A minor bugfix patch, 1.5.1, has been deployed on the TW/KR server. Patch notes can be found below and here in Traditional Chinese
T/N: I'm not very familiar with Mac so that section might not be very accurate.
Bugfix General When navigating the Campaign page, a team mate joining matchmaking queue no longer cause a crash. Using Ctrl+F no longer cause the camera to follow the selected unit. Leaving a multiplayer game during loading screen no longer cause a crash. Fixed an issue that causing baselineCache.bin corrupted permanently.
Battle.net Fixed an issue that the profile page does not show the correct ladder information. Viewing the "Friends" section of Leagues and Ladders page no longer crashs the game. Hovering on the "Show More" button in Open Game list no longer displays incorrect text. The 1v1 match history no longer sometimes show incorrect data. The "My Leagues" page in the fast navigation window no longer show a spinning loading icon.
Mac Command+Click now correctly works as Right-Click. Disabling the system keyboard hotkeys no longer stuck at the exit screen.
They also updated the launcher with some links to eSports news, which is a nice addition considering that LoL and DotA2 have had a heavy focus on eSports in their clients.
I also got an update for the EU Client, but on the intro screen it still says 1.5.0.22612, and CTRL + F does still (sometimes?) follow a selected unit. So seems we have to wait another week for this unless they patch it on another day than Wednesday.
The patch isn't live yet. Only the new launcher and patch notes are up, KR bnet news says the patch is applying Thursday between 5am and 6am KST, not sure about other regions.

Aww... and I thought I was feeling less lag. Seriously, less freeze today, but I guess it's just random.

This might actually be part of addressing it, at least the random jolting that a lot of players are getting, different performance issues might take a little bit longer to address because it's difficult to tell if it's caching issues or software problems right now.
I could be completely off base and baselingCache.bin might not be anything to do with the shader cache, but we'll just have to wait and see.
I fully updated the huge patch, now whenever I hit the play button on the new launcher thing, it loads up the game, promptly quits it and brings up the launcher again ad infinitum Anyone worked out how to get around it yet?

I like this... It was weird to me that WoW and Diablo 3 had this launcher but SC2 didn't.
For those on SEA who have clients which keep cycling back to the installer. This is happening because NA has received the patch and SEA hasn't yet, so if you try to logon to NA it'll kick you back to patch something which our region hasn't got yet.
If you're stuck on NA, change the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\S2\LastPortal-enSG to sg for SEA or us for NA.

Why incognito?
You don't want to know what the imgur tab is displaying.

I do private browsing and incognito all the time. Although it isn't for lewd things.
Edit:' MWUHAHAHA NA server is finally back up! :D :D :D
So it was 5 to 6, then 5 to 7:30, then 5 to 8:30...
Well I'm glad I waited an hour, and then another hour, expecting to be able to play in short order. If they told me I'd be waiting over 3 hours in the first place then I probably would have ended up doing something productive.

replays broken for anyone else? whenever i try to open one i either get a "unable to open replay" or "the mod data loaded does not match the mod data which was originally used to play this game"
im using the sc2 region changer if that has anything to do with it

They didn't fix the lag....My computer should not be getting any either. 8GB RAM, Radeon 5870. Plenty of horsepower for Ultra setting that before the patch, I received no lag

My web browser is a Chamber of Secrets that should never be opened.
Also, I am still getting a stutter even after this hotfix. I've gotten used to it, however, so it isn't too much of an issue when I 1v1.
My god, 10 minutes in and I already encountered a bug -_- Was in a chat channel with a bunch of people and suddenly everyone was kicked from the channel and it went void. Rejoined and it was empty.
On August 09 2012 01:20 walklightwhat wrote: Are the crashes at the login screen happening for others, or have I just managed to break something in my game?
happening for me too, once i changed region from SEA to NA it instantly crashed and restarted. and again. and again.
On August 08 2012 16:12 FabledIntegral wrote: No addressing FPS issues?
My thought exactly. Computer like mine (Core 2 Quad 2.66 ghz, 2 gb ram and 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT) suffers from any signicant FPS drop.
do you think that you're computer is good??... i hope you're running all low...
This computer with additional 1gb of ram can run game smoth on medium with 35+ fps all the time.

Oh hey look at that, I'm lagging into every single game 10 seconds after my opponent. This shit has been going on for 2 weeks with no resolution from their support people. Fucking ridiculous. Game unplayable. Thanks, Blizzard! The new buttons are so fucking great, I get to stare at them a lot now as the menu is the only part of the game I can experience.
Yeah NA servers up now after the patch was applied. Good on Blizzard for fixing the bugs, just hope they fix all of them(like the fps issue, even though it doesn't really affect me)

In the career page, there are 4x4, 3x3, 3x3 and 2x2.
My computer which used to run the game completely smoothly at medium settings now plays on low settings like my 8 year old computer did. I checked and this patch did nothing to fix that. I cannot play until it's fixed, as my game hangs for several seconds during any engagement.
Sucks that I still can't even play the game due to massive fps lag. I used to play at max settings and it ran so smoothly too! Maybe now I'll get some actual work done...
Now I'm having a problem whereby I click the play button, and the game loads up to the login screen but it exits the game abruptly before I can do anything else. Anyone else having the same problem? My client is fully updated.

Oh I hope so. My issue was mainly the jolting, where say my hotkeyed army on 4 (I use 4 instead of 1) is suddenly under attack, I double click 4 and as the screen now gets centered on an enemy Zerg army rushing into my bionic army, I see a single screen shot of a lot of lings and banes, and then a second later I am able to micro again, causing me to lose almost every battle cost inefficiently.
It's affected Zerg the least by far, whenever I play Zerg I still get the issue and even though my micro becomes completely suboptimal (especially when siege tanks aggro your army and you can't keep them back), at least when I'm trying to engage it's the most A-move friendly (save maybe a Protoss composition not relying on FF or storms).
They need to change the Command+Click back. I used this all the time to select unit types. Why can PC users have a hotkey that does it when Macs don't??? At least give me the OPTION to do so Blizzard. Sure, give people who need that right click, but don't take something out by putting it over something people use. Either that or take control+click away from the PC players. There is nothing in the hotkey menu about this so I'm stuck this way. And to make matters worse, the default quick ping hotkey is Command+Option and Leftclick anywhere. The only problem with that is once you hold Command, you can't LEFT click! Brilliant Blizzard.
I'm getting an error that I need an authorized Blizzard language pack. Maybe that has something to do with me having 2 accounts (1 EU and 1 AM) under the same email?

what do you mean PC users have a hotkey for selecting unit types? I've always just double clicked for that. I'm unfamiliar with how the mac setup was before and after 1.5 so I guess I'm not sure what the problem is, but having a hotkey changed doesn't really seem like a huge deal.
the default quick ping hotkey is Command+Option and Leftclick anywhere
bolded for emphasis. i know for a fact you can change that hotkey in the options to anything you want.

I know it's just the default, but it shows they didn't think it all the way through. You can control+click a unit and select all units that are the same. So if you control click a stalker, you get all stalkers that you can see. But now I can't do that. Just the fact that the functionality is different between a PC and a Mac isn't right when they clearly took it away from one. It's a simple thing, yes.
Before 1.5, there was apparently an option where you could hold the command button to left click as a right click. But now after 1.5.1, there is no option. It is just automatically that way and I can't seem to find a way to revert it.
Ok I got a problem with my TW client, it wont update, the updater thing starts and then nothing happens. And since I cant read Chinese I have no idea what is up or how I can fix things, anyone have any idea what could be wrong? My SEA client updated like it should.
the map search system seems very buggy... I can find maps in "vs AI" but not in custom (so I can play maps like the new balance map vs AI but can't find it to make vs real opponents).
On August 08 2012 18:15 bOneSeven wrote: well since they took several months to screw SC2 for cheap PCs, I guess it will take mb 1 year to fix it.
It's not just cheap machines, a lot of high end intels are suddenly having difficulties with 1.5. But then those of us with powerful AMD based rigs have always had unexplicably poor performance from sc2. Anyone else get the impression there's only a couple of guys working on this? They really need a few more/better engine coders....
On August 08 2012 16:16 Trasko wrote: YESSS. They fixed the Command click issue! I'm so glad. That was such a pain in the ass not having... I'm glad!
But where in the world is Command+click a right-click? Usually it is ctrl+click !!! And I was happy with how it was before.. Because I am using a mouse with (at least) two buttons, even on a Mac, I mean if you like to play starcraft, and you wanna move your units, set waypoints and so on, you want to use ctrl-click for that instead of right-click? I don't think so. What Bug now occurs: I told the settings to swap ctrl and command key, so using control groups works with command key and still works. But if you like to select a unit and all of them of a specific kind, for you Windows users it's doubleclick or ctrl-click on the unit, for me it was command-click on the unit, which now doesn't work anymore. When I change the "swap keys" back to ctrl, it works with ctrl, but I prefer using controlgroups with the command key ... So now I need to change my habit to doubleclick the units i want
so.. a hundred people (if not less) has reported the issue. that still doesnt make up "a large portion" of players unless you for some reason think that the starcraft playerbase consists of around 200 people.
edit: just did the math. assuming starcraft has 50,000 active players (according to that battle.net statistic thing when you log in) 100 players would make 0,2% sooooo.. apparently i was being very optimistic when i said 5%
so let's assume that not every single user has reported the issue and just multiply it by 10, that'd still only be 2%
edit edit: and just to make it clear, 2% is not a "large portion"
edit edit edit: it might have been 500,000 and not 50,000, i honestly dont remember, eitherway it'd still be a minority.
I've got acc @tlnet for many years and I only got few posts. I've never posted anything on the bnet forums, nevermind I'm playing BW and SC2 for over a decade.
Better stop trolling with your subjective opinion and try to contribute for the thread.

Its so harsh but so true... like 1/3 of TL community , oh maby 1/4 , dont even play Sc2 or BW but they act like pro players at forums. They blame blizzard all the time , with post like that " Its so bad.. blizzard is funny... but i didint try it yet..but it sucks.."

Why you can't do same?
This is a discussion about a bugfix patch. The massive lag due to loading assets mid-game is an obvious bug. Why are you so bent on arguing with someone about whether he should be bothered by a bug in a thread about bug fixes? The fact that there is a workaround that works for some people (it does not solve all the lag problems people have been reporting) doesn't mean that it's not a bug, and it certainly doesn't mean people affected by it don't have a reason to be frustrated. The fact that we've figured out some workarounds for some of the bugs isn't the same as the bugs being gone, and professional software shouldn't require its users to learn how to delete cache folders and design and run special replays or maps that force the cache to be prepopulated so that they can play.

Please explain steps about cache and so called refreshing. If you mean latest drivers, yes, I have them.
You can delete the cache by following the instructions here (http://us.battle.net/support/en/article/deleting-the-battlenet-cache-folder-pc). There is an executable (I can't find the post I saw that mentioned it) that is supposed to prepopulate your cache. You can also watch a replay like this one (http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/xrl8p/working_temporary_solution_to_15_stuttering/), which plays every animation once, to force the assets to be cached before playing a game.

I see no difference, but thanks anyway. My CPU is older (Core 2 Duo), so it has nothing to do with i5/i7's stuttering. ^^

who are you talking about.
Why would you want to play the game when bugs prevent you from playing, and so you're asking on the forums for help?
I'm curious if reverting the patch until they got the major bugs out is the best way to go. I'm not sure myself but I hope this gets taken care of soon. Many people have experienced a lesser gaming experience or no gaming experience at all because of this.

and alot have no idea what they are looking at... Sure i get 200 some fps, which is 50+ fps from the previous patch by just looking at the start of the game, but 20 minutes in its 10... if you have the gradual FPS drop over time as more units get added, none of the suggested fixes fix it. how many lower level players honestly max as well quite often to notice a drastic decrease? as ive noticed a trend with most people complaining about the FPS drops are masters and up...

i still can't play since in all low i've 5fps at most during an engagement compared to 50-60 before 1.5 while running everything on ultra, but i know it's my comp kk. gtfo if it doesn't affect you but don't downplay it.

lol. no idea what i'm looking at? you mean the slideshow effect that people are claiming? okay. how would one go about not noticing a slideshow effect while playing? right, because my FPS increasing 30 fps more at the start of the game only to drop to 10 after 20 minutes, resulting in a slideshow effect is not noticeable.
my fps does drop after 20 minutes, but is still around 140. again, HIGHER than what was happening previously.
while i won't deny that the problem exists, brushing off my remarks as factually inaccurate is laughable.
furthermore, not that my level of play should even remotely matter, i'm masters.
