Think before you post. This should go without saying, there are so many people making absolutely idiotic comments in this thread. If you have nothing constructive to say, please don't say anything. |

Stephano if he leaves and joins EG, its actually a good thing for SC2. Why do you ask? Because if Stephano, and ThorZain never got picked up by EG, they would most likely both have retired from SC2. Stephano stated many times that he wanted to retire make as much money and then leave the scene, just like ThorZain. If there was no EG, Stephano and ThorZain probably would have retired and most of you guys would probably just cry.
So EG is actually giving them a chance to still play and make money, just how they liked. Stephano was going to EG you can just tell he blends into the team so well that if he didnt, it would make no sense. Everyone here should expect him going to EG so most of you have to quit crying because if there was no EG they most likely would have retired. Money yes, but if he starts performing worse and worse like somehow all players who joined EG did, i'm not sure wich is worse EG seems to be good for esports as a business, but not for the sport itsself. Name me players who performed bad when they joined EG? Huk - He won MLG Orlando if you dont remember? and he was in the GSL for awhile before getting knocked out ThorZain - Won WCS Sweden, do you expect more results? JYP - Did well in the team leagues but constant Code A player Puma - NASL Season 2 Champion and does extremely well in most tournaments he joins Suppy - Recently joined played 1 tournament under the EG banner did fairly well I wouldn't even bother. Sense and reason doesn't mesh well with the hoard of mindless EG haters. "EG Curse" is just another troll spawned by twitch like "Stephano USA" comments. At this point anyone making such a statement has to be trolling or trolling. What has Protosser done since joining Mouz? Omg Mouz Curse. What has Dragon done since joining Mill? Omg Mill curse. What about all the players on Quantic, Dignitas, Liquid, Empire, RoxKis, FXO, Fnatic, ROOT etc.. with no results? Foreigner curse is the only answer! this no way telling an ignorant child reason

You guys take this "curse" or EG-antifan crap way too seriously.
90% of us who made some sort of derogatory remark about the EG issue are just jesting. It's just a fun running joke, next to no one is really serious about EG being a bad team...
We all love Demuslim, we all enjoy Incontrol's witticisms, we all hope for the return of IdrA and we all shit on the EG frathouse. There's no hostility, only tough love for the leading foreign ESPORTS team...

It was in the press release interview. Stephano has said a number of times that he doesn't know how long he will keep playing SC2. And people opinions in this thread kinda suck. because its 80% of kids on these community forums who dont kno the business side of the industry or how 2 spell

They will retire fast anyways, because, let's face it: They are bright guys. This is the time of their whole life, where the foundation for the rest of their life is laid. Do you really think Stephano is getting wet eyes because of 50K bucks/year? He just gets some money to pay his house while studying, that's it. If he wants to get a doc, he hasn't got to much time to waste. He is gonna earn more than double of his SC2 salaries, when he is done with his education. And it will be a crisis-proof job you can do until you are old. Progaming is not. So EG, thanks for nothing!
Except he's won more than 100K bucks in tournaments in the past 12 months (check sc2earnings), add to this the streaming income, the sponsor income, the (now) team salary, the team-paid travelling, the fans all around the world and some other stuff I can't even think about, he's probably above the 200k per year...even if he aims to become a doctor, as a 19 y.o., it'd be silly to give it up without a second thought.

It's called hard work.

As a side note, 10000/month is a really huge sum even for "real" sports. Of course, football is on a league of its own in France (average salary of 40K/month in euros), but Stephano's alleged salary put him on the same level as a bad basketball (Pro A: average salary of 10K/month in autos) player, a normal rugby pro (9K/month) or a top world player in handball.

They don't care how well their players actually do so long as they're famous. Famous players plugging the sponsors at every possible chance means more money for EG as an organization. It isn't about results, it isn't about tournaments, and it isn't about the game: it's about money.
In that regard, Stephano's a perfect fit.

Do you really think any team is sustained soley by their player's tournament winnings?

Don't care about EG or any team really but really happy to see players get money. GET PAID SON

If Stephano does go to EG (pretty sure that's the case) one thing to note is that they will have potential to do damage in any Team League of their choice. There team is starting to get to the Yankee's of SC foreigner scene status. Plus Stephano is a marketable player and that is something they need right now with Huk not streaming that much and JYP and Puma not having the biggest crowd following they could use a marketable player. Also it's a good fit for Stephano as much as I don't like the guy he is a ridiculously good Zerg who could do well under the fatherly coaching of iNcontrol and it will be really good to have a team full of players that are good in every race. Overall it makes sense for both sides for Stehpano to go to EG. So good luck EG and maybe with this you might be able to beat your rivals the greatest team alive Liquid!!!

I would really love them to release the salary for once...

Really hope this is true, EGStephano would be sick!

If he does join EG, I hope casters will call him "Stephan-orc".
Get it?

I see this as unnecessary pick up for EG, do they really need another top tier player? Is EG unhappy with Idra :-> ?, can't help it, I wish him luck, oh... but it's still not enough to beat Taeja, sorry EG.

He has pretty huge marketability being the best non-kr zerg and brings in more of a european (french especially) audience to an NA centric company.

Plus they do far more than any other team to advertise their sponsors.
Sponsors like that.

Congrats to Stephano for joining EG. Its one of the most stable teams in the SC2 scene right now, congrats!
