Toronto has the highest population yet there is one slot LOL, this is a joke for the Canadian qualifiers... [/b]
Please keep in mind that article was written on Net Connect's opening weekend (when we just threw a bunch of computers in to get the place open).
Since then we've added gaming computers, cleaned the place up and even hosted a few little LANs, wherein the competitors seemed to enjoy themselves.
So rather than judge it on the basis of a single blog written over a year ago, come check it out for yourself.

Thanks once again for giving the players this opportunity!

While outside our Initiative, I know that CSL already announced 4 spots. I can also tell you that there will in fact be 12 already qualified players. These 12 were qualified due to their previous MLG, NASL and IPL achievements. You are free to speculate on that. Players are currently being notified, as far as i know, today, by those 3 organisations. For the last 8, i'm not in the liberty to say but that information will come AFTER the intiative. Now that this is settled, take a look at the sick roster for friday! I can honestly say, we've got some kickass canadian players. Keep signing up people! http://binarybeast.com/xSC21205071#participants
if u dont mind can u reveal those 12 players so they dont need to waste time playing qualifiers?

Seems a little bit stupid that the announcement that baselan was a qualifier for WCS was made less than a week prior to the event..

Quite depressing if you don't live anywhere near the live ones, you have to win one of two huge tournaments with players from all over Canada and not just your city. At least there's two other spots for top players who didn't make it... but I have a feeling that tournament will be stacked as hell too. How come US gets so many more spots than Canada?

Yeah I don't understand why college students should get 4 spots from an online tournament. It should be open to all canadians. It's quite ridiculous to refuse certain canadian players from canadian qualifiers now isn't it?
college students get a chance on 12 spots while non-students get a chance on only 8. Is there something college students have that others don't? I'm pretty sure they're canadian just like the rest of the population of Canada is.

It does seem a bit ridiculous, also doesn't seem like the best way to make sure Canada has the best representation available at the WCS. This whole thing seems a bit of a cluster fuck from an outside perspective, but I really hope that isn't the case and will wait and see how it all pans out..
