I hope Blizzard throws a big "fuck you" at Kespa and bans them from hosting SCII tournies unless they change the decision. That's delusional though

A staff from Blizzard Korea also said “We are disconcerted by KeSPA’s sudden announcement. We will look over it and make an announcement by tomorrow”.

Oh, that's interesting. Blizzard's getting involved. They've normally stayed out of this kind of drama.

That's awesome. Gomtv had the sole right to sc2 production in Korea and they backed up a bit and let Blizzard strike a deal with Kespa to be able to do stuff with sc2 as well. After all the commotion that Blizzard, Kespa and Gom caused with their 'ceremony' promising togetherness and working together for the betterment of E-Sports in Korea...this douche move by Kespa definitely calls for some action.

I doubt there'll be a direct "Hey, KeSPA. What the fuck" out of Blizz. More likely a public statement of sadness that this happened etc etc and a private reminder that Blizz has to decide what to do with SC2 rights once GOM's contract expires, and that KeSPA isn't making themselves an attractive option. Blizz has reasons to be wary of looking like they're bossing KeSPA around, given the lawsuits etc that are still in BW fans' memories.

It's still noteworthy, though, because when's the last time Blizzard said ANYTHING about an e-sports drama (not counting network issues)? Someone at Blizzard Korea spent a long time getting KeSPA and GOM to play nice, and that guy's probably pretty pissed off right now, even if he can't say as much publicly.

meh, everybody with half a brain had to see this coming - KESPA is kinda smart and doesn't want their stars to get smashed in the hell that is Code A qualifiers by some "no-names". In OSL/WCS they can at least say "ya, they are one of the best GOM progamers, all Code S level, so no shame in losing to them". If they lose in Code A qualifiers, well there's no excuse. I expect they won't participate in anything like this at least till HotS.

That's probably also the reason why they don't send anybody to MLG - only thing worse than losing in Code A qualifiers would have to be losing to foreigners ;-)

Also, don't forget this is not BW, if KESPA doesn't play nice, Blizz has something to say this time - they can even shut them down completely if it would come to worst case scenario...

It's funny that you think Kespa isn't letting them go to MLG or GSL because they don't want them getting smashed.

The whole reason why Kespa is doing all this in the first place is the exact opposite of what you said. They have seen Kespa players do very well in WCS and whatnot against the GSL players. This confidence in their players' skill is leading them to believe that their players can hold their own against the GSL players in the OSL, leading them to shut out GSL by keeping the skilled Kespa players for themselves. This mean only the OSL will have the rivalry of Kespa vs non-Kespa in a decently competitive form in terms of who wins and who loses, while GSL is only left the non-Kespa players, which means it will be a very lame, storyless league compared to the fiery rivalry that the OSL will have.

While it's a pity that the Kespa players won't be playing just yet, I'll still obviously be watching the GSL... it's still the premier league.

LoL. Yeah, we will see. I still want so badly to hold onto some hope that things will get better...but Kespa is just making it so damn hard to do so.

Too bad KeSPA is related to the government. If it is any other kind of organization, it would have suffered the fate of Microsoft already.

What a shocker, no Kespa players are MLG and none in GSL either. Although they may have valid reasons, such as their players not being ready, the timing of their announcements is in very poor form. It looks like they pulled the rug right out from under MLG, since they were waiting so long to announce and hype the event.

I am a glad Blizzard is getting involved. Kespa needs a strong hand to remind them they do not control everything and they cannot act like they did back in BW. Protecting your players in fine, just be up front about it and don't pull this stuff at the last minute.

The power KeSPA has over "their" players is terrible. I cannot believe this shit.
I mean they don't even try to be cooperative it seems. The moment they can see an advantage for themselves arise they take it.

I'd really like to see the Kespa players attend to the GSL, RoRo's been playing damn solid lately.

Money. If he leaves in that fashion, he can never go back and Kespa will likely try to stop him from playing in OSL.

I assume that they can, but they are under contact to their teams and therefore Kespa. Once that contract is up or if they want to buy themselves out of it they can I am sure.
