Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything. |

I would actually prefer that to any other team right now.. Just for extra chance to wave my middle finger in Slashers general direction
If it turns out not to be EG, any suggestions on Slashers edit on his gamespot article?

Scoots was mad on LO3 because(!) EG signs Stephano and Slasher based his article on some unknown "source". Thats why he wanted to know who that source is and said something like "for a reliable source it has to be the player or a team official ...". Scoots wasnt mad because Slasher would make something up like that (and Slasher wouldnt do this).

But he would get mad like that, this has been "leaked" long before this article/Slasher.

No, it's been rumored. But I don't think anyone has claimed for absolute certain that it was happening until the Gamespot article. Certainly no one claiming to have inside knowledge.

How is this any different given your qualifiers?

This would be an interesting move, Stephano seems to get along well with the EG members and it would be nice to finally have a good EG Zerg player to take over the reins from Idra, who is quite solid but hasn't put up results nearly as impressive as Stephano's in recent times. Now the team will have multiple really strong players in all two races, Protoss and Other.

People have been saying Stephano to EG since before he went to live in the Lair, but to my knowledge Slasher's article is the first time anyone with any credibility has said it's a 100% done deal.

That's the thing though, about the credibility, there isn't any.
"Sources close to the situation tell GameSpot that Stephano will sign with Evil Geniuses, which was said to have made the most lucrative offer among the professional teams, with Millenium close behind. One team executive said it's "pretty much a done deal with Evil Geniuses"."
That's actually worth shit, which was what SirScoots was talking about.

Yea, SirScoots raised a valid question. If the source is not from EG or Stephano how can it be a close and credible source?

But just on ITG when asked about it they said it's not a done deal yet but is likely.

Totally true! The person I'm referring to here is Slasher. However you feel about him, he does have a certain level of credibility, and he's certainly confident in his source. If he wasn't, he wouldn't have written the article. He's a good journalist that way. While he's not given us the name of his source, he's put his own credibility on the line. That's a step further than anyone else has gone. Previously it's been 'Stephano to EG is logical because A B and C.' Now we have someone with a reputation and a name within the community reporting, not merely speculating, that Stephano will sign with EG. That's backed up by nebulous 'sources'. I don't like anonymous sources any more than anyone, and I really think it sucks that Slasher let whoever his 'team executive' is stay off the record. Still. That's one of the differences between rumor and a leak. If Stephano to EG doesn't happen, Slasher's going to come out of this with major egg on his face and his reputation a bit tarnished, especially after Scoots laid into him about sourcing his articles. Meanwhile, all of us on the forums who talked about it back in April - nothing happens to us; we've got no credibility or trust to lose.

Awesome pickup by EG! I personally have mixed feelings about this, but if Stephano gets along with everyone in the EG lair, then its more reason to be happy about this.

I think one of the reason Stephano spend 2 weeks in the EG lair was to see how well he got along with the rest of the team. Of course I could be wrong but at the time I just found it strange and now if "Slashers sources are true" it would make perfect sense

I can understand the disappointment by people of EG. This totally neutered their chances of making this a hype fest. At least I hope we get something like the Tzain video.

Everyone and their mothers were expecting Stephano to go to EG, as it is a logical step + other indication (his visit in the lair,etc.). A mystery hype video would have never worked, article or not. It's just that the article said, that it's a done deal which it isn't and that he backs it up with reliable sources, which are neither EG nor Stephano (except if eg has a mole. Probably Machine)

I would aprove of Stephano going to Samsung KHAN. Stephano being on true Korean schedule (no slacking) would make him unarguably best foreigner and it would bolster KHAN lineup.
Going to EG would be just dissapointing, and boring.

I'm even more looking forward to Stephano's Kingston HyperX commercial... those are always really fun to watch!

Whoa, pretty huge development apparently?
If he really does go to EG, then wow, EG really knows how to do it >.<

An elaborate thing they did with Huk still worked, even with many knowing it was him. Stephano and EG don't need to come out and say its true. Stephano tells "x" who then tells whoever. Slasher catches up with a person in the know, writes an article. Sources want to remain anonymous because nobody wants to be the one to step out from the shadows of the secretive behind the scenes antics. Which would cause them to not be entirely trusted anymore. People make careers out of what Slasher did, Adam Schefter comes to mind.

Had a short convo with Talin before. Thought he was a solid poster so we had a short discussion. He basically said something along the lines of not wanting SC2 to become a business/sponsor dependent. Which I actually thought was a contradiction because he likes Team Liquid and SKT1.
This was a while ago so I could be remembering incorrectly. Never the less, I think Team Liquid has done a great job with building their team with the intention of attracting fans and obtaining sponsorships. In fact, they resemble a lot of what EG does in the SC2 scene (I'm sure there are examples of the situation being vice versa as well.)
