Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything. |

Well, it's not hate for the most part, but it's more like a lot of people dislike their politic in SC2. You're from UK so you should easilly understand, they act as the Manchester City of SC2. They don't build up players, they just buy the biggest star at the moment, because they have way more money than anyone else. And you know, even though esport is growing as a professional market, managers of Millenium are still guys like you and me, geeky nerd passionate about gaming and we drink beer with some of them at Meltdown in Paris, and I feel sorry for them to loose their ace player in SC2 because there was a limit about how much they could pay him and that EG didn't.
Plus, there is the fact that player are used way too much for advertises, for any interview of their player you hear more about their sponsors than themselves and to me, that's not good. Sponsors are great and helps esport growing, but they must not becoming to predominant and that what EG is pushing.
Anyway, I'm still rooting for Stephano (but will never ever buy any products of EG sponsors) and hope he'll do great, if he has no to live at the EG house I'm pretty sure he'll be as strong as he is today, and I wish he will remains the rockstar that he is that don't give a shit about consequences and all EG sponsors. ^^

I understand that concept, but it is fairly well assumed in the community that Stephano is extremely smart and he was going to med school. No he doesn't just simply get to become a doctor, but he definitely would have achieved his goal and made a lot of money doing so.
Thank you though for telling me that ^^ I will keep it in mind.

EG knows how to get it done with respect to staying profitable, although not in terms of tournament results. believe me, you wanna cheer for EG, because if they fail, then this esports fad will be proven to be unsustainable failure as well. Isn't it obvious why people hate on EG? They are viewed as the corporation team of SC2, they are viewed as the team where the players whore themselves out for awesome salaries. You even point it out yourself: Teams left and right are shutting down, but EG's not, because it has so many sponsors, which automatically begs for the question: How can you have so many sponsors if you're not selling out atleast a little? Personally I get these opinions, because I feel they hold some truth as well, however I do realize that I have way too little insight in EG's business to actually go about and hate on EG, so I won't. However I don't find it strange at all that people draw this conclusion about EG. I don't think this is why people don't like EG. It is more because EG buys good players instead of growing its own and then those good players become average players. I think this is pretty much spot on. And this is one of the big differences between eg and liquid. Nazgul even said in liquid rising that the main objective of the team is to make players better than they already are, even if they are Already code s material. Ie: look at Taeja and how awesome he is performing since he joined liquid. Same with huk when he was in liquid LOL no, it isn't at all. It's completely and factually not true.

Those saying Huk is making 6 figures, is that based on anything? Esports is cute and all, but I'd be shocked if a SC2 player earned that much at this point.

If you're actually curious, don't listen to that post. It's basically anti-knowledge.
Edit: I don't know that it's ever been really confirmed that HuK is on 6-figures, but he's getting, according to Nazgul, life-changing money.

i think that was the rumoured amount for the first contract. If I recall, his salary was lowered when they resigned him. I don't have proof though so my post may be useless for you.

I don't know how you can call it anything but hate. You pretty much described the actions of every SC2 team and player yet only find those identical actions wrong in the case of EG. Almost every player thanks their sponsors after an interview. That's the whole point of the "Anything else to add?/ Extra Comments" question that accompanies any interview. If you are that disgusted then don't read it. Don't watch GSL or MLG or IPL or any other mainstream SC2 production, because it'll have sponsors and you can be sure they will display their brand name somewhere. Millenium is essentially the EG of Europe, so I guess I can understand why their fans would be so upset about this.
|
Of course I does, even though i buy it before i went into SC2 that's not the point, I'll never going to buy something because of EG, which mean for example that if I ever want to buy a steelseries keyboard, I won't buy it though Incontroll/Idra/Stephano link, but through Cdiscount which support Millenium.
Edit : Of course they all thanks their sponsort, and as I said it's a good think that makes esport grow, help players to leave of playing which is awesome. But not every one lick a Monster in front of the camera. It's only my opinion, but I just find that there is bounderies about how much you praise your sponsors and that some EG players over stepped them.

Isn't that a touch hypocritical then?

He apparently didn't see the Complexity short documentary regarding an MLG where the owner specifically said on camera "Make sure after each game to grab a drink out of the bottle, they sponsor us and have it in front of camera at all times" lol (paraphrased a bit)

I'm sure he doesn't watch anything Complexity related or related to MLG because both of them disgustingly flaunt their sponsors in an effort to provide finances for SC2 players and a growing scene.

Stephano will RaidCall home when he has to drinkt monsterous American Drinks instead of wine. Even if he only plays winning SteelSeries of games in every Tournament he will never be Kingston of Zerg again. But he is INTELigent enough to know what he is doing.
Sport does not produce anything but entertainment. Be happy someone/ some company has the money to put into E-Sports and earns more with it. Without Sponsors E-Sport would be dead.
Anyhow ,want to see EG put out great Results not only an interessting dramatis personae

I'm well aware that educational systems in different countries are different than that of the United States's, but I still expected there to be some standards, and so that's why I was merely asking what his progress was when it came to medical school. When you say you can actually just snap your fingers and get into a European medical school, that implies that they're jokes comparatively, and while I have little knowledge about how hard they are to get into, I would find such a thing to be quite sad if that were truly the case.

In France basically everyone can enter medical school, or so I'm told. However, only about 10% of the students who enroll in med school are permitted to enroll in the second year of the med school program. Stephano has said that because of the length of time since he's graduated high school he likely won't go to med school but instead will go to nursing school. He's not as far as I know doing anything toward earning a medical degree. Because of how apparently difficult first year med school studies are, he wouldn't have time to play SC2 competitively.
