I'm EU silver, but I don't play very much. Could put in a few extra games this week, if it helps
How do I check which version of MMR stats I'm using? Could not find any info on that. Did the manual update thing though, so I guess I'm on the latest version. How about an auto-update feature? I keep forgetting to update all the time, and the data might be lost because of that.

The plugin MMR stats is auto updating, as the program SC2Gears (which has also a "check updates" option but is running it each time it starts).
To know which version of MMStats you're using, click on the "log" button, and in the main log you should see something like that (click on the spoiler tag) :
+ Show Spoiler +12:54:4 MMR-Stats 7.9 12:54:4 --------INIT START-------- 12:54:4 OK File-Encoding UTF-8 12:54:4 OK Loading DB 12:54:5 OK DB up to date! 12:54:5 OK Settings loaded! 12:54:5 OK Timeclient: Systemtime offset: 0 sec 12:54:5 OK Gamedata: 418 Games loaded. 12:54:5 OK Triggers ready! 12:54:6 FATALERROR Gameobserver: Failed, cant read windows registry! Null 12:54:6 Gameobserver disabled!, we can still collect data... 12:54:7 OK: Program is up to date 12:54:7 --------INIT END--------
So version 7.9 in this case.

What do you mean, you cannot update it ? can you post the main log ? i'm in Germany and everything is working without a problem (on DT).
EDIT: oh i didn't know of this feature, (thx Skeldark :D) : in order to post the main log, click on the log then on "Get support" there you can directly copy/paste the result in this forum, the spoiler tag is already included Ele3T!

i posted on page 115. i just need the new version. i am in a universitynetwork. they block the mmr page suddenly. thats the problem

Thanks.
But sometimes there's a button in the upper bar that says something like "Update plugin", which seems to do just that when I press it. There's no need for me to use it?

Understood : can you propose a filehoster after you've made sure it's not also blocked on your network ? then it's possible to upload the last version of the plugin on it and you can access it.
EDIT: But still, the entire log isn't there (no plugin version) and as i just discovered, you can use the function "get support" (bottom right when you check the log in MMRStats) that makes the log readable on this forum.

Sure :D the DB is actually automatically downloaded. For the plugin itself, it checks for a new version and informs you there's one, so it's perfectly good (and necessary) to get it (and not necessary to check for a new version since it's done automatically, the "check update" function in the help menu is for SC2Gears).

Looks like the Diamond promotion line is still right, holding at 1350ish. I was demoted to Plat this season, and as soon as I hit mmr 1349 I got promoted back to Diamond. GG Skeldark.

That would mean the promotion line is lower.
You have to be stable in a zone, not just hitting it.

As a silver player, I hope you can use some of the data I've got; I've been playing like crazy lately. I think I've got 100% data for 7 games since the season changed, but whatever. I just want to see this program do well, I think it's awesome.
I would say that the silver MMR line fell because the opponents I'm facing seem so much easier to beat, but my apm is also through the roof. Maybe being in bronze was just corroding my brain cells and robbing me of the ability to macro.
(Is it normal to have errors in the game logfiles? "can't find active profile, can't find player" etc...)

(Is it normal to have errors in the game logfiles? "can't find active profile, can't find player" etc...) Agreed, I'm 99% sure that the silver league promotionline was lowered drastically. Of the 5 bronze players I know, ALL of them got promoted in their placement matches this season. And they had all been in bronze for 3-4 months with hundreds of games.
Still, your opponents skill level shouldn't change because matchmaking is based off MMR, not leagues, and MMR doesn't change between seasons.

Just gathering up the comments around here, and in the chat channels, it feels like all the leagues dropped down, and masters actually moved up.
Blizzard trying to make the leagues more of an accomplishment I imagine.

I'd concur with this. All the bronze-diamond leagues got easier to promote into through lowering the MMR lines and then they just made diamond really big. Its probably not going to be the distribution of 20/20 whatever that they used to have, but make the first 4 leagues about equal and then making diamond a lot bigger so there's bigger gap between masters and the rest of the leagues.
So far from the bnet thread and just what my friends have observed, it looks like almost 60% of masters got put below the line and now its a fight to prove you were above the low-mid masters line.
Anyone above that line doesn't seem to have had any trouble getting masters back (diamond couldn't hold me for even a day). I think its kinda nice though. More challenge and accomplishment for the leagues = good :D

I'm not sure what's going on, but there's definitely something odd about my recent games. Last season I was a top-8 bronze, I was doing my best to learn and improve and all of the silver players I faced off with were twice as good as me. A few days ago I got a promotion, suddenly my apm is through the roof, my win-rate is high. Perhaps I am better at beating the more predictable silver players than bronze.
It would make sense to me if they lowered silver and widened gold, since so many bronzes are being promoted and masters seems to have been shrunk. Generally shifting the bell curve to the left of the current MMR ranges.

I know mmr is what matters but my smurf account says its in top 98-99% dia yet im not in masters. Got demoted this season (not a huge issue for me) and I am over 50 pts above the masters mmr. Not sure if this means anything but thought id put it out there. If it really is the top 2% of players, I wonder because im above the top 2% on that account

The actual percentile (which is what you see in points which are not representative of MMR) is not what determines promotion. Also the "percentile" is not a global percentile of the entire ladder because points can't be compared across leagues, so SC2Ranks--and therefore with all the tools and programs that use SC2Ranks--only give you your position as a percentile within your league. That is, "top 98%" means top 98% in points in Diamond and not the overall ladder. One more thing: the percentiles for leagues are not "enforced", they're just MMR breakpoints placed at certain values which correspond to expected percentiles. This means that if they think the top 2% will end up being above 2200 MMR, they'll place the value at 2200 MMR and whoever crosses that gets into Master.

I was in silver last season, and when I started playing again yesterday I immediately got promoted to gold even though I lost my placement match. So yeah, seems the promo requirements were lowered... Kinda sad, now being in gold doesn't even feel like an accomplishment for me, even though I worked toward it for a while
