Just cause it's a public chat doesn't mean someone has the right to berate someone else. How would you like it if you had a open party and I go in and call you a cunt. Just cause you're on the internet doesn't mean you can say whatever you want. The person won't get anything close to the penalty that's listed but this type of action in South Korea can be punished.

Now lets use some logic here. You're at a bar, you walk up to a random stranger and tell him to fuck himself and continue berating him. What is going to happen to you? You're going to get kicked out(and possibly an ass kicking). The police wont be involved, because quite frankly, that's just straight up silly. Ironically, Jessica has a way to remove people from her chat, similarly to kicking some one out. Strange how it works, right?

What, you think that's how it is in every country? That's how it works in my country, then that's how it works in every country! Surely!

You get jailed when you steal something in some countries, you get your hands cut off in some others.

doesnt mean we should be supporting the people cutting off hands

cutting of someones hand for stealing isnt that much more overboard then getting 7 YEARS in prison for being on the internet

That's your opinion. This is their law because some people support it. If you don't support it then that is your view of things but other people think it is worth supporting.

Human decency = being a coward and abusing people via the guise of anonymity the internet gives you. In a country where there is legislation in place that can be used against you in this regard.

human decency = destorying anyone who doesnt agree with you?

human decency = the ability to interact with other humans with cohesion and with manner and respect.
Punishable if otherwise sure?

It's not too much to ask for someone to act with some human decency it really isn't.

Making an example of people is a stupid redneck view of things. It explicitly implies the punishment is unfair with the goal of scaring the shit out of everyone else. Ruling by fear is barbaric and not needed for human beings.

That is incorrect, ruling by fear is a measure to use. No rules it truly barbaric. Fear is a means to get the job done. When morals fail Society employ what are called rules, that are enforced by what we call punishments to trigger fear in order to effectively guide people in the correct path.

FYI Cyber bullying is not the right path,

You are completely correct that a truly civilized world wouldn't need something like that, but then again a truly civilized world wouldn't have people going around cyberbullying people either.

You're correct, every country is different. This is a prime example of a silly, extreme law, and a person who handled this in the most extreme way possible. Some countries allow a person to physically assault their spouse. Sound like a good law to you? Absolutely not. Stealing results in a punishment of getting your hand cut off in some countries. Is that a reasonable punishment? Absolutely not.

You're basing your answers on your view of things, on how it is in your country. Ask someone in say, Saudi Arabia, how a thief should be dealt with. Ask someone who grew up and lived in that country if cutting of a hand of a thief is a reasonable punishment. Most of the time you'll get a yes. You see, this is their law because a significant number of people support it. Just because you think it is wrong, doesn't mean it is wrong.

thats nto what he said, making an example of someone is pretty barbaric, basically what making an example of someone is is purposely giving them an extra large sentannce then normal (like lets say speeding normall is a 100$ fine and instead fining 1000$) in order to show everyone else how serious you are

In many situations a person who would steal a candy bar from a store wouldn't go to jail. You have expressed no context behind the situation, so it's impossible to tell.

Lets look at this logically. You're doing 75 in a 55, possibly putting innocent lives in danger. You're fined $200 for this.

You're spamming meaningless nonsense in a chat. You're fined up to $44,000 and 7 years in prison for this(in an extreme case).

Now tell me how you feel.

These are barbaric ideas that these societies have. What other people and I are expressing is that this is no way to handle the problem. What about the instance where the lady had acid splashed in her face? The government allowed her to splash acid back in her husband's face. There were human right groups all over protesting this. While a country still lives by these ideals, it doesn't make them any less crazy.

Don't say that is what I'm saying right after bringing up candy theft which I haven't talked about at all.

Fair punishment for stealing is a fine because you took some of value so you pay that value back. Yes locking someone up over a candy bar is disgusting, it's a fucking candy bar.

You don't need a legal backround for morals, silly. More often than not legal systems are enforcing immoral laws and people are going through law school for $$$ not to make the world a better place.

^ this is what you are saying. You think the punishment is too severe when it simply isn't. I don't think I should have to go to court and pay a fine for speeding...

So what I'm saying is, what legal background do you have to say the punishment doesn't fit the crime?

In many situations a person who would steal a candy bar from a store wouldn't go to jail. You have expressed no context behind the situation, so it's impossible to tell.

Lets look at this logically. You're doing 75 in a 55, possibly putting innocent lives in danger. You're fined $200 for this.

You're spamming meaningless nonsense in a chat. You're fined up to $44,000 and 7 years in prison for this(in an extreme case).

Now tell me how you feel.

Nah dude, these people have never trolled or insulted anyone. Ever.

I love watching trolls and dicks getting punished. I hope that he really gets fined or sent to jail. Hey at least he isn't going to get killed like those kids playing Lineage 2 or something.

love to see human decency in action

oh man this guy said a nono word we should ruin his life

Human decency = being a coward and abusing people via the guise of anonymity the internet gives you. In a country where there is legislation in place that can be used against you in this regard.

human decency = destorying anyone who doesnt agree with you?

human decency = the ability to interact with other humans with cohesion and with manner and respect.
Punishable if otherwise sure?

It's not too much to ask for someone to act with some human decency it really isn't.

It is too much to lock them up or take a bunch of money over words on a screen.

Stop acting like anyone thinks it was good behavior, no one is saying that.

Society form rules so it can sustain itself. Morals fail, that's why there are rules. And at the end of rules there are punishment, it's the fear of punishment that guides the people on to the right paths.
