'll do until he retires and stop letting his immature antics be anywhere near the scene we want to present as a united face to the world.

Again (second time I've said this) I never said anything about right, wrong, good or evil. All that I said was those comments are misogynistic. And we know that sponsors don't like that.
If you aren't educated, you might not be able to see that they are misogynistic comment, or you might not understand it. There is nothing wrong with that.
And the fact is people would agree with me they are misogynistic if they understand what it means because those comments are misogynistic. This isn't open to interpretation, it is simply looking at the definition and understanding the English language. The same as stating the sky is blue. Look at the sky. If you aren't educated in know what the sky is, you won't understand.
However they might disagree with what happened and believe we should sponsor people that are misogynistic. If that is the case the person is misogynistic themselves, even if they think they are not. Again, going back to the definition, if you support companies who sponsor people who say misogynistic things, then you don't respect women, because you wouldn't support companies who sponsor people who say misogynistic thing if you did respect women. They are incompatible beliefs, and they cannot exist simultaneously in a person (akin to someone say they believe in God, but are an atheist).
Make sense? I've won many scored debates in my days, the the key to stick to the definitions and outmaneuver people with semantics. You can't lose.

Whatever. This was bound to happen sooner or later. I don't doubt that Destiny is in fact a decent and honest human being at heart, but in my view he always acts like a child and then complains when people attack him in return. It always bothers me when his drama is happening and he says this, every time:
"Well, yeah, I was a dick, but they went too far and are attacking my livelihood" or something very similar to that.
Well, the issue is that yeah, people might go to far, but he brings it on himself and cannot seem to understand that. He controls most if not all that happens to him. This decision by ROOT seems like the most legitimate and professional decisions that they have ever made. Again, I am not an anti-Destiny guy, as far as I am concerned, he is overall a positive aspect, but whenever I see/hear about more Destiny drama, I just shake my head wondering when he is going to learn or when teams are going to learn about the liability that he brings them.
I hope for the best for both ROOT as a team and for Destiny and I hope he learns to grow up at some point. When he finally does, I think he can do much more for/with the community and for himself then he does now. Good luck guys.
|
Good choice by ROOT in my book. The way Destiny created this drama was that of a teenager being as immature as he could be, by simply having no moral respect what so ever for others and for what would be the consequences to those involved.
Be a man for your family Steve, not a boy.

They're pissed, They're people, that's what happens when people get pissed. These people have to constantly smile and pretend to be a character who they aren't because their actual character is looked upon as "bad" in the eyes of sponsors.
Do I think coming on the TL forums and talking shit about her is bad? Yeah, I do, they're in enough heat as it is, why throw fuel on a fire you want out? However, they are pissed, so their actions are understandable, if not misguided.

You people hold all these players to retardedly high standards to the point where anyone who is ever in any kind of public spotlight had best watch what they say otherwise "were gonna complain to the sponsors cause theyre big meanyfaces" >.> So people shouldn't act decently toward other humans beings and we should expect companies to actively sponsor people who don't act decently toward other humans beings? I don't think you understand business.
You dont get my point : Every heterosexual man looks at women as sexual objects. Thats not misogynistic. Its only misogynistic if he only thinks about women as sexual objects.
Thats a big difference. And having a talk about a girls looks with your friends is not misogynistic. Its misogynistic if you say "women are only good for sex and nothing else".

Sigh. Misogyny includes sexual discrimination, denigration of women, violence against women, and sexual objectification of women.
Destiny was asking if he should have sex with a woman with an ugly face and good body. That is the sexual objectification of women.
Do I really need to spell it all out for you like that? Do I need to explain exactly how that comment makes her (and women in general) out to be sexual objects?
Sigh. I cant belive the bullshit people write. If i say "wow she has great boobs but ugly" that makes me woman hater. Yeah. You guys just haven't read the chat log. The conversation was implying then women are only good for sex, objectifying them sexually. Read the chat log. I honestly don't think you guys are educated and mature enough to understand this. Sure you can say a woman has great boobs and is ugly, heck you can say she has great boobs and is pretty, and what are you doing? You are commenting on her worth as a sexual object. Women are not sexual objects. The sexual objectification is a lie that has been sold to society, and it is a recent development. Cavemen didn't wander around and discuss whether a woman was hot or not. And it is wrong. But I am speaking with uneducated teenagers who have bought the lie, so it won't be understood. Society markets women's as object. Don't hate the Pantene girl because she is beautiful, but we do hate her, because he we are objectifying her. Thankfully, the sponsors understand. You're way too politically correct, sure people understand what you're saying, but the fact is that some people don't agree. It doesn't makeus uneducated, it means that we are educated enough to understand that what they did was "mean" but not illegal. Though I guess you're too stuck up and self righteous to accept that as an answer, am I right? (See, I can make baseless assumptions and characterizations about the people who disagree with me as well) Again (second time I've said this) I never said anything about right, wrong, good or evil. However they might disagree with me and believe we should sponsor people that are misogynistic. If that is the case the person is misogynistic themselves, even if they think they are not. Again, going back to the definition. I've won many debates in my days, the the key to stick to the definitions and outmaneuver people with semantics. You can't lose. Education has little to do with understanding these kind of concepts, latent intelligence coupled with a healthy curiosity accomplishes that. Being 'educated' just means jumping through hoops and is largely overrated.
It's not about sponsoring misogynists or not, to me anyway. It's about the relevance of said misogyny contextually. I feel it was a private conversation, and thus shouldn't have been exposed. That it was exposed was regrettable, but equally it should be treated as if it was a private conversation, to me anyway.
