HUB for upcoming LANs and tournaments with appropriate date/time information for qualifying spots Press Release
"Hello and welcome to the central hub of the CyberActiv Production initiative for the SCII World Championship Series hosted by Blizzard. CyberActiv was mandated by Blizzard to rally up Canada’s grass roots events and share the Canadian Finals spots in a fair and enjoyable way for our fellow Canadians. As part of CyberActiv’s mission, we gladly accepted to help bolster the Canadian eSports scene and make this a fantastic experience for everybody involved. We believe that we came up with a plan that should be fair for everybody.
There will be 2 online and 3 offline LAN events for gamers to qualify at. These 5 tournaments will give between 1 and 2 spots to the winners and will give the top non-qualifying players a second chance at the final, CyberActiv-run, Online Qualifiers for the final 2 spots. These spots, come with a fully paid travel and lodging for the qualified players! Of course, qualified players must be Canadian citizens.
We Hope that our fellow Canadian gamers will appreciate the initiative!" We are finally happy to reveal and announce the important information regarding Canada's qualifier spots for the National Championship and Blizzard World Championship. We have been tasked by Blizzard Entertainment to spread the spots evenly amongst various major Canadian groups that balances both online and offline presences of the participants. The following information, also found on our website, can be summed up by these bullet points:
- There will be 2 online events to qualify for the National Canadian Championships.
- There will be 3 offline LAN events to qualify for the National Canadian Championships.
- A total of 5 tournaments with 8 spots in total will be given out through the period of May
- Top places to those after the qualifying players, will be eligible for CyberActiv's Online Qualifiers for the final 2 spots
- Players who receive a qualifier spot to the Blizzard National Canadian Championships. will have all their travel and lodging accomodations paid
The following organizations are working alongside CyberActiv.ca to both manage the the spots and tournaments: As more information comes out, I'll be updating this thread and keeping you guys up-to-date.
Amongst these organization, 6 out of 8 spots will be awarded to the top players. As mentioned before, those who were amongst the top ranked players in these qualifier tournaments, but did not earn a spot, will earn another chance to qualify in CyberActiv's own online qualifier tournaments where we will have two spots available to award. This announcement is not very clear to me, it constantly references the qualifier spots as qualification for the World Championship. Can you explain how these will feed intro presumably a National finals (NASL anyone?) and then the continental finals at MLG Summer championship?
Also can one presume Canada will also have invites for top players as USA has? O.o

I read through all this without noticing it was you, torte! I have some questions that might be obvious, is there a place to sign up, is the sign up open? Where are the lans happening exactly?

How come the USA has 16 slots and Canada has 5? As well as all of the USA Qualifiers were online and free as the Canadian's have 3 in LAN making it almost impossible to qualify unless you can make those 2 qualifiers. Is this fair? I'm not too sure. Not to mention one of the online qualifier sites is in 100% French... Thought it would be better than this, excited but only one chance to win now, rather than 16 or 4.
Could someone please explain to me why there is 3 LAN's? All in the Eastern region too such as: - Quebec - Winnepeg - Ontario I guess there is no community in BC,or Alberta,Saskatchewan.. owait there is.
Don't mean to complain too much but really, was this thought out 100% ? It makes me wonder what the other qualifiers were like. Please explain someone. Looks like be in that one qualifier rather than 5.
PS: When can you start signing up?

The three LANs are happening in Winningpeg, Manitoba by BaseLAN (http://www.allyourbaseonline.com/) Skyzo is doing another in Quebec City on May 27th and the last one is by the Interceptor Group. All dates should be posted via the links and further information will be posted when I get them.

Hello there! Charles, leader of the initiative here at CyberActiv.
I have been working day and most of my nights for the last 3 weeks on this, reaching out to all the communities i know. I've done quite a couple community ccalls too. It is the best representation we could find. LANcouver was actually quite a good candaidate but that sadly was just an itsy bitsy too late! If you know of any communities in the west that would like to work with CyberActiv in future events, tell them to send a holler my way at charles@cyberactiv.ca
We hope that people east of Manitoba will register through our online tournaments as these guys are full on prepared to host you.
Also everyone, as far as signup goes, we will be linking to the signup page as soon as they are ready! Partners are currently making their announcements and signup pages will be made available ASAP! keep your eyes here or on the central hub for details!

Hi Yip12343,
I'm one of the admins for the Team Killing Spree tournament, i'm sorry for the unilingual french site. We're currently working on a bilingual version of our tournament page, everything should be ready at the beginning of this week. Thanks for your interest!

If it's any use or help, I can provide english instructions with images to help orient people as to where to sign-up and how via French/Quebec websites. This should garner to the more English-speaking Canadians as well.
When sign-ups are open, I will do so as soon as possible.

Nothing in Vancouver? Someone call CanucksJC!

There is a disproportion between Western Canada and Eastern. Eastern has two LANs accomodated to them and Western only has one, so evening out with the limited qualifier spots means West should get two (plus time constraints).

How are we supposed to sign-up for these events when both of the links provided are in French.I guarentee you every Canadian doesn't know French. Would like to know why there was 3 LAN's though, does that apply to all your audiences? Like when you make your business plan/model you should have your target audience, correct?
I know Vancouver and Calgary have two of the biggest clubs for SC2 in Canada if not the world.. Also what makes it "a bit too late" as in you, the main organizer didn't contact them or? Still confused, w/e.. Is it possible at least for the 2 online qualifiers to be in English?
