Any games you play without the plugin running will not be displayed or calculated. When you get back home and use the plugin, you'll start from where you last had your MMR calculated. There shouldn't be any issues once you get a good game, as it will adjust.

Not sure if this is normal, but I got an error in the log after my 4th game. I was also promoted from platinum to diamond for that game.

Likely some web profile update related problem. Also as it was promotion match it would likely be set bad. Can you add (edit your previous message) pre- and post-player profiles for both inside spoiler tags from that match (+ edit previous log inside spoiler tags). They are available from the 'Game log' (or if you closed sc2gears in between from [PATH_TO]\Sc2gears\User content\Plugin file cache\mmr.plugin.MMRPlugin\log.txt search with his name).
Edit: or if you want to keep that more detailed data private you can PM that.
Edit2: Log looks nice. Your adjusted points dropped as you were promoted. That explains that -120 change points. Which of course activated 'bad change points' check. And as you won you should have got points & not lost --> "wrong player won" check activated. Thank you for the data. It is good to know that it was working correctly regarding a special case (promotion).

A good game is a game from which your MMR can be calculated. And it is always calculated from the opponent's data. Also in lower MMR range of each league it is typical that you get rarely 'good games' (master league is exception).
Chances to get a 'good game' dropped considerably for people who don't have memory reader on (possible only if opponent wins and has bonus pool left). This is because Blizzard started hiding the change points when you lose. Only way to count the change points is to have pre-game profile and that requires memory reader. With memory reader on it is possible to count the change points in every situation if data from web profiles is ok. But there are lots of other requirements regarding the data too.
You can check from the original post Q&A what are the prerequisites when it _may_ be possible to count your MMR. Search for "What is a pre-requisite to be able get a 'good game' (a game from which user's MMR can be calculated). What is the difference if memory reader is on vs off?"
But keep using the tool. Sooner or later you will get an opponent, whose data is suitable for calculating your MMR. And when you have at least one, the other matches can be used as estimation matches.

OK thank for explain me this, i on a diamond league so i hope play a "good game" to know if i'm far or not of the master league ^^

Every time I start a game windows tells me ram.exe has stopped working and I close it. Anybody know what might be causing this? This might be what is causing every game of mine to be marked as bad.
Memory scanner is on, Java is up to date so is sc2gears... I manually installed mmr stats, but I did not delete Sc2gears-12.4.1\Sc2gears\Plugins\mmrupdate.zip I don't think I'm supposed to though but realized that file was still there.
Any ideas?
EDIT: When I try to run ram.exe manually it gives me this error in a cmd prompt but i can't copy paste because windows says it's not responding.
So this is it manually typed out:
Unhandled Exception: System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Access is denied at System.Diagnostics.ProcessManager.OpenProcess(Int32 processId, Int32 access, Boolean thorwIfExited) at System.Diagnostics.NtProcessManager.GetModuleInfos(Int32 processId, Boolean firstModuleOnly) at System.Diagnostics.NtProcessManager.GetfirstModuleInfo(Int32 process Id) at System.Diagnostics.Process.get_MainModule() at ram.MainClass.Main(String[] args)
When I run ram.exe as administrator it doesn't have this problem I need to check if this fixes it in game though.
Can I run ram.exe before starting a game to bypass this? Or does mmrstat plugin need to open ram.exe as administrator?
lol okay I fixed this error (I think so far) by just right click on ram.exe then making it always run as administrator for anyone else who has the problem.
Great program thanks. Btw should I delete all bad games and just keep the good ones or no?

I compressed the zip file and uploaded it again. Hope it fix the autoupdate problems. Works for me...

Yes. The memory reader needs enough rights to be able to access the memory.
On March 30 2013 09:54 TrickNachos wrote: Great program thanks. Btw should I delete all bad games and just keep the good ones or no? You keep all match data. Only if an unranked match or tie game is recorded you delete it. Had to add match length requirement for a match before unranked detection activates, as it was prone to false positives due to web profiles updating sometimes with considerable delay & sometimes faster.

Yes. First requirement is to be able to calculate adjusted points & know the change points for that match (your MMR is calculated from opponent's data & opponent's from your data). But there are more requirements that has to be met, especially if you snd your opponent are not in master league. Those POST-Trigger quality results are actually switched (player data quality is based on opponent's data & opponent's data based on player's data. have to think if would change the messages somehow more intuitive). From that match it is possible to calculate opponent's MMR.

Okay, I'm a high dia player looking to get into masters. MMR stats said that my MMR was 1881 so very close to 1910 which is where masters promo line is. Okay so I play a masters and I lose, and it SHOOOOTS down to 1651! Now I figured that maybe that's just how the program is so I changed all my previous games (like 100 or so) to let the plugin know what product they are (H for hots) and I never saw anything else like this. I usually lose or gain 10 or 20 points which seems reasonable but when I lost to someone above me I lost 230 MMR points! Is this normal? Even if I lost to a 100th Bronze should it really go down by ten times the points?

Even if I lost to a 100th Bronze should it really go down by ten times the points? Offsets changed for this season. Thus matches against players from others leagues from which MMR can be calculated can give inaccurate results (the data itself is likely ok, but as calculation uses incorrect offsets the result is incorrect). If the previous 'good games' were against people from your own league (diamond) they are relationally correct. Don't trust the promotion borders either (they are based on last seasons offsets). When you get a good game against diam opponent the graph will fix itself.
Here is how 'good games' affect the graph. X, Y, Z are 'good games' and '-' estimate games. x, y, z are parts of the graph affected by the good games.
------X---------------Y---------Z------
xxxxxxXyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyYzzzzzzzzzZzzzzzz
It will take some time to collect enough data to be able to calculate current offsets (potentially few weeks). After better offsets have been calculated a new DB file will be released. The tool will then use the new values also regarding old S12 matches.
You have too options either 1) wait for for DB update or a new 'good game' that 'fixes' the graph, 2) set that match against that master opponent bad (not neccessarily recommended),

How many games have you played with the MMR keeping track on it ?

Thank you Korona. I guess I will just have to wait until I get some "good games" and for the new database file to come out. How do I know which games MMR Stats considers to be good and bad? Right now it says I have 2/132 good games but which ones are they?
Godwrath, I kept track of 132 games and this one game had that huge 230 mmr point dip xD. I've been running the mmr stats plugin before it worked for hots to collect the data and possibly help as much as possible so I've collected quite a few games =).

2 games out of 132 is low amount. Of course most of those games were probably played with old version of the tool (all set to 'bad'). If you are not using memory reader, it would dramatically increase chances to get 'good games' (See question ' What is a pre-requisite to be able get a 'good game' (a game from which user's MMR can be calculated). What is the difference if memory reader is on vs off?' from original post. The memory reader is optional as it is against the ToS even if is not feasible for Blizzard to detect it & only fetches the player names and IDs from memory.
|
Just saying: turn on Memory Reader!
It is as much against the ToS as installing the game is! "you are not allowed to gather information about the client" thats all it says. WIndows and other programms gather a ton of information about the client when you install it! When you read a replay file you gather even more information... Looking at the sc2 folder: Gather information. Writing down your nickname on a paper: Gather information. Perhaps you see now how irelevant and useless this line in the ToS is. Its just a line that that means everything and nothing.
Not a single one of the by now 50k users had a problem because of it. Windows itself and every virus-scanner read the memory of sc2 all the time.
There is nothing evil or bad of reading memory of an other program! Its often nessasary (e.g. if a program have poorly designed interfaces like sc2). But it looks like many people think about something evil when they hear "memory reading". I dont understand why.
The only reason for turning memory reader off, its if you run it on a mac or under wine! In which it automatical disable itself anyway...
