This is my first post here on these forums but I'm huge fan of TL community since Broodwar - one of my favourite games ever
I've always liked to invent new monsters and draw them, or tried to draw characters from games I play. Recently I decided (out of nowhere) to give it a try and... sculpt something instead! My first choice was obvious - it must be something from Starcraft! When I actually bought Super Sculpy (polimer clay that I use), I knew already I'll just make Zeratul (the one from Starcraft II) cause he looks easy enough :|
So this is actually my very first creation in Polymer Clay. I started to sculpt (and never had anything to do with that kind of work before, sculpting AND painting) at the begining of this year. I used metal whired armateur and I also made a wooden stand so It can actually look like a figure and the whole thing is painted with Acrylics. So pretty basic stuf right?
I cant say that Im VERY happy with the results (mostly because of my sloppy hands and that I left a finger print here and there and I would done couple of thing better now etc.) But all In all it came out OK don't You think?
I also made a figure from my other favorite game Left 4 Dead (Smoker) and two figures from Diablo III (Butcher and Witch Doctor - yes, I love all Blizzard games^^), but I don't see a point of posting their pictures here in Starcraft forums. If you want to have a look at my other figures though, feel free to visit my Facebook fanpage as I have no regular webpage. Simply type my nickname ELENEM in a search bar, I'm puttting more pictures from my recent work over there.
I am curious if you like the results! And if you have an idea for another figure from Starcraft world, please let me know - I am always looking for new inspirations!
That looks really awesome, the small little textures, the attention to detail! Though I believe he would look even better if he had his warp blade powered up, though it would probably be hard to find the materials to recreate the glow effect.

you and flash should get together and be unimpressed with amazing things together :D
that sculpture is incredible! nice work man make MOAR!
Thanks Guys ^^/ I wont sell this figure because I always wanted one! I can try to do similar stuff but It wont be exactly the same. Better that's for sure :D In fact I will start something from StarCraft univers very soon. Follow my work! and thank You for kind words!. This is inspiring for me
naaah impossible googl.com Elenem Figure or Elenem Sculpting and there is my work! or just facebook.com/Elenem.Sculpting I was planing to put real jewls on his shoulder/knee armor tho'
Damn I thought the first picture of the painted sculpture was a "real" picture for comparison. Then I realized it was the sculpture painted and I went like Oo
I first saw the unpainted pictures and I was like wow that's pretty impressive.
Then I saw the first painted picture (the stand was scrolled out of view) and was like Oh, is that the reference CG picture? You did a pretty good job!
Then I saw that it was the actual model and I was like o_O
I've seen sculptures and drawings on this site before and thought "yeah, this are pretty impressive, but I could definitely do that." This is one of the few things along with Glider's (aka ThePortraitArt) drawings that I am just so blown away by that I don't know what to say. That is some professional level shit.
Well It took me almost 3 weeks. mostly because of my girlfriend (she was always like: you never spend so much time on me then on this stupid figure etc. And I was always like: let me finish woman! daYum!) besides my cat bumped the whole figure once (when it was almost finished) and I had to start 50% over again.... Painting takes more time then sculpting actually.
That is incredibly good. It almost makes me wish I was born with any artistic talent whatsoever, so I could do it myself. Anyway, it would be awesome if you could do Kerrigan or the Queen of the Blades next.
On June 23 2012 07:09 Get.Midikem wrote: Queen of blades next? You are aweaome by the way.
Queen of blades would make a very challenging work with the Claw-wings she has, due to the wireframe, and fragileness and balance.
But maybe a Hunterkiller aka. Hydralisk getting "petted" by the Queen of blades, gives some support for the base of the sculpture. and would also make a more "realistic" look to it
Not completely happy? You're like that college kid who isnt totally happy with his performance because he missed 1% and only 99% for all classes combined. This is SO AWESOME
When I first saw this thread, and the first picture I thought that it was cool and something I might want to try...
Then I saw the more detailed(un-painted) version and though that it was incredible...
Finally I saw the finished product and thought it was a screen shot from the actual game. All I can say is you are absolutely amazing and have a ton of talent! Keep up the amazing work(and don't forget to show us the results :D)!
Mad skillz man, from drawing stright to sculping and you can bring our some serious quality. Even if there are the accidents of fingerprints and what not, Im sure it will come with more practice, but that is purly amazing.
This is incredible! You are amazingly talented! I looked at the first picture and was like: good proportions, but not really Zeratul. Saw the detailed one and was like, holy shit, good work! Saw the coloured pictures. Thought it was sourcdematerial from the game. saw more pictures, realized thsi was the ACTUAL FIGURE you just made. Jaw dropped in AWE.
I saw the first picture and I was like hmm pretty cool and thought it was all. And then I scrolled and saw the second picture and was like OH..MY...GAWD.. and then I saw the others and thought they were pictures from online and then I realized it was you painting it and then I changed my pants.

I saw the first picture. I'm like, that's pretty cool. Not too finished but it must be really hard to sculpt something that looks human.
2nd picture.
LOLWAT
other pictures:
Oh, he based it off of a model.
...
WAIT LOL THAT'S HIS!
Haha, this is EXACTLY the same as I was thinking looking through the post! Oh cool he used an in game picture to base it off of... OH FUCK NO THATS HIS! Haha, awesome!
Wow this really looks amazing. The sculpting AND the paint job! Had a look at your facebook and even the abandoned projects look amazing, so I'm guessing you just got bored rather than they were turning out bad?
You could probably do custom orders if you wanted to and make a living
Maybe a bust of Raynor or Kerrigan? Or why not a wedding figurine of the two
I scrolled down after seein the first picture and it blew my mind, thats incredible i thought the first coloured picture was a drawing this is incredible man.
wow! it's amazing!! Looks like something Blizzard would make to sell ^^ That paint work is really nice, you have a lot of amazing talent; can't wait to see more.
Wat the fuck man, I saw the first and I was like "hmm what is this supposed to be?" then when I scrolled down, hoooly shit that looks awesome! Sick sculpture man!!
I cant say that Im VERY happy with the results (mostly because of my sloppy hands and that I left a finger print here and there and I would done couple of thing better now etc.)
Fuck you, it looks awesome. You have a lot of talent there.
Very nice :D, I had a strange feeling after seeing the first photo, because I have the same monitor, speakers, keyboard and mousepad, almost felt as if this photo was taken on my desk :p(what a pity).
That looks so fucking amazing. I want one. When I looked at the painted one first I thought that was a screenshot from an SC2 cutscene to compare it to the unpainted one, lol. Those details man.
The sculpting is excellent but what really sets it apart is the amazing paint job on the figure. Really sets it apart from other artists you see. And for sure, if you could sell your work you would find more than enough demand for that. Great job dude!
When I first saw the top of the colored model, I was certain that it was a 3d graphic rendering... Then I scrolled down and saw the woodden stan and was Ô_Ô - Sick detail, absoloutely blown away
Whow, I thought it was the first pic that was the finale product and though; not too bad, then I scrolled... Holy Shit!!! It just got better and better, the details, the paintwork, everything is just superb. I would defenitly purchase your figures had I' seen then in a shop.

Amazing work! You are very talented! You should definitely add your a link to your fb page in the OP, no shame in plugging yourself when you are truly amazing!
I couldnt belive this wasnt photoshoped or something, holyfuckingshit, the details, omg, I dont care about SC2 or Diablo, but just the details and sculpture in general is scary good, impressive! gj
Wow dude serious talent on that piece!!! You're soo good . Thanks for sharing your sculpture. I love stuff like this! I'll take a look at your FB for sure.
Also I would like to suggest doing a marine. I love the way the marines look, but that's just me.
Thanks guys!!! It's really amazing that so many of You out there like and appreciate my work! This Is very motivating for me that's why I think It's time to do something else from the StarCraft univers :>
Pshhh you guys, don't you realize that this is nothing but a disguised brag blog? Look at the background behind the second photo of the the unpainted Zeratul!
In all seriousness, when I saw the finished product, I could hardly believe that it was human made. I literally thought it was some computer model and that you put it in there to let us know what you were comparing your work to and what the finished product was supposed to look like. The amount of detail put into the small things such as Zeratul's shoulder armor are the things that make this a masterpiece. I really wish I had artistic talent comparable to yours, it seems so cool to me to be able to make your imagination into something physical. Amazing job!

o _ O freaking amazing, you have so much talent ! I guess the obvious choice for the next sculpture would be the Queen of Blades ? I'm sure there would be a lot of details, but seeing this, makes me think It wouldn't be a problem for you ;P .
Holy shit those look good enough to be official merchandise. Nice job. Can you add a pic of the smoker? Massive L4D fan from back when 1 was still alive.
Wow, that is amazing honestly. Like legitimately on par with professional sculptors. I've recently got back into sculpting and fuck if my current project is that nice lol. I'm working in super sculpey as well, mixed some black into the flesh color to see definition easier while working. Hopefully one day I can post my work but jesus you set the bar way too high lol.
Ever thought of molding and casting it? I know some people sell resin kits so people can buy and paint their own version of something someone else made. Might have a problem with Blizzard though =P
This is amazing. I've been following the scene a lot, but never posted or contributed much. Only when I'm truly impressed with what is going on in the community, this is one of those moments. Immediately followed you on facebook, I'm excited for whats coming next. I also think the DIII and L4D scultures wouldnt be too out of place, since there is more and more general gaming going on on TL. For further suggestions:
Get a voting going for the next sculpture
If you ever need money, work on demand.
Make the sickest boardgame ever...
If you havent found a professional career yet. Talk to Blizzard, Riot, etc.....
I personally would find an attempt at the HoTS Queen of Blades very heroic!
I can't believe I'm just seeing this thread now. This is incredible work. It was funny to read back through the thread and see so many people who thought the same thing as me, that the finished work was actually a reference screenshot. I didn't believe my eyes until I saw the sculpture standing on the base, that's how good it is. Fantastic attention to detail and excellent painting as well.
Damn when I saw the first picture of the coloured Zeratul I thought that was a screenshot from a game and I started thinking why I haven't seen it yet.
DaYum! so many of You here :D It's so nice to read all of You'r comment's that's why I figured I'll do something else from StarCraft univers When I finish I'll post It here on TL Like I said, I won't sell any figures that I've already made cause I wanted them anyway oh and one more thing. Blizzard warned me about rights violation. Since I'm not getting anything out of It I will have to stop at some point cause a man gotta eat right? That would be a shame actually. Any suggestions on how could I proceed with this whole sculpting business? Because as far as I'm concerned I cant sell you anything on commision since I'm using Blizz ideas. And thats cool, cause I would need a license or something (and only big companies get that) but Blizzard will have to hire better sculptors cause i'm doing Kerrigan and she will be better! ...I hope
Amazing, simply amazing. If I had your skill level in the arts I'd make myself a website and set about making custom, one of a kind sculptures for people with a decent paycheck. You could make a career out of this.
OP, check out Shiflett Brothers site. They're professional sculptors that make all sorts of stuff. Fantasy, sci-fi, comic book stuff, etc. Sometimes they'll be commissioned by Marvel or whoever to make something which will go into production. They answer almost every question on their forums so if you're looking for some ideas or advice sign up.
Otherwise they sell resin kits. For those you'd need to get a mold made of the original which can involve hacking it to pieces to make. I dunno, maybe you can get something worked out with Blizzard? I highly doubt it lol. But I do have some Starcraft 1 action figures so they do license stuff.
As an artist with a college degree and had my struggles with this material this is extremely impressive! You should look into freelancing these, just use some sort of clear strength enhancing spray/lacquer to keep it sturdy during shipping.
And I love your transition between pic 1 and 2. Its like, damn, that looks pretty cool this might look awsome when its done ----> wtf the details Oo....
When I saw the first picture I was like oh ok, that's pretty cool.. definitely better than what I could do with clay.. and then I scrolled down to the second picture and my mind was blown.
LMFAO when i saw the first picture I thought that it was the final product and though "eh, I mean its kinda cool but nothing special." And when I saw that there were more I was blown out of the water. WOW! The detail is amazing. great work. i would love to see more

O.o genius never appreciates his own work? This is amazing sir.
Do an immortal! :D or Tassadar, but Tass would be harder with all the trappings that would need to be perfectly smooth... Flat bulky surfaces of immortal easier with a straight edge, and looks like you have round skill easily good enough for the cannons and body.
