That's not surprising, I remember there was an interview a while back with IdrA where he said (at least at that time) he didn't play with sound. If you turn sound off you really train yourself to be more aware of the minimap and your resources, since there is no sound warning to fall back on. (watching the minimap especially)

And don't pretend there is no skill cap on strategy when there is: it's called game design. There aren't an infinite amount of ways to play the game and as the players become more refined the amount of strategies available to legitimately use narrow. what an ignorant statement.. Strategy is limitless. Strategy isn't just the game design unless we're talking about tic tac toe and we're not. Strategy is psychology, its ability to adapt.. it's understanding how to manipulate your opponent and not letting him manipulate you. It's not just about your over-all game plan.. it is everything. It's tactics.. It's deceit. It's preparing for deceit. It is immeasurable in Sc2.

To people who talk about strategy! Hey friends, this is a fallacy! A Real Time Strategy game involves not only STRATEGY, but EXECUTION! mechanical skills are core too, otherwise we could just play a turn based game like chess. Also these strategy argumeng really sound silly, like you just did read any Sun Tzu book or something like that, Tactics is the way to go, it is enjoyable to watch, strategy is something more subtle, less attractive to watchers.

Are you sure about that? What I read said they are basically 2 bo3's and you have to win both to avoid the ace match. Technically you can still throw the BW section and win the Sc2 ace match, but that doesn't seem like the best strategy...

It's still different. I know the difficult control mechanics in BW is stupid but in BW you can never dream of doing the things that pros do. Such as storming in several different locations is extremely difficult in BW because there is no smartcasting. Now in SC2, most people can do that by just selecting several HT can go T, left-click, T, left-click, T, left-click. And watching BW pros did those highly difficult trick that you can never dream of doing is super exciting.

Multiple building selection in sc1 u could only have 1 building per hotkey. In sc2 that is not the case.
