Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything. |

I think all the pro teams are great, facilitating our passion by bankrolling players... where is the hate coming from? Shame.
Well, it's not hate for the most part, but it's more like a lot of people dislike their politic in SC2. You're from UK so you should easilly understand, they act as the Manchester City of SC2. They don't build up players, they just buy the biggest star at the moment, because they have way more money than anyone else. And you know, even though esport is growing as a professional market, managers of Millenium are still guys like you and me, geeky nerd passionate about gaming and we drink beer with some of them at Meltdown in Paris, and I feel sorry for them to loose their ace player in SC2 because there was a limit about how much they could pay him and that EG didn't. Plus, there is the fact that player are used way too much for advertises, for any interview of their player you hear more about their sponsors than themselves and to me, that's not good. Sponsors are great and helps esport growing, but they must not becoming to predominant and that what EG is pushing. Anyway, I'm still rooting for Stephano (but will never ever buy any products of EG sponsors) and hope he'll do great, if he has no to live at the EG house I'm pretty sure he'll be as strong as he is today, and I wish he will remains the rockstar that he is that don't give a shit about consequences and all EG sponsors. ^^ I don't know how you can call it anything but hate. You pretty much described the actions of every SC2 team and player yet only find those identical actions wrong in the case of EG. While with other teams it can be mildly irritating, they stay quiet most of the time and don't get (or seek) as much attention. As far as I can tell, no EG player or manager has commented on this situation without being directly asked. As far as I can tell, none of them have confirmed that he's joining and most urge caution.
That whole conversation wasn't referring to this situation specifically.

is Kas going to eg too, I saw earlier in this thread that a link was posted, then just listened to inside the game and incontrol was hyping kas up.

If Stephano joins EG I'm giving up on esports because it would officially be jacked

People have been saying Stephano to EG since before he went to live in the Lair, but to my knowledge Slasher's article is the first time anyone with any credibility has said it's a 100% done deal. That's the thing though, about the credibility, there isn't any. " Sources close to the situation tell GameSpot that Stephano will sign with Evil Geniuses, which was said to have made the most lucrative offer among the professional teams, with Millenium close behind. One team executive said it's "pretty much a done deal with Evil Geniuses"." That's actually worth shit, which was what SirScoots was talking about. Yea, SirScoots raised a valid question. If the source is not from EG or Stephano how can it be a close and credible source?
Of course the source is either EG or Stephano.....otherwise Slasher wouldn't ever write such an article.

That would be horrible journalism, I'm willing to bet that Slasher has multiple first-hand credible sources.

Going to EG would be just dissapointing, and boring.
So he isn't unarguably the best foreigner ? that's new

If by first hand you mean EG or Stephano, and you say multiple, I'd take that bet with you.
You think journalism standards in e-sports is high... lol. My guess would be the source is from a third team (or multiple third teams). I doubt the story would come from EG (where it is absolutely not beneficial) or Stephano (not beneficial to a lesser extent).

Think about it, why would Slasher risk his rep on a rumor? It would be high risk, low reward, and Slasher is no fool.

so do we have to wait for the 1st for this to be official?

incontrol is boss he gets the players for eg . he can go this and next year 0-50 he ghot stephano for EG

that name got me excited thinking slasher was saying something pertaining to the situation/his article. bugger.

Yeah Slasher would be pretty dumb to come out and say this if it wasnt 100% a done deal. If you think about it, this stuff leaks in pro sports all the time and espn would be dumb not to jump on a possible big free agency story if they knew ahead of time it was a done deal...now it just has to be made official.

What I don't understand is why we need people trying to break the news before the team does. We find out anyways, what's the need for the Slasher's of the world to bring us this? There is absolutely no substance to this other than us finding out a player went to another team.
"Breaking news here! Stephano to EG. I don't have statements from either side but let me tell you it's a done deal anyways." Wouldn't you rather have a big long reply from Stephano, his team, EG, his new teammates (allegedly) rather than someone saying yeah, my "sources" (pro gamers) tell me it's a done deal.
|
The thing is, if Stephano joins EG we'd be almost sure to see him stream since they are asked to. ;D
|
EG? Well, welcome home Stephano ^_^...Hwaiting!!!!
|
...well at this point everyone (most people) in this thread (myself included) would feel pretty fuckign stupid if we spent 80 pages discussing stephano to EG and he went to like Fnatic

And these "statements" are interesting for what exactly? It is always the same "I am very happy, they are very happy, everyone is excited" marketing mountaing of boredom. This way it is at least a little bit of fun. There is really not much to add to "X signed with Y, because it was the best offer".
