Kespa basically pays the salaries of its stars and they need to protect that investment, not promote a competitor to the detriment of quality of play and reputations.

+ Show Spoiler + Could also be part of (powerful) Kespa's secret plan to tough arm (comparatively tiny) GOM out of the picture so they're the only ones running the show again long run. Lol...god i hope that's as unlikely as it sounded in my head when i decided to spoiler it... edit: although that does make me question OSL's inclusion of "GOM" pros

I can understand it from their point of view though. Gsl is in my eyes still the highest level tournament, so it doesn't really change anything atm. The joining of kespa players is just another moment to wait (and hype) for. Hope it comes soon.

Lol...god i hope that's as unlikely as it sounded in my head when i decided to spoiler it... I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. A lot of the Korean sc2 fans are upset because of this very possibility. Back in BW, Gomtv had their own league called Gomtv Classics or something, and Kespa didn't allow their players to take part at Gomtv and they had to close after a short 4-season run. Things ARE different, in that Gomtv is much more established than they were back then. But the thing is, Kespa gets their own players AND the non-Kespa players in the OSL while the GSL will be stuck with the non-Kespas that would want to take part in GSL after they weigh out their schedule with the OSL and the foreign leagues. In the long run, Gom will be left with very little attraction and Kespa would be reaping the benefits with drawing of the viewers from the non-Kespa players that Gomtv helped create with their hard pioneering work for the sc2 scene in Korea, on top of their carrying over Kespa players in the OSL :/

The long term causal effects of this could actually be worse than one person's death when added up. But that's just speculation of course.

A staff from Blizzard Korea also said “We are disconcerted by KeSPA’s sudden announcement. We will look over it and make an announcement by tomorrow”. Oh, that's interesting. Blizzard's getting involved. They've normally stayed out of this kind of drama.

They've normally stayed out of this kind of drama. They'll likely try to explain what happened to the 'unified scene' they were promising on their press conference. I can already see all the regret and complete lack of actions they are going to announce.

They've normally stayed out of this kind of drama. That's awesome. Gomtv had the sole right to sc2 production in Korea and they backed up a bit and let Blizzard strike a deal with Kespa to be able to do stuff with sc2 as well. After all the commotion that Blizzard, Kespa and Gom caused with their 'ceremony' promising togetherness and working together for the betterment of E-Sports in Korea...this douche move by Kespa definitely calls for some action.

That's probably also the reason why they don't send anybody to MLG - only thing worse than losing in Code A qualifiers would have to be losing to foreigners ;-) Also, don't forget this is not BW, if KESPA doesn't play nice, Blizz has something to say this time - they can even shut them down completely if it would come to worst case scenario...

Yea except GOM had exclusive rights to broadcast sc2 for another year and they decided to give that up in order for the players on both sides to play with each other to make the fans happy and grow sc2 scene bigger. A lot of people seem to be missing the point. Now after GOM gave that up, KeSPA basically says, "LOL, u c what we did dere?" and only lets their players attend OSL, Proleague and MLG-partnership events so GOM's GSL gets less viewers.
