You should still feel accomplished. The only reason the barriers were changed is so there's a "proper" distribution in Blizzard's eyes amongst the leagues. They apparently want bronze/silver/gold/plat to be about the same size, but with diamond considerably larger than any of those, and then masters/GM at the tip top representing literally just the point of the pyramid.

*edit nvm, just read some posts*
|
I wonder how the actual distribution is now across all the leagues.

im at 0/3 (needs better data)replays, is there a way to get them to upload with the correct data? how do i see these graphs?
edit: got it. only 1 in 7 games got correct data

Kinda sad, now being in gold doesn't even feel like an accomplishment for me, even though I worked toward it for a while Exactly the same for me, but I'm happy about it. I knew for quite a while that the distribution was so much off that I'd actually be in Gold, if Blizzard only corrected it. Now they have (it seems) and I feel more like finally being where I deserve to be.
On a sidenote: Nice marketing from Blizzard... making a lot of casuals happy with promotions so they are in a good mood for the HotS release.

Same here : was gold, became plat but i would have preferred to have earned it myself
Didn't think about the marketing stuff, but that makes sense. Damn, i'm still so naive >_<

Promotion offsets change is an adjustment when the skill move out of bell curve. Its does not solve the problem but gives the league the correct size again.
Gold means you are between 40-60% of the population skill. So because its an correction you earned your gold. In the end even if blizzard calls best 100 players "scrub" that does not change that you are in the best 100. Its all just shiny icons...

I have installed sc2gears 12.4.1 and the mmr stats 7.9 plugin yesterday, and I keep getting this log :
17:5: 24 Game Start detected 17:6: 7 Webgrabber: Player true 17:6: 7 No Profile, skip 17:6: 7 Webgrabber: Opponent false 17:6: 7 PRE-Trigger done
It prevented the plugin to record any game so far (I played around 20 games). I have done a research on this thread with the keyword "Opponent false" and didnt find how to solve this problem.
Any thoughts?

So basically if we're in Masters our MMR is showing lower than it actually is?
|
Hmmm well i got back into masters. Says my mmr is around what it was before season end (above masters). I wonder if they really did change the mmr cap, or if the mmr tool is off by a bit (i won 3 games in a row and it decreased my mmr, so it is questionable)

Does your screen say 0/20 games, or 0/0? If it's 0/20 then it just needs higher quality data, I'm not sure about any of this because I'm new myself but I can try to help. In the settings, make sure that you have listed your profile url correctly and enable the memory reader, it increases your chance of getting a quality game. There should be more to the log than that, also. Go to your main-log area, click "get support" and it'll give you a more verbose version. My MMRstats says basically exactly what yours says, and mine works fairly well.

Thanks! I enabled it and my first game since was a quality game. I think the problem is fixed now, here is the log.

Masters works very good for US. After getting the mastersmmr i played some masters and got promoted (note: i was masters before this season and got demoted like many others)

Blizzard changed the masters offset significantly. As a result, If you're in masters, your MMR is being calculated way too low.
Old offsets are too low, so it appears to be accurate. Your MMR is actually probably ~50-100 higher, along with the masters league offsets.
As far as accuracy of the whole program goes, I'm under the impression that:
-Many of the offsets are wrong, so don't rely on the league promotion lines -All MMR is calculated correctly, except masters which is too low
Someone correct me if I'm mistaken please
|
The DMMR did not change and never change. Means: if you play someone in your league, your mmr relative to the promotion line of this leauge is correct! What we call offsets are the league levels. The offset of the leauge ! So even if offsets are total wrong if you are 500 above master line and player master you are 500 above master line!
However if you play a diamond and the diamond line is now bigger than in the past i calculate to view offset = show a to small mmr value.
I will update diamond-master offsets soon. That will give you to high MMR values but correct relative values if you play against diamond.
To high values in total because i have to lower the other offset but dont know yet how much.
Sorry i can not awnser every one right now, not much time. Will read throw all of it later.

@Alaeus thank you no need, i need very special games you can not generate on purpose
@sorten however offsets change. MMR never change. Your opponent did not change with offset change. "Cant find active player " is not normal . I means that you did not select the active profile in the top left when ladder
@sorten again your opponents have same skill like before. perhaps you just improved
@kit-bar Excalibur said everything.
@Alaeus Like i said you earned it. They corrected the mistake that you did not get demoted before.
@ktimekiller they aim for a 20% of "ACTIVE" players. However they never said what their definition of active is....
@phiers enable memore-reader
@Syrinks If this from the pre-trigger run? if you have memory-reader disabled he can not read him in pretirgger because he dont know who your opponent is..
@Shiori yes / no. Depends if you play against a master or a diamond
@mavvie not quit correct read above
General: Offsets change because skill move out of bell curve ( what's happens with older games when no new guys join) In this case blizzard just want to go back to 20% 20% .... This does not fix the problem but the problem is unfixable!

I played a few games on a different computer and I lost like 4/5 (I was drunk). When I laddered on this comp again with sc2gears on it didn't drop me at all, will it eventually figure out what my MMR got lower from the losses?

If you don't play with mmrstats open at the time, it doesn't record those games. On the other hand, I think the opponents' mmr is taken into consideration when your mmr is calculated. After all, the program can calculate the data of someone who has never played before, after they give enough input data. Your graph might be a bit weird until you regain your previous mmr, since your opponent mmr will seemingly drop way below what the previous one was.
|
The graph looks normal now, I wonder if I just didn't lose much MMR from the losses.
|
you did not have a good game yet. As soon as you have you will see the jump.
