There will be a free stream for this event - source |
meh =/ Seems more like a publicity stunt, they are still far away from the current sc2 pros skill level. On top of that, they will all miss proleague and what is more important, practice time for OSL (i.e. SK; Fantasy, Flash, Stork). Should have used 4 other players from their respective teams. Well, I guess it will be nice for the fans in NA.

I would argue that most of them *could* compete in a MLG. I doubt any of them would win, but at least a few would manage to get into the brackets I think. No, they would not. Did you see them play in the PL? I'm curious what the reaction is, considering many SC2 fans aren't too familiar with the BW scene; if this mini tournament is a farce, it could hurt MLG's basic strategy of hyping these players. I can just imagine JP hailing Flash as "the greatest RTS player of all time" before he loses to a simple 4 gate. I doubt Kespa will allow the players to enter the open bracket. This is about image over talent right now, and will be until the players improve; that may take months. If this was being held in September sure, they'd be ready to play some good games. But right now? Nah
It's already been said that they would be playing in a mini-tournament as exhibition.
Alright, look at the quality of play at an MLG. Sure there's a bunch of NA pros and a scattering of Koreans Europeans who ultimately make up most of the groups, brackets, seeds whatever. However, there's also Jimmy Plat League and Peter Mid-Masters in the open brackets. Sometimes, they sneak into the group stages because they avoid any sharks in the open bracket. Do they go farther? I don't actually know if an unknown player actually ever made it to brackets, but heck, there are some (former) no-namers who do pretty well.
However, I would argue that these guys are a bit better than those guys. Most of them are already in Masters, and a few are even GM in Korea, which says they must be pretty decent already- probably on par with your run-of-the-mill NA "pro". Sure, they don't have any SC2 tourney experience yet, so that plays negatively. Still in pure skill, they are from from being scrubs.
Yes, I watched them play in PL. Yes, some of them made embarrassingly bad mistakes *coughJDcough*. Still, it wasn't that bad.

I want to go! So much Starcraft in one location!

As someone who skipped broodwar (competetivly) I still am hyped about seeing these players develop. I still remember from the WC3 days people talked about them switching over and them dominating the scene, but it never really happened. I think it is smart for them to be left out of the main competition however. Much of the hype would die if none of them even made it out of the open bracket especially vs some random masters players.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh Im dead this will be so crazy

Ahh, why Calm and not ZerO? Apart from that - i like this lineup.
But better they played Broodwar.

So much want for Soulkey after having a sour taste in my mouth after the last Pro League game I saw of him
|
So I know MLG has confirmed 2 free streams for this, and have confirmed first person views would be be free. Assuming each player has a first person stream, does that mean the casted stream for this is not free, despite being main stage? It'd be nice if MLG just simply stated if the casted stream is free or not, rather than dancing around technicalities. (And please don't misinterpret, I'm not complaining about if it is PPV or not for the casted stream, rather not being direct in their clarifications.)

It's cool, but from the little bit of proleague we've seen, we know they're not on the level of GOM players at all.
|
OH SHIT. I'm actually going to watch this MLG, purely for my boy Soulkey! Awesome to see the other superstars coming over as well, they made great choices with who they brought over.
|
so epic!!!!
to all of you that can be at the event: give them ALL your love or I will hunt you down with my level 60 hardcore munk. ...and ye. give a hug from me to Stork plz <3
btw: DO NOT TALK ABOUT HOW GOOD THEY ARE. Irrelevant right now. Only give them the best welcome ever.

Ok, I only read a few pages and I don't pretend to know the layout of the tourney.. but why not throw them in the open bracket? man, that'd be so damn sweet.. who wouldn't pay for that? maybe if they genuinely don't want to and would turn down the open bracket offer.. why not see what happens, just for fun.. epic, right?
XD

They're gonna get raped. They should have waited until PL was all SC2, because the SC2 games have been ridiculously underwhelming.

Ok, just seen that. Who's gonna wake me up form this dream ?
Nobody ?
OH SH*T THIS ISN'T A DREAM !

This will be interesting, can't wait to see what they do in a different game...I am sort of excited and sort of just scared for all the SCII gamers.

MLG could've done at least some basic research and got their records right...
Soulkey somehow got a record of 67-25 the year BEFORE he had the most wins in the B-League 2009...
Boosting Fantasy and Bisu's win records with STX Masters team wins as well as other team stuff... To anyone new to BW it looks like Fantasy has been really dominant (from 2003 onwards LOL) with 15 wins when the majority of those aren't individual/actual titles. How the hell do you give a guy who's won 1 starleague 15 first place finishes?? Have they somehow merged him with Boxer and Oov and got him debuting 4 or so years before he actually did. edit: ok maybe it's nada, still I don't get how you confuse Fantasy and Nada

Considering the quality of the sc2 games from BW pros this far I do not believe I will miss much, though I would like there were a free stream just to see them, them being who they are.
