Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything. |

Why are people hating on EG so much?
They are supporting the best foreigners out there. They could have made a run at some random Korean like some other foreign teams and get better bang for their buck, but they are supporting foreigners, and that means a lot to me.
Just look at the their last couple of pick ups: Thorzain and Suppy.

EG players touch on this occasionally on their streams. The EG organization advertises and markets better than any other foreign team (possible exception being Liquid, but their brand is different). Off the top of my head, Hyper X, Monster, and Raid Call sponsor EG. I probably can't tell you a single sponsor for any other foreign team. The fact that the richest team offers the best brand exposure is no coincidence. Beyond this, the players market the team, and themselves, pretty aggressively. Do you think Incontrol consistently hits 3k viewers on his stream because he's good? Absolutely not. He's a mediocre pro, at best, who hasn't posted significant results in a long time. What he does have though, is branding. People watch him because of the "Incontrol" brand. The other EG players all do the same thing more or less, and it pays off hugely.

Stephano if he leaves and joins EG, its actually a good thing for SC2. Why do you ask? Because if Stephano, and ThorZain never got picked up by EG, they would most likely both have retired from SC2. Stephano stated many times that he wanted to retire make as much money and then leave the scene, just like ThorZain. If there was no EG, Stephano and ThorZain probably would have retired and most of you guys would probably just cry.
So EG is actually giving them a chance to still play and make money, just how they liked. Stephano was going to EG you can just tell he blends into the team so well that if he didnt, it would make no sense. Everyone here should expect him going to EG so most of you have to quit crying because if there was no EG they most likely would have retired. Money yes, but if he starts performing worse and worse like somehow all players who joined EG did, i'm not sure wich is worse EG seems to be good for esports as a business, but not for the sport itsself. Name me players who performed bad when they joined EG? Huk - He won MLG Orlando if you dont remember? and he was in the GSL for awhile before getting knocked out ThorZain - Won WCS Sweden, do you expect more results? JYP - Did well in the team leagues but constant Code A player Puma - NASL Season 2 Champion and does extremely well in most tournaments he joins Suppy - Recently joined played 1 tournament under the EG banner did fairly well I wouldn't even bother. Sense and reason doesn't mesh well with the hoard of mindless EG haters. "EG Curse" is just another troll spawned by twitch like "Stephano USA" comments. At this point anyone making such a statement has to be trolling or trolling. What has Protosser done since joining Mouz? Omg Mouz Curse. What has Dragon done since joining Mill? Omg Mill curse. What about all the players on Quantic, Dignitas, Liquid, Empire, RoxKis, FXO, Fnatic, ROOT etc.. with no results? Foreigner curse is the only answer! this no way telling an ignorant child reason
Can't have a curse on the other teams because you'd need a prestigious win to be curse in the first place. Hence HuK with dreamhack/HSC, Thorzain on dreamhack, puma with Nasl, and now possibly Stephano with all his winnings. But I guess ignoran children run on both sides huh?
It's funny how EG fans get so butthurt and defensive as if curses exist anyway. Relax and take a deep breath.

EG are just dominating the foreign SC2 scene now and their style is hardly conducive of improving the players they get and creating a hard-working passionate scene. I think I will just stick to GSL viewing only in the SC2 pro scene from now on........ I may not have much of a connection with any of the players but at least those guys are striving for excellence, there is something in that

Last time I checked, Starcraft is an ESPORT. I don't have to golf clap every single player. There are teams ill root for and teams that ill hiss at, and eg is one of them. Know why people hate the Miami Heat or the NY Yankees? Because nobody likes stacked teams or teams that can monopolize the talent, especially when foreign talent pool is small.

Hate to be that guy but EG despite all, is the best American team. (American as in all America, North and South)

Good luck man, you deserve it. I hear its more like +15k$ per month. I hope you're not delusional enough to believe that. They make $50-60k a year MAX... and I think I'm being generous there. Honestly most of you are probably not out of high school and don't have a clue about salaries in the real world... $15k/month = $180,000 / year. That's more than engineers with 20 years work experiences, on par with average doctors salaries, etc.. You really believe someone who plays a video game that ONLY contributes sponsor exposure makes THAT much money? Seriously, you people need to get a clue.
You got no idea what you talking about. Stephano will get one of the world´s highest payed salaries for a Starcraft player. 15k$ per month isn't bad guess. I think it will be between 12-16k$ but we will see I'm sure EG will PR the shit out of his salary
And BTW I'm a mechanical engineer I know exactly how much we make!

Pretty much this... People watching players like Incontrol and Idra for their "brand" (bad jokes, rage, etc.) not for their "awesome" playstyle like they do when they watch stephano or korean players for example.

Sponsors.
EG has the following sponsors:
- Raidcall
- Intel Extreme Boards
- Steelseries
- Monster Energy Drink
- Kingston HyperX
- Beyond Gaming
- Sapphire
- Six Pool Gaming
- IN WIN
- Split Reason
- Slappa
- Gunnar
With RC now being one of their title sponsors, they probably got more than enough for Stephano.
EDIT: And also, they sell merchandise through Split Reason, Steelseries (I recall an EG Mousepad from there) and are basically marketing tools for Kingston HyperX. Plus the team probably takes a cut of stream revenue.

Ehhhh...Watching GSL, WCS Korea and OSL makes watching foreigners seem so boring and slow. For me personally I cant stand watching foreigners anymore with only a few rare exceptions. The skill gap is just so massive now that it is simply unbearable to watch foreigners.
Although I must admit, I get a slight tingle of happiness every time I see a Korean smash the dreams of a "high tier" foreigner who has hoards of fan boys. ie: MVP pwning Nerchio at IEM & Oz Pwning Stephano twice at MLG.

Off the top of my head, Liquid' has TLAF and Razer. Mousesports I think has Razer. Fnatic and Na'Vi have Steelseries. Quantic has Razer. That's about as much as I can remember (oh, and Tyler had Stride). EG has, without looking, RaidCall, Steelseries, Intel, Kingston, Monster, Bigfoot, 6-Pool Gaming, InWin, Splitreason, Beyond Gaming and Sapphire. It's not that they have so many sponsors which is impressive; it's that people actually know who they are. Going back and looking, the only two I didn't get were Slappa and Gunnar (and Bigfoot Networks isn't listed on their page anymore).
If you want money, you need to provide roi. EG does that to an unparallelled degree. In the SC2 world, maybe IM is close, but I don't think anyone else is.

I've been hearing rumors about this for the last week or so, does anyone know why EG or Millenium or Stephano hasn't publicly came out and said something yet? I wonder if nothing has been announced yet because Stephano hasn't made up his mind yet... and if that's the case it's probably because his heart is with Millenium.

The problem with EG for most people is that they have the image like "fu** it, we have money, we'll take your best player and you can't compete with us", while Stephano has been with Millenium since 4 years, they help him a lot, believe in him and in his talent even when he was playing badly. You don't see any player at EG that grew in skills to be a strong player, all best EG players were already strong before they went to EG.
Anyway, a little sad for millenium but happy for him, hope he'll continue with his success, may the next MLG be the last victory for Millenium Stephano!
